10 Saige Awareness of Callan’s stare slid shivers down my spine as I sprinkled a bit of feed around the newly enclosed pen for my little sweeties—and those I’d yet to name. Not a good shiver, either. Dark energy, like tendrils of fear and unease, snaked through my mind, slowing my heart to a heavy thud in my chest, stealing my joy in the cute chickens. Covert glances around revealed Flynn had disappeared—and Callan studied me from the stoop where he once more sat.
