Alex helped with the reopening of the Casino, allowing me to stay with Sage and ease her fever.
Jax was an absolute mess in my head the entire time Sage remained asleep; her fever refused to break as I held her, and her whole body shook violently with chills, Even though the bond should have calmed her fever and my body heat should have been comforting. I felt useless in my efforts to help her.
It was impossible to get a doctor involved since many would still report back to the other lords and Alpha, and it was apparent Sage's fever was linked to the power she held. The book detailed how extraordinary she was, but it also described how wanted and hunted she would be when more discovered the secret.
