CHAPTER FIVE

1044 Words
"You seem distracted by the vehicle." Samantha broke the silence and asked our of the curiosity that bugged her mind. Xander was startled by her voice and turned swiftly to lay eyes on Samantha. "For some reason I am drawn to that vehicle. I cannot place an idea to it, I would like to say it looks familiar." "So I was right after all huh?" She said more to herself than Xander. "I knew you were a mechanic, maybe for the military." "Maybe or maybe not." He responded with a cheeky smile that forced a laugh out of Samantha. "Well I just know that when you regain your memory, you will be able to repay me by helping me fix my car." She jokingly revealed. As they both laughed it created a sense of comfort between the two of them. While they continued moving in silence, Samantha observed Xander from her peripheral vision and noticed he was still staring at the vehicle, even as they had walked past it. Whatever he felt inside, it must be intense that he could not get his eyes off the vehicle. "Do you ever believe that your memory will return one day?" She asked again. "I know I will." Even though he was not sure, Xander was highly optimistic. Although Samantha barely knew this man, she still wished above everything that he regained his past memory. Suddenly Samantha felt her phone ringing and it broke the moment that they were beginning to share. "Hello?" "Samantha!" It was none other than Amy. "Oh, hey dear." "Where are you, Samantha?" Amy enquired, her voice sounding too demanding for Samantha not to gather her suspicion. "Your dad is going crazy over here." "I am in safe hands, Amy. I don't see any reason anyone should be overreacting." Samantha replied, getting exhausted of her family's antics. "Alright, you know what I lied." Amy admitted. "I am actually the one worried about you and not your father.". Samantha chuckled recalling that this was Rachel's way. She was the best friend that anyone could think of having. She is respecting and highly kind. However, she did not want to reveal the fact that she was with Xander. "I am fine, Amy." Samantha assured."Did you tell my dad anything because he had arrived at the villa yesterday to insult me." She asked further, still not forgetful of the fact that she had mentioned her father. Amy gasped. "No, Sam, I am just worried. He did ask me about your whereabouts but I told him nothing.” Samantha pressed her lips into a thin line. “How then did he know I was here?” “I have no idea. He only asked me questions. What happened when he arrived?” "What were his exact words?" Samantha asked, and then noticed a silence at the background. "He just wants you to come back home that is all. He doesn't want you wandering around,” Amy responded, after much silence. "Are you sure you did not tell him anything?" Samantha asked again, to be certain. "I did not tell him anything, Sam." Amy assured, but there was a break in her voice and Samantha had noticed it. "Tell me the truth. What in the world is going on. The way you are asking this question feels like you are trying to probe me." "Samantha, quit over reacting I am just trying to make sure that you are safe." Amy laughed it off. "But for real though, are you with anyone? What did your father do? He said he saw you with a stranger.” Samantha finally looked up at Xander, who still looked at the convoy. "I am good. You don't have to worry any more. I'll tell you all about it when we meet in person.” "Very then. We need to talk in person, Sam. Whenever you are free, I will text you the address." Amy indicated. "Very well then, I will meet you once I am settled back home." Samantha responded. “See you soon. Miss you and stay safe,” Amy said, and the call went off. Xander asked,. "Are you okay." "Yeah, I am fine. Just a friend trying to check up on me." Samantha responded with a forced smile. Her mind was filled with several suspicion and doubts about Rachel. What was Amy trying to discuss with the both of them that appeared so important and why was she trying to play mind games? Meanwhile, on Amy's end, she hung up the phone and turned to Richard, who had been standing beside her for a long time. "She has agreed to it," Amy informed him with a smirk , which spread across her face. Richard reached out to his pocket and brought out a couple of mint notes and handed it over to Rachel, but she stopped him. "I already told you, Richard. I don't need your money,” Amy explained. "So what you are trying to tell me is that you are doing this out of the goodness of your heart?" Richard asked with a raised eyebrow. "You know I am doing this for you, Richard. I am trying to make you happy," She said with a smile and walked closer to him, holding his hands and staring at him with adoration. "I want you to remember something, Amy. You are nothing but a distraction and a short lived pleasure." Richard responded, letting go of his hands, while Amy's mood turned sour. "So that is all I am to you huh?" She asked, slowly getting angry. "I am just your pet." "I did not say you are pet. I am trying to let you know that you can be replaced easily, so don't forget your place." He responded with a smile. "That is strange because I know Samantha easily flaunts herself with other men.” "What are you talking about?" He asked in rage. "Have you considered wondering the relationship that exist between Samantha and that stranger?" "Don't you speak to my wife like that." Richard warned and then walked closer to Amy. "If what you claim turns out to be true, I am going to exact my revenge and even cut off her family from my business dealings.”
