(The Strykers; Adams Stryker, Miranda Stryker, Eros Stryker, Martin Stryker, Emerald Stryker)
(ON THE DINING TABLE IN THE STRYKER'S MANSION)
Every member of the Stryker family except Eros was seated for lunch. For over thirty minutes they had all been waiting for Eros to join them.
Adams took a look at the watch on his wrist.
"We should eat now" he ordered.
"But Eros isn't here yet" Emerald whined staring up at her father with big sad eyes.
"We can't keep waiting for him" Adams snapped at the eight-year-old making her flinch.
"Maybe he was caught up with something, he told me he was going to come" Martin stated.
"We are no longer waiting for him and that is final" Adams snapped and slammed his hand on the table making everyone flinch from fear.
"I'm not eating without seeing Eros" Emerald sobbed and ran out of the dining room.
"Adams" Miranda warned her husband with a glare.
Adams had always been apathetic about other people’s feelings. He has never cared for anyone else but himself.
"Don't use that tone with me woman" he barked, glowering at her.
Miranda shook her head, disappointed at her husband's lack of empathy. She got on her feet and left the dining room going in search of her daughter Emerald.
One thing she never seemed to understand was Emerald's love for Eros. If she didn't know better, she would have thought Eros was her dad.
It annoyed her to know her daughter would pick Eros's words over hers. Sometimes, she thought Eros stole all of her daughter’s love for her.
"Emerald" she called.
No answer
"Emerald" she tried again as she steps into the living room seeing Emerald in Eros's arms.
"Emerald!"
****
"Mommy look Eros came. I told you he was gonna come, I told dad" she said excitedly her smile wider than the smile she had ever given her mother. She wrapped her tiny arms around Eros's neck holding on to him as tight as she could.
"Why did you come late?" Miranda questioned Eros.
"I owe you no explanation" he spat, his eyes sparked with irritation.
Eros with Emerald in his arms walked past Miranda heading to the dining room.
"You won't speak to me that way young man" Miranda fumed. She had always disliked Eros for his rudeness and disregard for her. It pisses her off to the core that he never gave her the recognition she deserved.
"Mommy leave him alone. He just got here, we should be happy he's here" Emerald complained throwing are tiny arms up. Miranda’s jaw slackened by her daughter's words.
"Emerald!" Miranda exclaimed as Eros left her sight with Emerald in his arms.
'This is it' she thought. ‘Eros is a bad influence on my daughter, he has turned Emerald against me. This nonsense has to stop!’
She was mad, scratch that, she was furious, seethed with anger and rage.
'This has to stop, I've got to stop this craziness' she said to herself as she marched to the dining room.
"Eros!" Martin exclaimed, a wide smile appearing on his face at the sight of his older brother.
Eros looked at martin and gave him a nod in acknowledgment.
He had never been good at exchanging greetings not even with his family who he had not seen for almost a year.
"And you think you can just walk in whenever you want" Adams yelled and slammed his clenched fist on the table making the plates and silvers shake.
Eros shrugged, gazing down at his father with extreme boredom.
What! He shrugged.
Adams now boiling with rage. He wasn't expecting an apology ‘cause he knew his son, he knew if he got an apology then Eros wasn't his son. They were alike in that manner and every other manner.
Miranda knew all too well Adams and Eros's meeting prior to this never ended well.
The two men hated each other's guts. She knew to end this emerging quarrel, she'd have to calm one of them down, one of which she knew could only be Adams out of the two men.
"Honey, let's not start with this, Eros is here now, let's eat and then you discuss why you called him here." Miranda chipped in trying to ease the tension in the room.
"The airhead isn't so foolish I see" Eros commented.
Putting Emerald gently on her feet, he pulled out a chair and sat.
"You will not talk to your mother like that!" Adams snapped.
"She Is Not My Mother" Eros spat bitterly, his voice dangerously low. He got on his feet about to leave the dining room when Adams spoke.
"We are not done here."
"What do you want?" He asked, turning to face his father with a bored expression on his face.
"You are getting married"
