Chapter Seven

Chapter Seven Havoc I watched her as she gazed around the small run-down house that had been my childhood home. I had a lot of memories here. Some of them good, most of them bad. And it felt strange to have a stranger, a woman no less, looking around, running her fingertips over the sides covered in the framed photographs. Leaving trails in the dust. “Is this your mum?” For a second, I could do nothing but stare at her as she stood there awkwardly with the photograph in her hand, and my heart hammered in my chest. This was a bad idea. I hated being here, but I hated anyone else being here more. Especially her. “Yeah.” I plucked the frame from her hands, setting it back down where it belonged. She had to stop touching things; otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to cope with her being here. Something so sweet amongst all the nightmare memories of my past. “Stop touching my stuff.” I didn’t mean for my voice to come out quite so angry. I definitely didn’t mean to cause the fear that swept into her eyes. “Your mum was very beautiful.” She said it quietly, her hand kind of hovering in the space between us. As if she didn’t quite know what to do with it. “You look just like her.” “Are you saying I’m beautiful?” I forced the anger down. She didn’t deserve it. I didn’t even know her, and I knew she didn’t deserve it. “I think you’re a bit too manly to be called beautiful.” Her eyes flicked up to my face and then back down again, suddenly awkward. “So you don’t think I’m hot?” I stepped into her space. And she took a step backwards. I made her uncomfortable, which was good. It was much better than her making me feel uncomfortable. “Darcie?” “You know you’re hot Havoc; you don’t need me to stroke your ego. I have a feeling it’s big enough already.” Moving my hand, I curled it around her hip. Those god damn hips made my mouth flood with saliva. I squeezed softly. “Do I make you nervous?” She was definitely feeling something. I had been around women for long enough to know when they were nervous. When they felt that spark of attraction and were fighting it. “I’m pretty sure we have had this conversation before.” She whispered it, that sweet lilting voice husky as she tipped her chin upwards, her eyes meeting mine. Yeah, we had had this conversation before. And I was all for having it again if it ended the same way it did then. “Yeah, but you can refresh my memory if you like?” I pulled her towards me. Bumping my hips against hers and loving the ways her eyes widened. Jesus H Christ, I wanted her. “Where’s the bedroom?” The corners of her lips tugged upwards—a smile playing across her face. And I returned it with one of my own. “The bedroom, huh?” I was all for the bedroom; hell, I was all for doing her right here where we stood. Even the thought of her body wrapped around mine was making me throb. I jerked into her again, harder this time. “Do you have a shower?” Did I have a shower? Oh, I had a shower, and I was planning on showing her just how dirty we could get in it. Maybe having a woman around the house wouldn’t be so bad after all. Having a woman as beautiful and eager as Darcie at my beck and call wouldn’t be a bad thing at all. I might even enjoy it. No, that was wrong. I knew I would enjoy getting down and dirty with her “You wanna take this in the shower?” “I want….” She pressed her small hand against my chest. “Alone, I want a shower alone, and I would like to see where I will be sleeping.” Her eyes dropped, her bottom lip disappearing under her teeth as she worried it. “I am sorry if I gave you the impression that I wanted something more. “ Using her hand as leverage, she tried to step away. “You do want more, Darcie.” My grip tightened. “You just like torturing me. You like the game. And that’s fine.” My hand slipped from her hip to sweep across the curve of her ass. “I don’t mind playing the game.” I let her go so suddenly that she stumbled backwards. And I bit back a laugh. Yeah, she wanted it. Wanted me. She might be fighting against it. But she did. “Come on, let me show you around.” *** “So this is where we will be sleeping.” Opening the door, I stood back to let her pass. Closing the door behind us. I don’t know what made me do it. Habit maybe. “We?” She turned to me as the door clicked softly behind us. And that damn lip disappeared again. I let my eyes follow it. I wanted to taste that lip again. Sure we had kissed. More than once, but only that first time had actually been real. Not that I was complaining, but part of me kind of wanted real. And all of me definitely wanted her. Her on her back, her on all fours, her on her knees. “Yes, we.” Every part of me wanted to pull her towards me. Grind my throbbing c**k against her belly just to hear that breathy hitch to her breath. “We have to keep up appearances. Plus, the rest of the house is…” I gave a shrug. “The rest is a little outdated.” “So we are going to be sleeping here together, alone?” “You scared you won’t be able to control yourself?” I gave a laugh, moving around her, so my shoulder brushed hers. “Don’t flatter yourself.” She sounded put out, but I wasn’t fooled. Sure I wanted her. She was a beautiful girl and her being my brother’s ex-fiancé just made it even sweeter, but I wanted to make her come to me. I wanted her to beg. “How about a nice friendly wager then?” Crossing my arms, I watched her with a smile. “Whoever caves first is the loser? Winner gets whatever they want?” “Deal.” She didn’t even hesitate, her eyes shining as she held up her hand. “But I should let you know that I don’t lose at anything I put my mind to.” Slowly I wrapped my fingers around her palm. Grinning down at her. “Game on Darcie.” Slowly, my eyes never leaving hers, I raised her hand to my lips. “Shower is through there.” I tilted my chin. “Hurry up, though; I’m taking you shopping.” *** Shopping with Darcie was like shopping with no one else I had ever met before. She was always so put together I had expected more high-end clothes shops, of which we had only one anyway, and way more squealing. She surprised me. Grabbing a few essential items took her less than ten minutes, and then she was dragging me down the road towards the local farmers’ market. A f*****g farmers’ market. Like we were an actual couple just out shopping. And I watched her in awe as she dashed forward, her hand reaching for a pile of apples. Their rosy skin shone in the sunlight. That’s when she squealed. She picked one up. And with a smile bit straight into the flesh, juice dripped down her chin. Swallowing hard, I arranged my jeans to hide my ever-lengthening d**k. What the hell was wrong with me? Not only was I in a god damn farmers’ market with a girl, but all it took was her biting into an apple, and I got an instant hard-on. “We need to get going.” Crossing my arms across my chest, I gave her my best scowl. The scowl that made grown men piss themselves. “Oh, come on, spoilsport.” She danced to me. Her fingers entwined with mine. “We need groceries anyway.” “We can get take out,” I answered, but I didn’t let go of her hand. I kind of liked holding it. “Don’t you want a home-cooked meal?” I thought about it. Watching her face. Yeah, I wanted a home-cooked meal, but I wanted something more. “One hour Darcie because I have club s**t to do.” I held up one finger, and her smile grew wider. She thought she had won this round. I pulled on her hand. “On one condition?” “And what’s that? “ she was still smiling, still laughing. That was fine. She didn’t know me yet, so she didn’t know that I never lost. I wasn’t about to lose our bet either. “Kiss me.”
