I kept mostly to the shadows as I silently crept towards the motel. I had already mind-linked Alex, so as soon as I was close enough to grab the knob myself, he cracked open the door, allowing me to slide in undetected.
“Sage is sleeping again. I got another room next door, so I’ll leave and give the two of you time alone,” Alex whispered before sliding out of the door.
Sage’s hair was fanned out around her on the pillow as she lay in the center of the bed. Her lips were slightly parted, giving her both an angelic and child-like appearance. As I walked closer, my hand brushed against Sage, causing her to groan and shift slightly.
