Chapter Twenty-One When her feet touched the ground at the bottom of the drop, Cherry unfastened her harness. Way up above her, the lights from the excavator glared out, brilliant white in the view through her night vision goggles. The harness and the line it was attached to would remain there until she returned from the Scythian city. Alun had set up a relay so a comm from her current position would be received within the Chimera cavern. Cherry saw a figure lean out over the edge high above and wave at her. The figure was only a small silhouette against the brilliant beams of the excavator, but she guessed it had to be Alun. She waved back, uncertain if he could see her.
