“This place is deserted,” Steven said, cupping his hands to his face as he peered through the dusty windows of the abandoned service station. A quick glance at the prices posted on the sign proved it had been a long time since customers bought gasoline from these pumps. As Carlos walked around the side of the building, Steven called out nervously, “Carl? Where you going?” “I’m right here.” Carlos stuck his head back around the corner and grinned at Steven. “Just checking the bathrooms.” “They’re probably locked.” Shoving his hands deep into his pockets, Steven shivered in the cool night air and sighed.
