Jewel's POV (Sneak peek start.) A blue pulse of light snapped through the entire ranch. Tau and my brother leaped up, both getting stuck in the doorway they tried to exit from. It made me giggle. Both snapped their eyes to me before my brother stepped back and pushed Tau through the door roughly. "Be nice!" I yelled after my brother. Maybe. Grunt my brother in my head. The dragon alarm went off. We will be back in a bit before your birthday starts. With that, both boys left in a hurry. Mortou came into my room and plopped down. "Should we go to the safe room?" There was no hint of worry in his voice. "No," I smirked. "But I think I should get game in while we wait for them to come back." I tossed his controller to him. "Oh, so you want to win on your birthday?" He huffed, while he got ready to play. He didn't care if he won or lost these days. He just grinned cause our time to play was getting short and he knew it. Just like I did. He was going to remain here with my mom, dad, and little sis. I was going to miss him. He was bringing in some of his first-generation help. That was why we planned to go to his mate's place. ************* "What the f**k was that?" I heard my brother yell in the hallway. Mortou and I stepped out to see both Tau and my brother Hawk set up ready to fight. "What is going on?" I groaned stepping closer to these two. They were constantly bickering and yelling at each other since Tau came here. I noticed the black eye on my brother and a cut across Tau's beautiful cheek. s**t, I need to stop that. He is my guard. I need to keep the focus on the crown I will take. "Dragons tried to break the safety barrier." Tau turned his head to let me see those sea-green beauties. It was when he turned I noticed the charred skin on the other side of his face. "Oh. My. God." I hissed getting to Tau quickly to inspect his burn. It was mending but it made me mad. I looked at my brother, smacking him hard in the chest. "He has a f*****g burn!" I growled. "You were going to beat him up more!" I shouted, shoving hard against the hallway wall. "It's my f*****g birthday for s**t's sake!" I smacked him again. I knew Akasa was surfacing, I was mad. "Boys, separate rooms now." Mortou snapped. His growl made everyone look at him. "Lory is coming to heal Tau." Mortou grabbed my brother's shirt collar dragging him off the wall. To chuck him in his room. Tau went out to the back porch. Lory stood there with Mike as she healed his burn. "What was the commotion?" My mom asked behind me as I watched Lory do her thing. "They were fighting again." I groaned, as I plopped on the couch and did one of those dramatic sighs. "Those two will for a while." She sat down next to me as she wrapped an arm around my shoulders to pull me in for a big hug. "Why won't they stop," I pinched the bridge of my nose like I had seen dad do many times. "So Tvso tried to get in again?" Think of my dad and he shows up. The growl in his voice is what made me look. "I guess so, they came back to fight yet again." I stood throwing my hands up. "They need to get a grip and be on both sides." I hissed as I started pacing. "It's my birthday!" I shouted throwing my hands up while I paced back and forth. "I will speak to them kiddo," My dad came up kissing the top of my head he turned and headed to my brother Hawk's room. Tau came in from outside heading to my dad's old room. He nodded at my mother and me. I couldn't stop myself from letting my eyes ogle him. I couldn't stop myself if I tried. He was like a magnet for my eyes. "I will get ready for the party," Tau nodded to my mother. His eyes landed on me and I shivered. His body didn't have to touch me for my body to respond. It was insane! "Jewel, we need to get dressed, lots of high-ranking Alpha's will be at this party tonight." She smiled, grabbing my hand to take me to her room to get dressed and primed for my birthday party later that evening. ************* Tiffany, Lory, and their mates Logan and Mike would be part of my group down south. Tiffany was hair and makeup. While Logan and Mike ran detail around us. Lory was to help heal should things go sideways fast. Which was possible given we were headed into Southern Wolf territory again. The last time was crazy, I was kidnapped, marriages spoke about arrangements plus the few that tried to kill me because they knew their kids could not have the throne without me going. My mother in her great wisdom invited several family heads to this party. So, she could judge them herself and see what the playing field may be like. I was ready. I would do a birthday introduction by myself. Instead of the violet dress, I have opted for a black one with violet accents. It is open-necked to show I am allowing suitors. I will not allow arrangements of any kind. As the doors open I hear, "her Royal highness Isabella Jewel Munoz!" Shouted one of the pack warriors from Alpha Gene's pack. He is in attendance as is the old crew. My brother Hawk leans forward to take my arm as we descend the staircase to the people below. Tau is at the bottom of the stairs, my eyes land on him always first. Peeling my eyes away, I glance around the room to smile at everyone. "Thank you all for coming to my 18th birthday!" I grin. I am holding back tears. So many faces I have known over the years. Some new, some old. I was mad at myself for wanting even a tiny amount for Tvso to be here. It was stupid but there it was. All those years of him talking telling me what I wanted to hear. After a while, you will forget about that prick. My brother announced rudely in my head. Well aware. Still gonna take time jerk. Growled back at him. Yeah, I know, at least I gave him a good smack today. My brother smirked down at me. He was 20 now, and just shy of 7 feet. his arms are corded like Mortou's bear. His wolf is even bigger than my father's. He does not want the royal title. The fact is, he formally declined it. Opting for the beta position. Everyone was surprised but the family.
