Chapter 1 - The Beginning After The End

Do humans really have souls?

If indeed humans have a soul, then what kind of world will await us after death?

Is that place heaven? Or is it the hell that people often talk about?

"I never would have thought that this would be the end of my life!"

When William saw that the red blood had flowed from his chest, he subconsciously made a helpless smile. It was as if William had accepted his fate that he would die with no one to remember or prove that he ever lived in this world.

"If only I could turn this boring 'Rules of the World' into something more enjoyable, I might never have tasted a death filled with regret like this."

William sighed sadly and began to recall all the memories from his life.

For William, all the regulations and rules that exist in society have bound all the potential that humans can have. Especially a social rule that says that all human beings have the same degree.

According to his own view, the rule of things like that eliminates one's sense of desire to be ahead of others. With such thoughts, almost 80% of all humans on planet earth have felt a feeling of emptiness in their hearts. They always feel that something is missing in their life.

While William was contemplating a regret, he suddenly felt that his consciousness was slowly fading away.

"s**t… I'm still not satisfied with my current life!"

Just as William was about to close his eyes, he faintly saw a large gray gate with a mural depicting an ancient tree with various tree branches around it.

The huge grey gate was filled with countless cracks as if it had been crushed by an extremely terrifying power in ancient times.

"The gray gate with an image of an ancient tree branching off ... Isn't this the gate of truth?!" When William saw the gray ancient gate, he immediately felt very surprised.

On planet earth, almost all humans who are really steeped in science have never believed in gods or other supernatural things. But there is one thing that scientists of science believe in until today's modern times, that is the legend of the gate of truth.

They all believe that what is behind the gates of truth is the source of everything in this universe. Whether it's a body that never ages which is considered immortality, the beginning of the creation of the universe, or the reason for the existence of human existence. All the mysteries that exist in the universe, all are within the gate of the truth.

Squeak!

While William was still in a state of shock, he faintly heard a loud sound coming from the gate of truth.

Then William saw something terrifying, it was a large vertical eyeball with black pupils that was very mysterious and full of majesty. He felt that all the secrets and experiences of his life from childhood until now had been seen by the vertical eyeball that was behind the gate of truth.

"Damn it!" Upon seeing this, William subconsciously raised his hands to cover his eyes. He ignored the pain in his chest and started screaming in pain from being stared at by those vertical eyes.

The moment William consciousness saw those vertical eyeballs, he immediately felt an unbearable pain against his soul. William's thoughts were immediately invaded by various unknown information and made his soul explode because he could not stand the pressure.

At some place in another dimension.

At this time, William was standing in space. No, perhaps it was more precisely that he was floating in the starry sky.

Whether it was under his feet or above his head, as far as the eye could see, all he could see was a dark blue sky with lots of starlights. The atmosphere here is enchanting and mysterious, like visiting the place of someone who has a high status.

"Hmm? Where is this place? Is this place for someone who has died?"

When William saw that he had been transported to a mysterious place, he was confused. It was because the world after death here didn't match what he had imagined when he was alive.

"Yo!"

Just as William was confused, he heard a mysterious voice from behind him. The voice was very magnetic and sounded neither female nor male.

Curious, William began to turn his body backward. Then he saw a silhouette similar to a human sitting floating in space. Before his own eyes, he saw a human-like figure that had neither flesh nor blood on its body.

The mysterious human-like figure was enveloped in a blackish gray aura with a gray gate behind it. The gray gate had a mural on its surface, the mural was in the shape of an ancient tree with various tree branches running down the bottom.

It was like the world tree that once existed in legends on planet earth. It is said in legend that a world tree is a place that connects one world to another.

"Isn't this the gate of truth I saw back then?!" By the time William saw the grey gate in front of him, his initially surprised expression began to change to one of alertness. That's because he started to remember the black vertical eyes that were behind the gate of truth.

When the mysterious intangible human figure heard William exclamation, he suddenly started to raise his head and glanced at William with a curious look, "Oh? So you're the human being that pulled the door of truth behind me?"

"Are you the Truth?" When William heard the statement from the intangible human figure, his body involuntarily stiffened and asked it in a wary tone.

"Oh? Do you even know about me? It is true! I am the existence of what you guys call the 'core of the world'. In other words, I am the will of the universe itself!" The mysterious, intangible human figure suddenly raised its head towards William and made a wide grin.

Even though William knew that the so-called Truth in front of him had no eyeballs, but somehow he felt an oppressive feeling like he was being stared at by the universe itself.

With a sense of vigilance, William opened his mouth and asked, "What do you want from me?"

In the next moment, William shook his head and opened his mouth to ask another question, "No, it is the most stupid question for a powerful person like you to want something from a lowly human like me. What kind of task do you want me to do?"

When he heard the words that came out of William's mouth, the figure of the Truth immediately smiled broadly, "It's really fun talking to a smart person like you, William!"
