Hailey Nyx Jaden
Draven and Kathy took us inside the dormitories near our campus, it’s a very huge building for those warriors and human dragons that lives far away from the gates of the different districts.
Kathy told me that Ash called Draven in their mind link when our house was attacked, Ash asked if he knows a place that we could stay somewhere for tonight and Draven suggested the dorms which Ash immediately accepted. I was really touched because they even helped us with our papers. We owe them a lot.
The whole building was covered with white marbled tiles even on the walls, it smells so fresh and clean maybe because they just finished building it last year ago.
We climbed a lot of stairs and finally, we have arrived in our room, Draven opened the door for us using our keycard and gave it to Ash as we all went inside the room.
I was astounded upon seeing that it has a living and dining room on the inside, there’s a red comfy looking couch and a thick glass table on the center, a transparent diamond-shaped glass can be seen from the ceiling that serves as our light in the whole room, there’s an enormous walk-in closet that contains some extra uniforms for a boy and a girl, our bathroom has bathtub and showers so you can tell that it’s really huge too. I walk towards the kitchen island only to see that the fridge is full of goods and the stools look like it wasn’t used yet.
I could almost see the utensils shining like it was freshly bought from the market.
There’s one king-sized bed on the right side of our room, that must be the bedroom, all the furniture and paintings were combinations of white and black even our curtains and rags. Just how big this one room is? It’s better than our house.
“We’ll let you settle in first and come back here later so you can fill us the exact details of what really happened,” Draven said, which made me smile.
“Ven, Kathy thank you,” Ash said in a half-smile while holding my hands so tightly.
“Yes, thank you guys so much for everything,” I mumbled, but they just shook their heads while smiling at us.
“Don’t mention it, see you guys later,” Draven said as he opened our door for Kathy, she immediately went out while jumping like she’s really excited.
“Bye Nyx! See you later!” she beamed, which made me smile. Right after they closed the door, I exhaled out a lungful air still trying to take in what really happened. Ash squeezed my hands as if he’s trying to comfort me which I find really warm and fuzzy on the insides.
“Hey, I’ll let you settle your things in the bedroom…if you’re still uncomfortable sleeping with me I could sleep on the couch,” he said making me flinched, is he trying to make me feel guilty? Why would I let him sleep on the couch when he saved me earlier?
I shook my head and opened the bedroom door for him “No it’s fine, we can sleep there together so you can settle in first and um…we’ll go to the market tomorrow so we could buy you some decent clothes… using your money of course,” I said, which made him chuckle that I found really attractive.
“Aye, aye captain!” he muttered while saluting at me again which made me shook my head. He’s acting like a kid again. I smiled when I remembered that he gave me some raw eggs and bacon, that was really funny.
When I felt my cheeks heat up because of his stares, I immediately faced the kitchen and went towards over there “B-Be fast, I’ll cook us some dinner since we really haven’t eaten yet,”
After I went towards the kitchen, I decided to cook curry for four people I was happy because almost all the kitchen utensils that I need are there. This dorm really is convenient. When I was finally done, I faced the kitchen island and was astounded upon seeing Ash there and is currently staring at my back intently.
“A-Ash…you scared me, are you done fixing up your things?” I asked and he just nodded while smiling which made me sigh.
“You must really love curry huh?” he asked, which made me look at him again. His silver almost glowing eyes mesmerized me for a moment.
“Yeah I do, this is the last meal that I have tasted when my mom was still here before when I was five, it was the best meal I have ever tasted and I really wanted to learn this before so I can say this one’s my best-cooked meal,” I muttered happily, which made him smile.
“When I was still a kid, I’ve met someone that really gloats about how she likes her mother’s cooking most especially the curry, we played a lot but…something really dangerous happened and I never got the chance to see her again…but I’m glad I found her,” he said mysteriously as he looked at my eyes intently.
What does he mean that he found her? Does he have a girl best friend?
“W-Wow it almost sounded like we’re the same,” I joked, which made him smile while shaking his head.
“Is it done yet?” he asked, so I just nodded as I went to get some plates and utensils towards the dining table.
“Yaaaay! Curry! Curry! Curry!” he cheered, which made me smile as I ordered him to help me set up the table.
A few moments later, somebody knocked on our door and Ash opened it letting Draven and Kathy inside of our room. Kathy immediately went to my side to hug me so I smiled and ask them to sit with us in the dining room.
“It smells so good! Did you cook this Nyx?” Kathy asked while inhaling the curry on the table. She looks like she wanted to dig in as soon as possible.
“Yeah I did, we didn’t get the chance to have dinner at our house because of what happened and I was hoping you guys can join us too, my way of thanking you guys today,” I said while gesturing them to sit and they just obliged.
“Wow, you shouldn’t have bothered Nyx,” Draven said which made me shook my head.
“I cooked this for everyone so let’s dig in before we talk about things,” I said, which made Kathy and Ash cheer like kids as they raced on who will get more rice and curry.
I blushed when everyone moaned in delight right after tasting my cooked meal, it almost looks like their eyes were twinkling like the stars in the night sky.
“HOLY—THIS TASTE SO GOOD!” they shouted out in unison, which made me laugh as we shared our dinner for tonight. Everything was fine until someone opened up the topic that has happened a while ago.
“So…what really happened earlier?” Draven asked, which made me drink my glass of water before answering him.
“Like what Ash said we’ve been attacked by two men in black cloaks,” I said, which made Draven and Kathy looked at each other with their eyes widened.
“W-Why? What’s wrong?” I asked, slightly nervous about what they’re about to say to me. Ash was still busy eating his curry but I know for sure that he’s listening.
“Did you guys do something that pissed other dangerous people?” Kathy asked like she’s worried for us so I slowly shook my head.
“No…I don’t get out that much and Ash…” I looked at Ash only to see that he’s still eating, does Ash has enemies? Or those were my enemies?
“Black cloaks, only our enemies wear that kind of outfit…If I’m not mistaken, I think they’re part of the Shadow Army,” Draven said, which made me glance at him. Shadow Army?
“S-Shadow Army? Was does that mean?” I asked that made them look at me with questioning glares. My head slightly hurt upon saying those words… what was that?
“Wait a minute, you really have no idea what the Shadow Army is?” Draven asked, so I shook my head which made them gasped.
“Seriously?! Other than the volcanoes, thick vines thorns, and some nature destruction… Shadow Army’s one of the threats that are really dangerous in our world most especially to our kind being warriors,” Kathy said while drinking a glass of water.
“W-What why? I didn’t hear of it…before,” I said while touching my head, it’s really hurting so bad right now.
“Shadow Army's are human dragons and warriors that goes against the rules of the five leaders of the district, some say that one of them possesses a very special and dangerous element that once spread havoc in this world last 12 years ago, rumors say that a legend has saved us from those dark years,” Kathy explained so I remained silent while listening to her since I was really busy enduring my pain on my head.
Legend? Twelve years ago? That was also my darkest years when I was still a child, I lost my mother and father back then.
“B-But I thought there are only four leaders in our University?” I asked, which made her glance at me and sadly smiled.
“Yeah, but there were five before but the Leader of the Mortal District disappeared too 12 years ago right after the darkness has ended, some say that she helped on stopping the Shadow Army from spreading more havoc in our world…and they didn’t vote anyone else for her blank position because they’re still expecting her to come back,” she explained, which made me nodded.
“Do you know who that mortal was?” I asked, but she just shrugged while massaging her chin.
“I don’t really quite remember…was it, Genevieve? Hey Draven, do you remember who was the Leader of the Mortal District?” she glances at Draven who is just busy thinking too while massaging his chin.
“No, but it’s not Genevieve I know for sure it starts from the letter R… Regi— Regina Nyx!” Draven said, which made me really surprised…m-my mother?
“My mother was the Leader of the Mortal District?” I asked, which made their eyes bulge like they’re really surprised upon hearing it to me.
“Wait what?! You’re the daughter of Regina Nyx? She was married?!” Kathy screamed, which made us shush her down.
“Where is she then? I can’t believe you’re her daughter!” Draven exclaimed, which made me sigh. How should I tell them that they’re gone now?
“I-I...um...they died in an accident when I was five,” I solemnly said, which made them stop. The deafening silence surrounded us like they have opened a very critical topic for me.
I can’t believe that my mother was the Leader of the Mortal District…I didn’t know that even my Uncle didn’t tell me that.
“O-Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry about that Nyx,” Kathy said worriedly, but I just smiled at her while shaking my head.
“It’s alright…no biggie,” I honestly said, which made her sigh in relief before continuing to tell us their stories about the past.
“Some said that other than thunder, ice, poison, and fire there are two more special elements that are really dangerous if passed down to the wrong person, those two elements were separated between the human dragons and mortals/warriors by our G.O.D., the Guardian of Dragons from above. One of the mortals was chosen to hold one element and one human dragon was chosen to hold the other one so if these two collided with each other…we still don’t know what will happen,” Kathy added. Two special elements were given by God? What was that?
“But I heard that it happened years ago that’s why havoc was spread throughout our world, to be honest, what happened in the past isn’t really that passed down by the people in our world, we’ve only heard this from our parents who just have a glimpse of the happenings in the past,” Draven explained, which made me nod. I didn’t know that there’s a lot of things that I don’t know…I used to read books a lot.
I looked at Ash and he looks like he’s just listening to what they are telling us. He didn’t talk a word even after we finished eating our food.
“Oh, by the way, Nyx…if you don’t mind me asking…who is your father?” Draven asked, which made me glance at him.
“My father’s name is Aries Jaden,” right after I muttered those words, were disturbed by the faint knock that was coming through our door.
To be continued….
