“Oh, a party you say?” I smile at him and play with the collar of his blazer, he seems extremely happy with that, judging by how his eyes sparkle gold from time to time.
“Yeah,” Hunter says carefully, clearly too afraid to scare me off, “Why don’t we check it out? It’s just what you need to let some steam out…”
“We?” I chuckle, “Oh, Hunter, never in a million years there’s going to be a “we” consisting of the two of us in this world! Just forget about it!”
His face changes to a hurtful one and I feel a slight prick of conscience. But I suppress it quickly and just leave.
“I’ll think about the party,” I say before walking away.
“That was cruel,” Lyra reproaches me as soon as we are alone.
