Chapter 26: The truth

“Good morning.” I heard a familiar voice as I was sleepily walking down the stairs to the kitchen. I had washed my face in the small bathroom upstairs, but there wasn’t a shower, just a toilet and sink to wash hands and face. The shower and bathtub was in our second bathroom downstairs. Our house wasn’t big. The ground level had a kitchen and living room and upstairs we had three bedrooms, each with a small room for toilet and sink but for a small family like ours, it was more than enough. “Good morning,” I said in between yawns. Emmett laughed at me, but said nothing else. “I prepared coffee. You can just start the kettle and pour the water,” he informed me. That was great.
