Mia’s POV
As I walked out of Richard's office I couldn't help but feel jealous and at the same time mad about everything.
I couldn't believe that after all these years that I had waited for my mate, I ended up meeting with someone who made it look like I didn't exist.
After seeing how happy Richard was talking to that woman, I was jealous and a bit insecure about the fact that Richard might not want to be with me because I'm way younger than he is and probably inexperienced.
As I dragged my feet across the hallway, a guy approached me. From the first look, I could tell that he was new around as I had not seen his face before.
I know it's impossible to know everyone that attends my college, but seeing his really cute face and his beautiful eyes made me feel I would have known if he had been around for long.
My friends would have fished him. No cute guys pass by them without notice.
“Hi, sorry for stopping you, my name is Kelvin,” he said stretching out his hand.
“Hi, Mia” I answered taking his hand for a shake.
“Nice name,” he said while wearing a really cute smile that revealed his nice dimple.
I couldn't tell why but I found him charming, maybe because he was in the same age bracket as I was or because I needed someone to distract me from thinking about my hot professor who turned out to be my mate.
“Thanks,” I answered as I could feel heat rush up my cheeks. Sorry, are you a new student?” I couldn't help but ask.
“Yeah. I guess it's easy to tell, right? He asked, staring deep into my eyes which made me a little nervous.
I couldn't but chuckle lightly at his words.
“Are all the girls in this school as pretty as you or do you just happen to be the luckiest,” he asked with a smile.
Hearing him say I was cute made me blush even harder, I wished Richard was close by to hear Kelvin call me pretty.
But he must be kissing that other lady for all I care. Thinking of what they might be doing after I left his office soured my mood.
“You are really sweet, Kelvin, but I am afraid I have to meet up with my friends, they are waiting for me,” I said while already taking a few steps away from him.
“Well, I guess I would have to wait for my turn then because I was hoping you could show me around since I am still clueless about where to go or who to speak with,” he said.
“Sure, why not? See you around,” I answered with a smile before hurrying off.
All through my lunch, I couldn't help but think about Kelvin, I thought he was really cute and had a way with words.
Don't get me wrong, as an alpha's daughter, I have had countless guys make passes at me, but none of them have ever interested me the way Kelvin did.
Good thing that Jasmine and my brothers were not at the cafeteria to ask me questions about what I was thinking of.
My friends were too busy spilling hot gist about hot campus couples who had broken up to notice my absent-mindedness.
I was glad when lunch break was finally over, and I was sort of excited to go back to class. Partly because I was looking forward to seeing Richard and secondly because I was curious to know if Kelvin was going to be in my class.
My curiosity was soon quenched when I saw Kelvin walk into the class with Richard. And coincidentally they both seem to be staring into my eyes at the same time.
And when Kelvin smiled at me, I could feel a billion butterflies floating in my stomach. If not that I was sure Kelvin was not my mate, I would have said I was mated to both men by just how much they affected me.
Richard went ahead to introduce Kelvin to the class and from my side eye, I could see my friends talking about how really cute Kelvin was.
“Hi, we meet again,” Kelvin said as he took a vacant seat beside me.
“Hi,” I answered him with a warm smile.
Richard soon began his teaching and while he taught, Kelvin was doing a good job of explaining to me in detail what Richard was teaching. And since I was trying to ignore my mate the same way he was ignoring me, Kelvin was the perfect distraction.
It was incredible how knowledgeable he was on the subject, it was nice listening to him since he was speaking in hush tones, I was paying him more attention than I was paying Richard.
Richard seemed to notice us talking as he turned his eyes toward our direction as if asking us to stop whatever we were doing.
Maybe we should continue this after class, I suggested, after feeling a little unsettled with how cold Richard's gaze was.
But Kelvin was quick to disregard my concerns as he felt it would be impossible for Richard to hear. And to be honest, he was right, because even though I was sitting next to him, I could barely hear him, hence the reason I was paying him all the attention.
Richard continued his lecture and I couldn't help but notice he was looking our way from time to time. I was super nervous and didn't want to get in trouble with him, but Kelvin wouldn't just shut up.
“Miss Mia, can you please stop disrupting the class, or would you want to take over the class,” Richard suddenly asked harshly, with his cold eyes fixated on me.
To say I was shocked would be an understatement, especially since I wasn't saying anything as Kelvin was doing most of the talking.
But his anger seemed to be directed towards me and it was annoying especially since everyone's eyes were now on me.
As an alpha daughter, I have tried over the years to maintain a good reputation as I have always hated being in the spotlight for negative reasons.
Despite being angry at his sudden attack, I did the only thing any good home-trained wolf would do, I apologized.
“I'm sorry sir,” I apologized.
My apology seemed to melt his heart as his gaze on me softened. I could tell that despite still being pissed, he was sorry about his sudden outburst.
“That's okay, but I want to see you in my office immediately after this class,” he said to me, before continuing with the rest of his lecture.
Kelvin apologized for getting me into trouble and I smiled to assure him it was nothing.
I did my best to pay Richard my undivided attention, but it was hard.
I was constantly dazed by his aura, and his charisma, and f**k it, he was super good at what he does. I wondered what being with him would feel like, what his lips would taste like.
I was still lost in my wild thoughts when the class came to an end.
"I'm sorry about earlier,” Kelvin apologized again. Maybe I should come with you to apologize to him since I was practically the one talking," he said.
“It's okay. Trust me you don't want to get into trouble on your first day. I will go and see him, I am sure it's nothing serious,” I assured him before walking out of the classroom.
As I walked towards Richard's office, I couldn't help but imagine what he was going to say.
I noticed I was nervous and a little excited about the fact that I was going to be alone with him. But what if he starts scolding me or threatens to report me to my parents? Well, I was about to find out.
With one deep breath, I opened the door to his office after knocking on it.
The moment I stepped into the office and closed the door, our both eyes locked. It was intense, there were so many unspoken words between us, yet it felt like we both understood what had not been said.
“Mia,” he said in a low growl that tightened the invincible lumps in my stomach.
I could feel my legs getting weak as I struggled to maintain eye contact with him.
Without saying anything, he got up from his chair and started to walk towards me. Every step he took towards me made my heart pound faster, my lips felt super dry, and my palms were super sweating.
I noticed the colors of his eyes changing as he got closer, and just when he was about to take the last step to close the gap between us, there was a knock on the door, and almost immediately, the door opened and Kelvin walked in.
