Amara POV
I wake with a start, the unfamiliar surroundings momentarily disorienting me. Blinking against the soft glow of the room, I realize I must have fallen asleep at some point, though I can't recall when exhaustion overtook me. The events of the day rush back, and I sit up in bed, taking in the ethereal room bathed in light. The bed is luxurious, with silken sheets and plush pillows that seem to cradle me as if knowing my every need. The walls are adorned with tapestries depicting celestial scenes, stars, moons, and galaxies swirling in a cosmic dance. It's a room fit for a goddess, or perhaps, in this case, an Oracle.
I swing my legs over the side of the bed, my feet sinking into the soft pink carpet that feels like walking on clouds. Everything about this place exudes tranquility and magic, reinforcing the reality of my newfound role as Selene's chosen Oracle.
"Good morning, Amara," Rose's voice resonates in my mind, a comforting presence amidst the surreal atmosphere.
"Morning, Rose," I reply silently, my thoughts still adjusting to the magnitude of what lies ahead.
"Ready to tackle the day and get things moving?" She beams.
"Something like that. Hopefully meeting the Fates goes well. I'm a little nervous." I admit.
"You'll be fine. Besides, if they weren't nice then I'm sure Autumn would have mentioned something since she has met them before." She reassures me.
"You're right. I suppose I should get up." I chuckle.
I rise from the bed, feeling strangely refreshed despite the emotional whirlwind of the previous day. There's an anticipation humming in the air, a sense of preparation for the trials that await me. Taking a deep breath, I glance around the room, noticing a small table set near a window that overlooks a panorama of clouds drifting lazily in the morning sky.
Approaching the table, I find a selection of fresh fruits, pancakes, bacon, and a steaming pot of tea. It seems Selene's hospitality knows no bounds, even in her celestial realm. I pour myself a cup of tea, savoring the fragrant aroma that fills the air, and nibble on a piece of bacon, allowing myself a moment to collect my thoughts.
As I finish my breakfast, the door to my room opens silently, revealing Selene standing there with a serene smile. "Good morning, Amara," she greets warmly, her presence bringing me a sense of calm.
"Good morning, Selene," I reply, setting down my teacup. "Thank you for breakfast, it's delicious."
"I'm glad you like it, my child. How did you sleep?" She coos.
"Like a log. I'm honestly not even sure when I fell asleep, I must have been more tired than I thought." I smile sheepishly.
"Indeed, traveling here via the altar really takes it out of you." She giggles. "Are you prepared to meet the Fates today? Alessia is especially excited to meet you."
"Alessia?" I question with a puzzled expression.
"Yes, my child. Alessia is one of the Fates, she represents compassion and kindness. She's eager to get to know you. She had a hand in pairing you and Rose, and she has watched over you with me." She informs me.
"S-she helped pair m-me and Rose? T-that's amazing." I breathe.
"Yes, child. I'll leave you to finish your breakfast and get ready. Wear something comfortable. I expect they'll be very talkative." She chuckles before taking her leave.
After Selene leaves, I finish the last bits of my breakfast, the salty taste of bacon and the sweetness of the fruit soothing my soul. I stand in front of the window, sipping the last of my tea and admiring the view. I contemplate Selene's words about Alessia. The idea that one of the Fates played a role in connecting Rose and me fills me with a profound sense of gratitude and wonder.
"We're in for an interesting meeting, aren't we?" Rose muses, her tone a mixture of curiosity and excitement.
"I think so," I reply softly, turning away from the window to scan the room for something comfortable to wear. Among the opulent garments hanging in the wardrobe, I find a simple yet elegant dress in hues of blue and silver, reminiscent of moonlit waters. It feels appropriate to meet beings of such significance.
Dressing quickly, I take a moment to gather myself, steadying my nerves as I prepare to face the Fates. Leaving my room, I navigate the corridors of Selene's palace with a growing sense of familiarity, marveling at the beauty that surrounds me. I find Selene waiting at the bottom of the stairs, smiling as I approach her.
"I'm ready to meet the Fates and begin my trials." I grin.
Selene nods approvingly. "Very well. The Fates await us."
Together, we make our way through the palace. It's a maze of hallways adorned with stunning paintings and shimmering crystals, each turn revealing new wonders that seem to defy mortal comprehension. We arrive at a set of grand double doors, adorned with intricate carvings depicting the constellations. Selene gestures for me to step forward. With a deep breath, I push them open and step inside, and as the doors swing open soundlessly, I find myself in a chamber bathed in soft, glowing light. Three figures await us at the far end of the room, their presence palpable with an aura of ancient wisdom.
"Amara, meet the Fates," Selene introduces them, her voice resonating with reverence. "Idalia, Callisto, and Alessia."
Idalia steps forward first, her gaze penetrating yet kind. She is dressed in flowing robes that seem to shimmer with the colors of twilight. She has beautiful fiery red hair that seems to move on its own and her eyes are a sea of green. "Welcome, Amara," she says in a voice that carries echoes of distant stars. "We have awaited your coming."
Callisto, beside her, nods solemnly. Her presence is regal, adorned with a crown of interwoven vines and starlight. "You stand at the threshold of your destiny, child. The trials ahead will test your spirit and shape your path."
Callisto's black hair only amplifies the magenta of her eyes, and peering into them, it's like she is looking into my soul.
"And I am Alessia," the third Fate speaks, her voice softer than the others yet no less profound. She wears a cloak adorned with patterns resembling the phases of the moon. Her silver hair flows like water, cascading down her back. What truly got me was her eyes, a pure white like snow. "We will guide you through the trials, Amara, and witness the strength of your heart. It's wonderful to finally meet you in person, watching over you has been a pleasure and Selene speaks of you with great fondness."
I feel a surge of reverence and awe in their presence, realizing that these beings hold the threads of fate itself. They are the weavers of destinies, the guardians of balance in the universe.
"Thank you, Fates," I say sincerely, bowing my head slightly. "I am honored to meet you."
"We are honored as well," Idalia replies, her eyes holding mine with a knowing gaze. "We understand that you have questions," Idalia continues, her tone gentle yet firm. "But before we proceed, we must attune ourselves to your essence. Please, stand in the center of the room."
I nod, willing to trust in their guidance. Closing my eyes, I feel a gentle sensation wash over me, as if invisible threads are weaving through my soul, unraveling layers of doubt and uncertainty. It's both unsettling and comforting, this intimate scrutiny by beings who see beyond the veil of mortal existence. As the attunement continues, I become acutely aware of memories and emotions surfacing within me, moments of joy, sadness, fear, and hope intertwining like threads in a tapestry. Through it all, Rose's presence in my mind provides a grounding force.
After what feels like both an eternity and a fleeting moment, the attunement draws to a close. The Fates step back, their expressions unreadable yet somehow reassuring.
"You carry the light of the Moon within you, Amara," Callisto says, her voice echoing in the chamber. "You are ready to face the trials that await."
I nod, a sense of purpose settling within me. "I am ready," I reply with conviction, meeting the gaze of each Fate in turn.
"Then let us begin," Idalia declares, her eyes shining with ancient wisdom. "The first trial will confront your inner fears and doubts. It will require courage and conviction to overcome. You must face the shadows within yourself, understand them, and emerge stronger."
As she speaks, the chamber around us seems to shift, taking on ethereal shapes and forms that mirror the depths of my own mind. Shadows dance at the edges of my vision, whispering secrets and fears long buried.
"You have the strength to face this, Amara," Alessia reassures me, her voice a soothing balm amidst the swirling energies of the chamber. "We are here to guide you, but this journey is yours to walk."
Drawing a deep breath, I step forward into the swirling mists of the first trial, determined to confront my innermost fears and emerge stronger than before.
"You are not alone, Amara," Rose whispers through our link, offering her comfort.
