Chapter 5

I went to Alpha's room again. At that time Alpha was not in his bedroom. I tried to finish all my work quickly. I changed the bed sheet and cleaned the room properly and did other chores.

I was feeling hungry. Whenever I was passing by the kitchen, The aroma of the food increased my appetite. Sara came and examined my work and found many mistakes in it and forced me to do those things again.

I was very angry at her actions but I was holding on it. She told me to clean the garden that Alpha liked. But I knew she wanted me to do a lot of work. What was her problem?

I went to the garden and started cleaning it. The garden was very beautiful. When it was time for lunch everyone was eating and I was still busy with my work. I wanted to forget about food, but it was hunger not letting me forget it. I felt helpless. I don't know why today I was feeling this. The appetite for food increased and it created a strain on my stomach. I wanted to eat immediately as I was unable to wait due to hunger. But I was punished and my gut was suppressing my appetite by thinking of the consequences of ignoring the punishment. This had never happened to me before. Before today I controlled my appetite. My wolf was growling in anger, and I had to control her before she could take over and cause more trouble for me.

After cleaning and sweeping the garden, I stared at the beautiful flowers. I smelled the scent of those flowers. It was a great way to calm myself down and take my mind off. This garden has various flowers like roses, sunflowers, lilies, daisies. The red, the blue, they were so beautiful. The colors of those flowers made this garden beautiful. These flowers were making the environment fragrant by spreading through the winds with their beautiful fragrance. It was the best place where a person could get relief from a messy life.

“ Amelia!” I turned to Lily's voice. When I saw her, a smile spread on my lips.

I stepped towards her and hugged her, “ I missed you so much.”

“ Me too,” we broke our hug.

“ Whatever I heard, is that true?” she asked as I stared at her in confusion. “That Alpha has made you his personal maid?” she asked and I nodded my head yes.

“ Really… I can’t believe it!” she wondered.

“ So, it means you got promoted!” she seemed so happy as if she were promoted in my place, “Oh my God, I'm so happy for you!”

“But how? As far as I remember, there was nothing like this till last night?” She looked at me in confusion. And I was terrified of what I would tell her. I wanted to ignore it but I knew I couldn't.

“ Yeah, It was sudden.” I said in the hope that this conversation would end easily.

“Explain..” She raised her brows.

“ It’s hard!” I said, unsure of how to explain it.

“ try it!” She forced me.

“ Ummm…. Alpha chose me and then I have been informed.” I said. I couldn't tell her the whole truth. It was not right for both of us. But it wasn't even a complete lie.

“That's all?” She asked and her tone was doubtful.

“Yeah,” I shrugged my shoulders.

She kept looking at me suspiciously for a while without saying anything and suddenly I felt guilty not telling her the whole truth.

Then she spoke, “Whatever it is. But you know, you are so lucky. You have also got a separate room and the best part is that your room is next to Alpha's bedroom.” She hugged me. I wanted to scream at her words. ‘No, you are wrong, Lily. I'm not lucky.’ But I didn’t say anything and I just plastered a fake smile. Wait a minute, my room.

“How do you know about the room?” I asked in surprise.

“ Oh come on, everyone knows. The news has spread that you are now Alpha's maid and living in the room next to him.” She told me with a huge grin on her face. Oh yes, how did I forget that this news must have spread like a fire in the whole pack. Then I remembered my aunt. Oh my sweet aunt, she must have come to know about this. I have to meet her.

“You don't know, Amelia, how much everyone is jealous of you.” She said, smirking.

“ Jealous, huh? They are fools!” I muttered and rolled my eyes. She knitted her brow at my words.

“It's a tough job, you know how ruthless Alpha is..” I gave my opinion on how hard it was for me.

“Yes, you're right it is, but now you have to do only Alpha's work, right? And becoming Alpha's personal maid is not a small thing, it is a great thing. And not everyone gets this position so easily.” she said and I smiled at her. “ Yeah, you are right! It is a big deal.” I said while remembering whatever had happened to me till now. Yes, this position was special for servants and maids and he did not give this position to anyone but he made his mate his personal maid. how ridiculous it was!

“ Oh, I have forgotten the important thing in all these things.” she slapped on her forehead.

“So tell me about your mate?” she asked excitedly.

“Mate?” I was shocked and my smile faded. That was the question I was not ready to answer.

“Yes, did you find him or not?, I am very excited,” she was very curious. What should I tell her?

“Umm… no… not yet,” I said, feeling so bad for lying to her, I couldn't tell her the whole truth that Alpha was my mate. I didn't want to hide anything from him, till today we didn't hide anything from each other. But today I just hid some truth from her and hiding my truth would be right for her.

“Oh don’t be sad, some people take some time to find their mate. He will find you soon,” she said, comforting me. Yeah! He found me but he didn't want me.

I remembered the moment when I came to know who my mate was, and it brought goosebumps to my whole body as my mate Xavier's face appeared in front of me. I felt uncomfortable and uneasy.

My body was trembling, I didn't know why this was happening to me because of hunger or fatigue or anxiety. I stumbled due to dizziness and she immediately grabbed my hand.

“ What happened to you?” She was worried.

“No nothing, I'm just a little tired,” I said, and sat down on the bench nearby. I was worried about today's meeting that I should do everything well.

“ I think you need rest,” she watched me carefully.

“ No, I'm fine!” I assured her. I could not worry her by telling her about my punishment. She was happy for me. It was not that I have never been punished until now. I used to be very careful not to make any mistakes, and anyway my friends were there to help me. But here I was alone.

“Ok, now I have to go.” I stood from the bench. “I have to prepare for the meeting.” I remembered about the meeting that I have to go.

“What kind of meeting?” Lily asked with a frown.

“ The blood meeting.” I said. “Today I have to serve there.”

“What?” She was shocked as if I had said something wrong.

“What happened?” I got scared seeing her pale face.

“Don't you know what happens in that meeting?” she asked worriedly.

“Yes, there are all high-ranking wolves.” I looked at her and continued, “Anyway, I only have to serve them food there, without any disturbance, what do I have to do with their work.”

“It's good if you just serve the food.” She spoke.

“What do you mean?” I was confused.

“ Don't you remember what happened two years ago?

Lara went mad and then killed herself badly,” she said seriously.

“Yeah, I remember.” I said, reminiscing about that incident. I didn't know Lara much, but as much as I knew she was a very nice woman. Everyone was shocked and very sad because of her sudden death like this. I was also very saddened by her death.

“She went to this meeting to work, and went crazy. You know what's next.” She spoke. “I had already heard terrible stories about this meeting, Amelia.. Don't know what happened in this meeting.” The concern for me was evident on her face. I was shocked to hear her.

The information she had just given me was enough to make my body tremble and panic settled inside me. Oh, great…

“You are here and I have been looking for you everywhere.” We both looked towards the source of voice.

Jade was looking at me. She was a maid like me.

“Come on, Lana is calling you,” she said to me and I nodded.

“Okay, I'll see you later.” I said to Lily.

“Take care of yourself.” She said with worry lacing in her tone and my body crushed against her as she hugged me. We both knew that we could not do anything for this, I had to go. I had to ask her many questions, at first I was only afraid of punishment, but now after listening to her, I was afraid of many things. I waved my hand in her direction to say bye and walked out.

I went with Jade to Lana, who was giving instructions to the servants and maids there, but Sarah was nowhere to be seen.

“Where have you been for so long?” Lana scolded me. Before I could say anything, she said again, “This is your first time, so you have to understand everything very well so that you won't mess up.”

“Okay,” I shook my head. Lana and Kobe looked after everything, that the servants and maids were doing their job correctly, what they had to do, etc. So just now Kobe was on vacation, so all the responsibility fell on Lana.

“Mia will explain everything to you.” Lana said. I was very scared, because I had never had the opportunity to work in a meeting before.

We had to serve them according to the preferences of the people present in the meeting. Of all those servants and maids, I was the only one who was going to serve in this meeting for the first time. Looking at Mia, the servants and maids present here, did not seem that they had already worked in any danger or were going to work. They all looked perfectly fine, not like Lana. “And Alpha's mother loves rose wine, so serve it to her,” she instructed me.

Xavier's mother Pamela loved rose wine. Rose wine was more popular in her previous pack. She also had a beautiful rose garden, where she spent time daily with her mate, Alpha's father Frank.
