Delilah
Everything is going smoothly and as planned, Lucas finally agreed to see a therapist only because I agreed to see a doctor. I guess we all drive hard bargains. So that was how I found myself in a doctor's office on a Saturday morning.
The door opened and Dr Phillips walked into the office. She gave me the normal carefree smile that every doctor is expected to give to his or her patients. A normal person with no much experience with doctors with fall for that smile that says no worries but me, I've come to understand the mask, so I don't put my hope on their smiles.
"Good morning Miss Davidson, it'ss nice to see you... How have you been?"
I almost gave her a sarcastic reply but decided against it "I was fine until this constant headaches"
She sat down and folded her hands "constant headaches? For how long have you been experiencing those?"
"For four weeks now"
"Why didn't you come see me earlier? Why wait for four weeks?"
Why is she sounding like she's chastising me "I didn't come to see you because I was taking care of it, and the moment I couldn't anymore, my family persuaded me to be here"
She made an mmmm sound "when you said you were taking care of it, do you care to explain?"
Why do I feel like I am discussing with a therapist? "I bought some drugs that were helping me control it, but I guess my body got use to it"
"Did you get the drugs with a doctor's prescription?"
"No I didn't" I hissed trying not to get annoyed
"Do I need to tell you the dangers of self medication?"
"No you don't" I snapped "I came here to find out what is wrong with me, not to get lectured. So with all due respect Mrs Phillips, can we get on with that, I don't have the whole day"
"You know you can get arrested for that right?"
I raised my brows "for what? For saying my mind?"
She shook her head "for self medication?"
I smirked "good luck to anyone who wants to try. And are you going to attend to me, or do I have to see another doctor?"
She waved her hand around "that won't be necessary. I'll take your blood to run some tests and when the result is ready, I'll come over to the house with it"
"If I didn't know any better, I'll say you want to use that opportunity to see my dad"
She stood up and told me to follow her to the lab "need I remind you that I am a married woman?"
"Yeah right!! A married woman who is on the process of divorce"
She stopped abruptly and I almost ran into her "I won't discuss my personal life with you Delilah because you are my patient and also I am coming over to the house because I know how much you hate hospitals"
"I don't just hate hospitals, I also hate the staffs that work in it including the doctors"
She looked at me with pity before resuming her walk down to the lab. When we got to the lab, my blood samples were taken and I was given some prescription for the headache at least until the results are out.
I got back a earlier than Lucas so I decided to have a talk with our mole. I picked up my phone and called Jethro and he picked on the third ring
"Good day Jethro, Miss Davidson speaking"
He ruffled around in the background before answering "good afternoon Miss Davidson, I wasn't expecting your call"
"Well you work for me, so you should always expect my calls"
"Sure ma"
Ma? What am I? Fifty? "Just call me Delilah"
"Okay m..a.... Delilah"
I picked up my cup of coffee "so do you have any news for me? Any gossip around the office?"
"No ma... Delilah, I don't have any information for you but about the news going round the office, people are saying that Mr Jake is having s*x with his secretary"
I blinked rapidly out of disgust not surprise. How cliche of him. His secretary? Really? I guess the ride will come faster than expected, all I have to do is to give Juliana prove that her baby daddy is a man w***e. "I need you to do something for me"
"Okay ma"
I decided to ignore his ma syndrome "I need you to drag Jake away from his house"
"Th...at wi...ll b..e diff...cul..t ma"
Why the hell is he stuttering "what did you say?"
"I said that will be difficult ma, I don't even know his house"
"You don't need to know his house, all you need is his number to get the job done"
"It's Saturday ma, it will be difficult to drag Mr Jake out of his house"
What is wrong with this dude? What is he getting paid for if he cannot carry out simple tasks like this one? "Listen to me Jethro, if you cannot do this I'll find someone who can and that means you becoming jobless. My father placed you their easily, he made your life so comfortable that you collect two different salaries every month. Don't think he can't take that away from you"
I heard him release a sigh in defeat "I'll do it, I'll make him leave his house"
"Good, just give me a call once you do that okay?"
"Sure thing ma'am"
"It's Delilah and have a lovely day"
Just as the call ended, Lucas walked in the front door. Is he eaves dropping? "Have you been listening to my conversion?"
He stopped and looked at me in confusion, I guess that answers my question "you think I'll stop outside the door to listen to you talk to whoever it is you are talking to after having such a long and depressing day?"
I wanted to laugh at his facial expression but decided against it "how did it go?"
"What do you expect?" He snapped
I raised my hands up "don't bite my head off, I was just being a concerned sister"
Something flashed in his eyes and before I could understand that emotion, it disappeared as if it was never there. "How was your doctor's visit?"
I shrugged "as it should be"
"Are you kidding me right now? Is that an answer? You know I meant did they find the cause of the constant headaches?"
I opened the magazine and made a show of going through it even though I wasn't really reading it "you expect me to answer that question when you almost chopped my head off when I asked you about your own visit"
He hissed "you know what? Keep your answer to yourself. And for the record, I know you visited Ken with flowers and I must say, that was a cheap move from you" with that, he stomped upstairs into his room.
I blinked once, twice, thrice "what the hell just happened?"
