Chapter 1

1145 Words
Samika's POV I am trying my best not to give any reactions, watching my best friend Olive makeout with Matt. Matthew was my friend when we were in high school. We all know him as the typical bad boy every high school has. We did not know we would get into the same college. Olive is my best friend from college and that's how they know each other now. I was never really close to Matthew. I just spoke nice because that is one familiar face I had, the first day of college. Matt now has a reputation for sleeping with almost half the girl population of our college. And every time he comes to Olive with his puppy eyes, a sorry, flowers, date and a gift.. she melts right in. "Did you guys forget I am here or.." I trail and they finally look at me. Matt just rolled his eyes while Olive gave a sheepish smile. And both reactions are not what I want at this point. "Okay. I'll go get something. What do you want?" He asks us. "Chicken Sandwich and Cola" Olive says with a smile and they give each other a peck making it hard for me to resist rolling my eyes. "I'll have some mental peace if that's on the menu. If not, I'll have a tuna sandwich and water" I tell him and he gives me a stern look before walking away. "I plan this weekend lunch thing with you guys just in hopes that you both can get along well. It hurts me to see my best friend and my boyfriend hating each other" Olive says and I just shake my head pulling my phone out of my purse. I scroll through i********: totally ignoring what Olive is saying right now. I am here just to see Olive and grab my free lunch. Especially after graduation it's getting tough for me to stay at home. Matt is working for a wedding planner banner. He paints the wedding portraits and he has his hands full with it. Olive decided that she would become an arts teacher and she is great with kids so that can be a pass. While I am still trying to figure it out. I have various options to choose from but I just want to take it slow. Painting is what I love and I don't want to rush until I make it my money making skill. I already have lots of it anyway. Matt walks to us and hands us our orders and I notice he got himself nothing. When Olive asked the same he said he wasn't feeling hungry, but ended up having half of Olive's sandwich. I eat my lunch as I pass remarks on Matt here and there. Anyone can look at both of us and instantly know we hate each other. I hate him because I know he is not the one my best friend should be falling in love with. He hates me because he knows my reason to hate him is valid. I look at Olive and smile when I notice she is already smiling at me. Her gorgeous black curls fall on her shoulders and her dark skin has an extra shine today. She is a gorgeous woman and way out of Matt's league. "What are you smiling at?" I ask her with a smile of my own and she just shakes her head. There is a gust of wind when the door is opened since we are sitting close to the entrance door. I involuntarily look at the door and find an insanely hot guy walking in. Olive does not even resist herself as she whispers, "damn" He is tall but maybe not six feet. Doesn't have a lot of muscle but can still be described as strong. His brown hair is slightly messy probably because of the wind. He has goggles on so I still don't know the color of his eyes yet. He scans the place around and his eyes fall on me. I am still staring at him and I realized that when he just smirked at me. I don't even know why I smiled back. This is just me. Stupid stuff and random times. Please don't mind me. He walks to the counter and orders something. "He is hot" Olive says and I just nod at her. I am still wondering why I cannot talk and why I smiled at him like a sheep. "I hope you know you are already dating," Matt says, jealous clearly on the surface. "And I hope you know she is still way out of your league" I say with a stern face and I swear I heard the hot guy chuckle. He must be chuckling at something else but the timing is insane. As if he laughed at what I said. "What is the problem with you?" Matt asks me and I finally peel my eyes off the hot guy and look at Matt. "If we start talking about problems and eliminating those problems, it can get hard because I don't even know how to eliminate you. Unless my best friend dumps you. So let's not get into that debate and bay" I say while Matt just glares at me. The hot guy turns around again with a bag of takeaway. He points his finger at me and towards his upper lip. The f**k he is doing asking me to kiss him in the middle of a food joint. I just shake my head and I don't even know why I am answering to him when I should be shoo-ing him away or flipping him off or something. Like I said, sometimes I act like a sheep and I don't know why. He gestures the same again and I still shake my head. I know I am beautiful and can turn heads easily but this is too much. He removes his goggles and walks towards me as he shakes his head. Once he is close to me and leans over the table I am at, I see his eyes are brown. The same color as his hair. He leans a little more closer and wipes crumbs off the sandwich I was having, that's been sitting on my upper lip. His touch is smooth and delicate. He smiles as he pulls away and walks out with a smirk. He meant this when he gestured towards me and then his lip. Oh wow Samika! I thought you were a sheep but now you turned out to be a f*****g sloth! Taking everything late. "And that was why I was smiling actually" Olive says and I just want to flip her laughing ass right now. I just found an insanely hot guy and embarrassed myself at the same time. Way to go with my single as f**k life!
