the prophecy
For centuries, the term prophecy has been utilized to denote a message of divine or supernatural origin believed to foretell the future. This was precisely what the current situation was. "The prophecy was passed down years and years passed down in the realm of the supernatural for many years people didn't believe it to be true but some did," she whispered to her son as she kneeled beside him on the bed.
The woman's name was Seraphina. Today she was the most powerful vampire and that was no surprise as she was born into a powerful vampire family in the realm. She possessed an otherworldly beauty and a fierce determination that set her apart from all other vampires including her family. She was destined to become a queen, ruling over her people with an iron fist and a heart of ice.
"It speaks of a witch, the most powerful among all other witches. But she will bring destruction upon all the witches that she came across," she gazed down at her little boy, catching him gazing back at her. His sapphire coloured eyes look like the sun was simmering of them. The young boy's dirty blonde hair was messy, unlike how his mother had put it that morning so he could go to school.
She had told this tale countless times to him, yet he never seemed to get tired of hearing it. Her father was the one who told her about the tale and it was her brother who decided to tell him the story the first time. When asking him why he told her son the prophecy, he said it would be good for the boy to learn the prophecy. As her most trusted advisor and confidant she thought it was a good idea.
One day her son would become the first ruler of both the vampires and the Lycans. As an immortal, he cherished these moments with his mother, knowing they would be precious memories to him in the future. The boy also knew of the deep bond that his mother and uncle had. That is why every time that his uncle was visiting he would have him tell him of a story. The boy had learnt that his mother and uncle were a formidable team, ruling over the vampire kingdom with a balance of strength and cunning. That's how he wanted to rule.
"Every breath she took was like a death sentence for her people. The royal sorcerers were cursed because of her, but they sought revenge. They stole her magic and sealed it within a book, which became known as the sorcerer's book. It became a powerful tool for anyone who possessed it," she looked down at her son when she heard a small sound there he was still staring up at her.
She didn't know if he was paying attention to her or not but she went to continued. However the boy spoke up "Mum did they ever consider why, I mean in our world there are always other thing in play. She could have been a good person, like the mortal girl".
"Yes the other part of the prophecy speaks of a mortal girl who will one day be born with magic. She will be the most dominant witch of her generation, not because she finds the book but because her heart is the purest of them all," she continued.
"So she could have been a good person and like dad says just dealt the wrong thing in life. Mother, will this girl be good or bad? You said she will have the purest of hearts, but what if she doesn't know how to control her power? Power can corrupt, and she may desire more and take it. What if she becomes greedy?" the young boy asked, though only five he displaying wisdom beyond his years.
This wisdom would make him a good leader. The boy had already shown that he would be a good future king to the two species. His mother looked down upon him like an angel and smiled at him. She could see the person he would become. One that was smart and strong. Ruthless but also merciful and with that she got off the bed. "Look at the time it's time for bed. You have school in the morning,' she said, leaning in to kiss him on the forehead.
She never answered his question, he had asked it a few times. She told him the story every night. He trusts his mother with his life. She was the vampire queen he had heard stories of how brave his mother was in the face of war.
One day she knows she has to tell him the second side of the story, of the prophecy she never told him.The prophecy spoke that the human girl who would be mated to the king of the other two species. It was said that this union would bring peace and harmony among the species, ending the constant battles and bloodshed. So as he got older she knew that she had to tell him of his side of the prophecy, his role in it. She had kept it hidden for so long, afraid of how he would react. But she knew that the time had come for him to know.
Seraphina had always believed in the power of love since she met her mate. She knew that with the right amount of love her son's mate wouldn’t turn evil like those before her. She thought that he had met his mate now a little girl called Zola that he always hung out with. The girl was mortal and her son did say that he felt a connection to her. His eyes would light up when she was around, and he would go out of his way to make her laugh. Seraphina knew that this may be a mere childhood crush and if her instinct were right they wouldn’t know until Axel turns sixteen. But she hope that Zola was his mate so she could watch for signs of her magic coming and to protect her.
