New Beginnings

Ashlyn After dealing with the dealership and being guaranteed the vehicle would be ready for pickup tomorrow afternoon, Grace drove us to a hotel. She parked the SUV out front, and the valet came over to get our bags and park the vehicle. I looked up at the building in awe. " Are we really staying here?” my aunt chuckled as she stood beside me. “This isn’t even the best part,” she said as she linked her arm with mine and led me inside. The place was beautiful. White marble and columns filled the lobby with vases full of flowers. This place screamed money, I thought, as she pulled me up to the desk to check in. “Can I help you?” The woman asked, not taking her eyes off the computer before her. “This is Ashlyn Knight, and she would like a suite, please?” Grace smiled. She glanced from the screen at us. A man stepped out of an office behind the desk, “Miss Knight, it is good to meet you finally,” he came around the desk and shook my hand. “I’m the manager here at the Emerald Forest Suites and Spa. He looked at his employee, “Tiffany, please book the owner’s suite.” Then he held out his hand to my aunt, “I’m Grace, Ashlyn’s aunt,” she introduced herself while shaking his hand. “It's good to meet you both,” he nodded. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to ask.” “Sir,” she held out the room card keys to him. He took them and handed them to me. “The suite is on the top floor; use those elevators,” he pointed to behind us. “I will have your bags sent up right away.” “Thank you,” my aunt said, “we are going to get lunch.” “Of course, follow me.” We were seated in front of a roaring marble fireplace. I felt out of place in a place like this; I had never been anywhere this fancy before. Even looking at the prices on the menu, I was in disbelief, and I just paid cash for a sports car. I can’t believe my parents owned all this. “Have you thought about what you will do now that you have more options?” Grace asked before taking a sip of her wine. We had already ordered and were waiting for our meals. I shrugged, taking a sip of my soda. “I don’t know. The Alpha King has a college in his pack. I could go there.” She reached her hand out and placed it over mine, “Brad and I will support you, whatever you decide. Even if you want to travel the world, all I ask is that you call me from time to time.” I smiled. “Always.” When we were finished, we headed up the elevator to our suite. We will have an early night to get an early start tomorrow. Grace needed to get back to her mate and job at the hospital. Before moving elsewhere, I wasn’t sure how long I would stay in the city. The suite was impressive, with two bedrooms and bathrooms. The living room had large windows, and you could see the entire city. It was beautiful, and I could start a new life here, but driving back to the pack would be too easy, to Ian. I love Ian. It was just some high school fling. I love his family and our pack. I don’t know if I would be strong enough to reject him again. That probably makes me pathetic. How could I be with someone who hurt me, who betrayed me in the worst possible way? I would have given him anything; all he had to do was ask, but he looked for it elsewhere instead. I jumped when my aunt touched my arm, “Are you alright?” I was lost in thought as I stood by the window looking over the city. Shrugging, I looked at her, “I don’t know,” I brushed away a few stray tears. “I don’t understand why he would do something like this. Was I that bad of a girlfriend?” A sob escaped me when she pulled me into her arms. “You were the perfect girlfriend, sweetie. He was the one that couldn’t see it. This isn’t your fault.” She held me while I cried on her shoulder. The sun was setting on the worst day of my life since my parents died. Tundra whined, “I miss him too.” I felt worse for my wolf. I had rejected the other half of her soul, and now I didn’t know if she would ever get a second chance. Rubbing my back, “You should take a bath and get some rest for our fun day tomorrow.” I pulled back and nodded. She kissed my forehead, “I love you so much.” “I love you.” Walking to my room, my heart was heavy, and my thoughts were never-ending. What was I going to do?
