I knew he would find me, just like he said he would. He always knew the perfect place to search, so he could take me back home and make me his punching bag again.

But there was a difference now.

He found me in a place where I was untouchable because my savior was there.

Damien was there.

---

Persephone was on the run, she had managed to escape her abusive father but could not go far because of the wounds he had inflicted on her. The next day, she found herself in a mansion in the middle of nowhere that belonged to Damien Black, who happened to be a vampire, the third generation of the Heiten clan which earned him the title "Heiten The 3rd".

This was a sudden turn of events for Persephone but she was more than thankful because to her, anything was better than suffering in the hands of her father.

House In The Woods.
Persephone's POV. The sound of the gravel under my feet was the only sound I could hear as I ran farther away from the small house. This was not the first time this was happening, neither was it the second. Normally, he would only beat me when I did something wrong or when he was drunk, but for the past few days, it was nonstop. The sharp pain in my side was what halted my steps. Lifting my shaky hands to my side, I could already feel the dislocation of two of my ribs. There was a gash accross my chest and one above my eyebrow. I had forgotten that I even had these wounds until I felt the pain, I just needed to get out of that house. I could clearly recall the sound of his voice telling me that he would find me and bring me back. He always did. The thought alone brought tears to my eyes. Somehow, whenever I ran away, he always found me and when he did, he would take me home and beat me till I saw death's back but he would never let me die. As I ran into the alley, I pressed my hands against the wall to support myself. It was no use, my lungs were giving out and I was bleeding so much. I blinked my eyes rapidly, trying to remove the blur in them so I could go further but I could not. I slid to the ground against the wall, hissing when the gash accross my back made contact with it. Placing my head on my knees, I closed my eyes and sighed, praying to everything holy that I never open them again. I sat up abruptly and the first thing I noticed was the fact that I was no longer in the dark alley and the next was my very different surroundings. Very very different. I was on a king sized bed in the middle of a large room with white walls and porcelain ceiling. The room was well furnished with white wardrobe and side stools with golden handles. It felt like I was in another dream, only a less mysterious one. Climbing out of the bed with caution, I looked out the show glass and all I could see were trees. I walked over to it, loving the feel of the fuzzy room carpet against my feet. I pressed my palms against the glass, staring outside in awe. There was a large area of cleared land that led straight into the woods. I could see the trees from there. "Where am I?" I muttered. Has my stepfather managed to find me? The thought alone sent fear down my body. "You should not be walking around" A deep voice told me. The voice belonged to a tall male that entered the room. I immediately backed away to the wall in fear, making him furrow his brows. "W-who are you?" My throat was making it difficult to talk because not only was it constricting, it was also as dry as a desert. He took slow steps towards me as if expecting me to run away. I just looked at him. "I saw you in an alley, wanted to help cause you were passed out and bleeding so much" He said blankly with a shrug. I stared him down prudently. This man does not look like a person who would take a bleeding girl off the street-- speaking of blood, where are my wounds. I looked down at myself and pulled my shirt up a little to see a bandage accross my stomach. Shocking, because I did not feel a thing. I pulled my hands up to my chest to inspect the gash there but there was another bandage there. It felt like there was nothing underneath the bandage. "I don't feel anything" I said in a small voice. The stranger nodded and walked out of the room for a second. He returned with a glass of water and some pills. "Swallow it all" He instructed. "I don't need drugs. I am fine" I walked to the bed and sat down with my hands on my knees. "Who are you?" I asked again. "Damien" He said his name like he was talking to a child who was not worth his attention. This confused me because he helped me and even bandaged my wounds. Or did he? "You won't tell me yours?" He asked "Persephone" He nodded. "There are clothes in the wardrobe. You could take a shower in there" He pointed to the bathroom "then come down to eat" I stared confounded at him and his words. Why is he helping me further? He sees I am fine and can go home so why isn't he sending me home?. I mean I understand that he helped me but that too has a limit, doesn't it? Am I to live with him now? "You are not listening to me" He stated. "What?" "I said you could sleep here for the meantime" He turned to leave but my lips parted against my own will. "Uhm.....why are you helping me" "You are going to help me a lot in the future" He said this matter-of-factly. "How?" "You will see when the time comes" The corner of his lips turned up slightly. I realized that I was too dazed to actually take in the young man infront of me. He was the most good looking male I had ever seen and I did not even need to think to come to that conclusion. He had grey-blue eyes that looked like contacts because of how beautiful they were. His skin was pale white beneath his black tank top. His hair was slicked back and neatly gathered in a black band in the middle of his head. He had a few rings here and there, two on his left ear and one on his right, he had two studs near his eyebrow but there were other holes as if he had only temporarily removed some of them. His fingers were clad in rings but from my angle, it was surprising that someone with as much rings did not have a single tattoo, although I could not say for sure since he wore clothes. Somehow, he managed to look more beautiful that female celebrity models, talk less of the males. "I do not even need to ask if you like what you see. The color of your cheeks tell me you are loving it" He said this like it was a joke but he wasn't smiling. The aura he exuded made it very easy to be intimidated by him. I pressed my palms to my cheeks and huffed when I felt how hot they were. He walked out of the room and I went to change. -- I sat up from the bed, and I noticed that it was still dark. I could not sleep, I had closed my eyes in an attempt but I tossed and turned until I could not. I climbed out of the bed and slowly walked out of the room. I needed a glass of water to soften my hard and dry throat. I tiptoed through the hallway till I got to the living room. I sighed in relief that nobody was there, but when I got to the kitchen, I halted in my tracks. Damien stood there, leaning against the counter facing me and sipping on a glass of water. I could hear my heart beating through my ears and I forgot how to breathe. What is he doing here? "Uh-uhm I needed a gla--" "You really think you could sneak around like a thief in this house and not get caught?" He looked smugly at me. "I thought you were asleep. I did not want to disturb" I bowed my head because staring at his eyes made me dizzy. "You don't have to worry about that" "What?" "Why aren't you asleep? I thought humans fall asleep immediately their asses are on a comfy bed" I stared dumbly at him. What does he mean by humans? He speaks as if he is not part of us. "I could not sleep" He nodded. He had a habit of doing that. He stared at me with a blank face as he leaned on the counter. "What happened to you?" He finally asked. "It is not necessary" I walked up to the fridge to pull out a bottle of water. "I will find out either way" He said cockily. "How?" I turned to him, placing the bottle on the counter. He began to take steps towards me, making me take some back till I was pressed against the wall. His eyebrows furrowed deeply as he looked into my eyes. He tilted his head to the side, still looking at me like he was trying to read a book. Suddenly, he shut his eyes and groaned loudly, as if in agony. I moved towards him to touch him. "Are you okay?" I tried to touch him but he flinched and suddenly grabbed my wrist, making me gasp. He opened his eyes and stared wide-eyed at me and the first thing I noticed was that his eyes had changed color, from the beautiful grey-blue to a dark blue, almost black color. To say I was scared would be the understatement of the century. Images of my father's face during his episodes pervaded my thoughts. The sudden change in the color of his eyes, his firm hold on my wrist and the coldness I suddenly began to feel at his touch, all these inflicted deep fear in me and I was having difficulty breathing. He pushed me further into the wall and grabbed my other wrist, pinning both of my wrists above my head. "What are you?" He growled.
