Alpha Blain POV
After hanging up the phone with Alpha Drake, I felt relieved at the fact that he would be arriving on my territory ahead of the alpha meeting scheduled for the following week.
Alpha Drake is the leader of the biggest and strongest pack in existence, and having him on my territory will be beneficial in the event of any more attacks.
We also might be able to work together to figure out what the rogues want and why.
It's time to make arrangements for the arrival of Alpha Drake and his men, I think to myself.
“Come to my office, son. I have some matters to discuss with you," I mind-linked Declan.
“Yes, father," Declan replies.
I also mind-linked Isabella to meet me in my office at the same time.
Fifteen minutes later and there was a knock on my office door.
“Come in," I said.
The door opened, and Declan walked in, followed by Isabella. They both took a seat in the chairs across from my desk.
“You called for us, father?" Declan asked.
“Yes, son, I just got off the phone with Alpha Drake from the Crescent Moon Pack," I said before continuing, "He will be visiting our pack tomorrow ahead of the Alpha meeting scheduled for next week." I finished telling them.
“Why? He's such an arrogant asshole!" Isabella asked with irritation clear in her voice.
“That’s enough, Isabella. Watch your tongue,” I commanded before continuing, “After I told Alpha Drake about the most recent rogue attack, he offered to come and assist us in figuring out what the rogues want and how to neutralize them,” I said.
“We really don’t need his help, father. We can handle a couple of rogues.” Isabella said, still clearly irritated. Before I could reply, she continued, “If he shows up barking orders at me or anyone else in this pack, I won’t hold back, father. Be warned,” she said defiantly.
“Isabella, you will be on your best behavior. Any disrespect, and I won’t hesitate to punish you.” I said angrily.
I ran my hands over my face trying to calm down before continuing, “We need help, Isabella. The attacks are getting worse, and you're lucky nothing more serious happened to you and Clair when you were attacked yesterday. You aren’t invincible. If anything happens to either of you, I don’t know what I would do,” I said to them with a defeated sigh.
“I understand, father,” Declan said and paused before continuing. “I don’t like having another Alpha on our territory, but I understand we need to work together and eliminate the threat for the benefit of all the local packs,” Declan said, and I nodded my head.
I looked over at Isabella, who rolled her eyes but was smart enough not to push me. She kept her mouth shut. I know better, though. She’s going to be a handful while the Alpha is visiting. I’ll have to make sure to keep a close eye on her.
“Well, father, I’m at your disposal. Whatever you need me to do in preparation for the Alpha’s visit, just let me know,” Declan said to me.
“Thanks, son. Can you talk with the head maid and have rooms prepared on the second floor of the packhouse for the Alpha, his Gamma, and three warriors?” I asked Declan.
“I’m on it, father, anything else? Declan asked while standing up.
“No, that’s all for now.” I told him with a small smile.
“Isabella, stay behind. I want to have a word with you alone,” I said to Isabella.
“Yes, father.” She said as Declan left the room, shutting the door behind him.
“I don’t want you venturing out into the forest by yourself, Isabella. It’s not safe with the rogue attacks happening more frequently,” I told her with a heavy sigh, knowing that she won’t just accept my order without a fight. That would be too easy.
“Father, I can handle myself, especially against a couple of smelly rogues,” she said with frustration clear in her tone.
“That’s an order, Isabella,” I told her using my Alpha command. She didn’t say anything further, just sat in her chair glaring at me.
“That’s all. You can leave,” I said with finality.
“Fine,” she said to me with frustration. She stood up and left my office, slamming the door behind her.
My alpha command didn’t really work on Isabella or Declan, for that matter. They possessed more powerful Alpha auras than I do because of their heritage. I’ve kept their heritage a secret from them to protect them. Their mother was part of the royal family. She was the lone survivor when the royal kingdom was attacked and wiped out 25 years ago. She was the daughter of the Alpha King, and no one knew she survived the attack but me. When my mate died, that left Isabella and Declan as the last two werewolves in existence that have royal blood running through their veins. No one knows this except for me, and that’s how it will remain. I didn’t need targets being painted on the backs of my children. Other packs would want to get ahold of them because of their heritage, to either destroy them or, in Isabella’s case, mate with her for strong future heirs.
Even though my command didn’t work on Isabella, she usually obeyed. I knew it was because she respected me as her father, but even more, because she respected me as the pack leader. She knew that I only do what I do in the best interest of my family and pack.
Don’t get me wrong, Isabella still tests me sometimes. Unlike Declan, who was easygoing and good at following orders, Isabella has a will of her own, and I literally don’t think she has control over her mouth.
I almost pity the poor soul that ends up being her fated mate. I chuckle inwardly. Don’t be mistaken. I love my daughter dearly and want to see her happy, but she’s a handful, and it’s gonna take a seriously strong, dominant man to tame her beast. The exact kind of man she is constantly ranting on about not wanting as a mate. I knew first-hand how difficult she’d be, given that she’s the spitting image of her mother, my deceased mate.
I cringed inwardly as I thought back to when I met my mate. That first year was a challenge, that’s for sure. Her mother was a dominant female, and we clashed hard until we eventually started figuring out how to work together. I could only hope that Isabella would figure that out with her mate too.

Isabella POV
I left my father's office in a huff. How dare he tell me not to enter the forest alone? Gosh, I’m not a kid, and I can defend myself. My wolf needed to be surrounded by nature. Telling her not to do what her natural instincts want was setting us up for failure. Of course, I know my father has good intentions. He’s only looking out for us. Therefore, I would try my very best to obey him.
As for this stupid Alpha Drake, who’s arriving tomorrow, shoot me now. The last thing I needed around me was another dominant, arrogant asshat thinking he’s above everyone else.
“Watch your tongue.” I thought back to my father’s order in his office. That’s gonna be a hard one to follow. I knew that already. I faceplanted inwardly. I would just avoid that clown at all costs. I’ve heard the rumors, and he’s the last man I wanted to be hanging around.
I mind-linked Clair and asked her if she wanted to meet up and do a little training.
I figured blowing off some steam might make me feel better about this coming Alpha. I hope he’s not planning on staying long.
Clair replied that she was going to meet me on the training field in 30 minutes.
I headed back to my room, pulled out some black leggings and a yellow sports bra from my dresser, and got dressed. I slipped on my white runners, attached my dagger holster to each of my legs, and was ready to get training.
I’m a serious killing machine with my daggers. My father started training me with them when I was ten years old. Since I didn’t get my wolf till I was 16, my father wanted to be sure I could handle my own even without a wolf. He made me carry them whenever I left the house. After I got my wolf, I still liked to train with my daggers. I rarely left the packhouse without at least one strapped somewhere on my body. You just never know when you might need a dagger. What could I say? Most girls liked wearing jewelry. I liked wearing deadly jewelry in the form of daggers.
I left my room and headed for the training fields. It’s only been 15 minutes since I mind-linked Clair, but I figured I could do a little target practice with my daggers while waiting for her.
The training field was empty, most warriors would be done for the day or at the dining hall at this time, so it gave us a little peace and quiet to train.
I set up a target on a large tree trunk and practiced with my daggers. I was so accurate with my throws that there’s only one slice mark right in the middle of the bullseye. Once satisfied with my target practice, I holstered my daggers and tossed the target in the trash. As I was cleaning up, I spotted Clair walking up to me with a big cheery smile on her face. Classic Clair, I thought and rolled my eyes.
“Hey, girl! What happened that you need to blow off steam this late in the day? Clair asked.
She knew me so well. Whenever I was frustrated, I liked to come and beat things up. It just helped. What could I say? Violence was my release since I didn’t find any of the male werewolves around here interesting enough to pursue a s****l release. Therefore, training would have to do.
Don’t get me wrong, I may be a virgin in the meaning, but a girl still has needs, and so far, my pink little energizer bunny (aka Bob, my vibrator) certainly hit the spots when I needed a release. The best part was Bob didn't talk back. I’m not a prude. I just didn’t need any clingy werewolf thinking I’m going to warm his bed while he's out fighting the war.
“You know me all too well,” I said to Clair with a sigh.
We started sparring, and I told Clair about the meeting I had with my father and the most recent rules he set in place for me.
Clair chuckled, knowing just how much I love rules. Not.
I told her about the Alpha arriving tomorrow, and her eyes grew wide. We’ve all heard the rumors about Alpha Drake. He’s supposed to be a massive beast. Something like 6’6 tall and built with nothing but muscle. Rumour has it he’s ruthless and doesn’t tolerate disrespect. He’s supposed to be quite intimidating and scary. Great, I thought to myself. I’m more of a you-earn-my-respect-first-before-I just-give-it-to-you kind of gal. That might be a bit of a problem.
“Oh my goddess, what does he want with our pack?” Clair asked, still wide-eyed.
“I guess after my father told him about the rogue attack on us, he offered to come and help. My father is hopeful they can figure out together what exactly the rogues want,” I told her.
“Well, Bella, I love you like a sister and don’t want to lose you, don’t take this the wrong way, but stay far away from this Alpha if you don’t want to die,” she said with a nervous chuckle while shaking her head from side to side.
“Hey now, I’m offended. What makes you think I can’t play nice with the big bad Alpha?” I asked while batting my big doe eyes, hand on my heart, with a fake shocked look plastered on my face. Clair just chuckled.
“This is gonna be interesting,” she said.
We finished up our training and headed back to the packhouse. I was drenched in sweat from sparring with Clair and desperately needed a shower.
