Kori’s POV
“My boy… how are you?” Granny Sahui asked as soon as she saw me.
We shared a quick hug before she hit my head hard.
“Ouch! What was that for?” I asked. She is unpredictable.
“You got time to see me now? I bet Pinki told you about my nearing death. That is why you are here.” She was angry and my throat tightened.
Now when she said it out loud, it felt emotional. She has meant a lot to me. Took care of my broken soul when my parents’ crushed me; so, she was my healer. As I see her thin figure and hollow eyes, it was true. She will be gone…
Her eyes softened and lips wobbled. I felt bad for making her feel my sadness. So, I quickly pinched the bridge of my nose and inhaled sharply before maintaining my composure.
“What? I am a young man. There are tons of things that need my attention; you aren’t the only one I have to see.” I said smugly.
A frown set on her face before she burst out laughing; wheezing actually. It startled me and the others too. I was offended now and she hit my back once again.
“Are you saying you are interacting with people? In your dreams! I know you can’t.” She clearly knows me well but hey, it still offended me.
“It’s your choice to believe or not to. But I do have to see someone, you know.” I shrugged and this time she looked curious.
“Is there a girl in your life now that is not Pinki?” She asked and I almost spurt out water on her face; gaining a smack from her.
“I knew it! You can never get a girl.” She said and I growled, coughing slightly.
“What if he is interested in guys?” Pinki asked and I glared at her.
“What!!!” Granny shouted and it scared me.
God! What was with that energy? I thought she couldn’t even take a step.
“So, he indeed is seeing someone?” Sahui-Chan asked Pinki unbelievably.
“Might be… I don’t know.” Pinki dragged each ending letter to make things obvious while pretending oblivious.
‘Fucker!’
“Oh my, my, my. You parents will kill you my boy. I am dying now so how do you think you’ll handle this situation?” Granny pointed the concern even when it was far from truth.
But now when she mentioned it, my mind wandered to that possibility.
“Can you stop saying it again and again? How can you act so careless about my feelings grandma?” Pinki’s voice cracked and my heart tugged in pain.
“Jeez. It’s fact my baby. So it’s better to accept it and live the remaining minutes happily than crying over it.” Grandpa stroked her head and she fought tears.
“Alright! Stop with the sappiness here. I am hungry.” I tried to change the topic but Sahui-chan wouldn’t drop the topic of me seeing a guy.
Soon enough it caught my attention. I wanted to know something more and she was the only one who can tell me.
Before I could’ve asked her, Pinki gasped loudly.
“What?” I asked and she grabbed my back before grabbing me by my shirt.
“Junia texted. Someone important is coming so you should be there as soon as possible. His words not mine.” Pinki cleared before I could have refuted.
So that is important, no doubt. Junia wouldn’t bother asking me to come if it wasn’t. Immediately, a frail set of arms wrapped around my waist.
“Take care, my boy and always listen to your heart.” She whispered in my head and not going to lie, my heart was stabbed.
It was clearly a goodbye from her side. She knew this was the last chance and I feel like I have so much to talk to her. There are so many things to ask and share but…
“Now off you go. I don’t have enough strength to hurt your bitches parents if they hurt you.” She patted my back before shoving me away.
I smiled and kissed her cheek.
“Thanks a lot, darling and you will always be my valued possession.” I confessed and she laughed gleefully.
“I know. Now go. God bless you.” She waved and I was gone with Pinki pulling me away with her.
My heart was heavy. I was drowning in emotions and as much as I hated it, I knew it was inevitable.
“Don’t worry she lived a happy life.” Pinki said and I scoffed; fighting away my tears.
“Did anyone ask you?” I asked and she groaned.
“Get your ass straight. There is someone coming over your house and your parents need you. That means something.” Pinki brought up the topic.
I gazed at her momentarily wondering why my concern was hers. She was clearly worried about it. She is the best girl.
“Whatever it would be, I am sure it won’t be that bad. They wouldn’t ask me if it was.” I expressed but couldn’t convince her.
Once we reached the T-section, I was suddenly reminded of the omega. I asked Pinki to head back. She needn’t walk me back home unless she had a reason to. Thankfully, she agreed and left.
While I walked home my eyes fleeted to the Block C. Deep down I wanted to have a glance at the Omega but… disappointed.

“There you are!”
I glanced around to see an old couple stand to greet me with wide smiles. My eyebrows lifted in query. They are unrecognizable. Why the hell were they so glad to see me?
“Kori come and meet our guests.” Dad said politely but throwing glares in my direction.
I nodded and respectfully greeted them with slight head bow.
“Oh you’re so handsome. My daughter didn’t lie.” The old lady said and it caught my attention.
“Did I by any chance know your daughter?” I asked and her eyes shone with appreciation.
“Yes, yes. She studies at the same school as yours. Her name is Akari Tanaka. I am Himari and he is my husband, Minato Tanaka.” The woman introduced and I tried to think of that name.
Who is Akari?
“Nice to meet you. Now, if you may excuse me I would like to change.” I excused but my dad interfered.
“No young man. None of us mind if you are in your school uniform. Just wait for few minutes and they would be gone.” Dad was threatening me with his eyes but I shrugged it off.
Junia looked disturbed. So, I decided to stay and took a seat next to him; apart from them but.
“When shall we introduce them?” Dad asked.
Since it was none of my concern I pulled out my phone and started playing games on it. I was aware my dad hated it. He was even trying to get my attention. Who cares anyway? Not me. If he thinks he can dictate me, well he is wrong.
“How about tomorrow, does that sound good?” Tanaka asked and his happiness was bugging me.
Like who the hell is this happy?
“Great. I’ll make sure Kori meets her in school before they meet again at the dinner.” Now, I was interested in whatever my dad said.
So, who was I supposed to meet? Don’t tell me it is about this Akari girl.
“I am sure Kori is eager too.” Mr. Tanaka laughed teasingly and it was making me angry.
“Good. So, again Shounen Hansuma, it’s a pleasure to finally make you a part of our family. We look more from this relationship.” Mr. Tanaka’s wide smile stabbed my heart.
I stood still while he patted my back and left talking to my dad. Meanwhile, I stayed there in shock.
“Kori, you okay?” Junia rushed to my side, contemplating my response but there was none.
“Tell me Junia, what did he mean?” I asked after what seemed like forever.
“Don’t stress my son about this. Be a man and ask me directly.” My father interfered and for the first time his smirk didn’t irk me.
“Then tell me. What are you waiting for?” I asked irritated and he laughed.
“I knew your looks might someday work for you unlike your strength. So, their daughter is interested in you. I am surprised you managed to catch the attention of the Tanaki’s daughter. They are the most powerful alphas of Honsa district. Since you are Hansuma by blood, they want to make this relation permanent by marrying her off to you.” My dad, Mr. Ren Hansuma was pleased by this offer.
As for me? I was stunned.
“I don’t even know her.” I said and he gave an irritated look.
“Shut up! Put efforts in knowing her then. She is an Alpha too. Their breed is strongest. What else do you want? I have heard she is beautiful too. We didn’t even got chance to meet our partners and you are still complaining.” He took a seat on the couch while Junia fidgeted.
“But dad what if she isn’t his mate?” His question froze me.
“Mate? What mate? Where are the hell you’re learning this from Junia? It doesn’t matter in the end.” Dad brushed him off.
“No, dad. I have heard marriages without mate fails. There is no love in it and purely based on duties. It’s too much.” Junia protested and I did was stare at him.
“What are you saying, son? Look at me! Your parents are happy, aren’t we?” He asked and Junia shook his head.
He seemed desperate.
“That’s because you still spend your time with your mates! It’s wrong in all ways. You are basically cheating officially.” Junia seemed mad.
It was surprising. He never argued. Dad was furious now. He stood up and stepped closer towards Junia. It set an alarm off in my head.
“You should stop hanging around him, Junia. I don’t want you to turn up like him! Understand?” Dad pointed at me with disgust and my anger fueled in my heart for him now.
“What do you even know of mates? Yes we spend time whenever possible. It’s hard to live apart but he did not for own good; for this territory! This is called sacrifice. Still, we are happy. Your mom and me. She has given me strong sons, what more is needed?” He asked and this time I was disgusted.
How was I not aware of this? They were seeing their mates? What kind of relationship is this?
“As for you, Kori. Forget what he says. Go and meet this girl. I want to see her smiling when she comes over for dinner tomorrow.” He announced and left.
Mate?
Is that even real?
Or is he right? It wouldn’t harm to see what this girl looks like, right? If she is beautiful and can handle my ass; I think I might give it a chance. Anyway, I wanted a new challenge.
Then why was it bothering me. Suddenly, I was missing those copper eyes.
