Going South

Tau's POV

The full week went fast at Linzi's. Not a whole lot of time to pick Linzi's head. We were packing up to head to the airport where Elder Braun and Pinky would be waiting to join us on the private jet they had purchased.

We would fly to Southern wolf territory and then drive four hours to the Castle. From there I told her I would spend three days setting up the dragon boundary and be back on the night of the third evening to stand guard for her introduction ball.

I did not like leaving her those three days but Hawk and I agreed the dragon boundary was most important. Athens said he would be with Jewel when her brother was not. I appreciated that very much. I had no trust for the detail that Mortou and Linzi sent. Most could battle a southern wolf but only a select couple stood a chance against a dragon.

At the airport, I met Elder Braun and his mate Pinky. She eyed me closely. She knew exactly what I was. Elder Braun, I knew still had no idea what I was.

"Do I need to worry?" Pinky stepped close to me to whisper in my ear.

I just shook my head no. "You are family unless you plan to betray them all?" I glanced up letting Griff flash his eyes at her.

"No, they are family. I have no alliance to Tvso." Her whisper sounded like a hiss of disgust as she said his name.

"Then we are good." I threw the last remaining bags on the trolley to take to the plane. "How would you fair against the dragons?" I watched her closely.

"Warrior class I am passible. Above that I am worthless." She shrugged. "What about them?" She threw her head in the direction of the new group with us.

"On the fence, watch them closely," I grunted. Leon and Max were the two I watched the most. I didn't trust them. They had a grudge, I was glad Athens, Elder Braun, and Pinky were coming.

Getting off the plane, I could feel the air change. It was tropical. The country, Costa Rica. It was a central point between Mexico to the north and Latin America to the south. Lots of beaches, tropical heat, and rain. Unloading the plane, I noticed Pinky staying close to Jewel as was the other girls. Jakarta followed Hawk around like a lost pup.

Grabbing my bag, I swung it on my shoulder. Walking to the girls, Athens stood next to them. "I am taking off to start the wards." I looked at him.

He nodded, "girls the plan is in effect." Athens whispered yelled. "Your lady went back to grab something off the plane." Athens shoved me in that direction while the girls circled Hawk and Jakarta.

I smirked at the plan. Keep Hawk busy enough I could say goodbye to Jewel alone. I walked back up the stairs to the plane, to see Jewel looking for her earphones. She smiled triumphantly as she found them stuck in the chair. Her eyes were surprised when she saw me. "I was coming back." Her words held a giggle.

"I am heading out now." I motioned to the pack on my back.

"You're leaving now? I thought once we got to the castle." She seemed surprised as hurt flashed in her brown eyes.

"The sooner I leave the sooner I come back." I shrugged, getting ready to turn to go.

"Wait," She whispered, I felt her rush to hug me. She had latched onto my side, plopping against me with urgency. I side hugged her, kissing the top of her head.

"I will be back before you know it." I chuckled letting her go. She leaned up kissing my cheek.

"That is for good luck." She said, tears in her eyes as she went to rush past me. I grabbed her wrist quickly. Dropping my pack, I pulled her back to my chest. I slammed my lips on hers, releasing the caged lion in me out. I wanted to remind her, how I felt and that I would be back. I was not going to break my promise. Her passion met mine, as she wrapped her hands around my neck pulling me closer to her. I wrapped my arms around her as she moved backward thumping against the wall of the plane. Jewel's lips had me seeing fireworks and stars behind my eyes. Tingles and shocks flowed between us. We broke for air, as she looked up in wonder and desire at me. "What was that for?" Her words are breathless.

"Just reminding you I will be back," I smirked at her. Kissing her forehead, grabbed my pack and bounced out of the plane with the biggest smug smile of my life.

"You heading out?" I heard Hawk ask behind me as I headed past the SUVs.

"Yes leaving now. Should be three days tops. I will push for less." I nodded to him.

"Sounds good." He grunted. I saw his nose flare. I knew he could smell his sister on me. But he said not a word.

"See you in a few," I nodded just as Jakarta, found him wrapping her arms around his waist as she buried her face in his chest.

Just past the cars, Athens gave me a high-five, "now that is how you say goodbye to your lady," He grinned showing off his fangs. I took off at a jog past the tarmac and into the trees. I had wards to start. Behind me, I heard Athens yell, "Come on new beefcakes let's get your cute asses in these vehicles!"

I chuckled again. I was told before Athens met his mate he was quite the flirtatious monster. I could believe it. Amber and Maya use to laugh about all the predicaments that both Beta Hawk and Joe found themselves in before Johnny came into the picture. Shaman too mentioned Athens's lack of worry when he threw his zingers out. I was just happy he was on my side. He had mentioned he was rooting for me with Jewel too. I sure as hell hoped after this was said and done Jewel would be mine. She sure did consume my mind and she was taking up more space daily in my heart. It would be crushing if it wasn't. I wanted Jewel more than I wanted to finish my second task. For a griffin that was saying A LOT.
