Chapter Nineteen
Pearl was going to lower Cherry down to the Scythian city. Cherry remembered the woman well, and not only due to her blonde hair, green eyes and pale skin. When it came to actually entering the city, Pearl had backed out, saying the place gave her the creeps. Cherry knew exactly what she meant. It wasn’t that the place had once been inhabited by aliens—Cherry had spent plenty of time in the company of the Fila aboard the Opportunity, and had eventually overcome her prejudice against them—there was simply something about the Scythian city that made her skin crawl when she came in close proximity to it. The Fila had never affected her like that.
