Skylar’s P.O.V
Sitting in the coffee shop with Logan, I couldn’t concentrate. I couldn’t think straight, everything he did and said to me in stairwell playing in my mind at full force. He was calm and collective, acting as nothing has happened, talking away like him and I was old friends. I do not know how he does it.
“Have you studied English or writing in any way?” He asked.
“Yes, I studied English Lit and writing back home in Scotland,” I said.
“And what is it you write?” He asked.
Did I not already tell him this? I can’t even remember.
“Anything from Romance to Chick lit to poems, and song lyrics depends on how my head is working really,” I answered.
“Yes, you still need to show me that. Are you good with computers? Good with correction, grammar, punctuation etc.…” He asked.
“Yes, I am good with all that.” I smiled.
Logan continued asking me questions, asking me about my writing, my experience etc.…and I answered all of them with the truth. It was like an interview, a very casual one. He told me the salary, hours, what I need to do, etc., the pay was more than double that I would get if I took the first job at the small publishing house.
“Sounds good, sound like you know what you are doing. You are hired if you want the job anyway?” He asked.
“I would love the job,” I said, smiling widely at him. “Thank You,” I added.
“Looking forward to it should be fun.” He said with a smirk, “Any way we can move on from the boring stuff. You can start in a couple of weeks, let you get settled first.” He added.
I nodded. It sounded good, would give me time to get myself organised and settled. I was excited and nervous about starting this new job, hoping whatever is going on between him and I does not affect it though. Logan leant back on his seat, looking at me, biting on his lower lip. The intensity of it was making me a little nervous. I couldn’t tell what he was thinking. I jump when I feel his hand land on my thigh, Logan letting out a soft chuckle.
“I am curious, Skylar? See what happened in the stairwell? See the things I said to you?” He asked. I nodded, “Did that scare you? Get to you? Intrigue you? Tell me?” He added.
Does he want to talk about all of this here, in a coffee shop, in public?
“Do we need to talk about this here? What if people hear?” I said, looking around.
“No one is listening, and if they are, they have no right. Answer me, Skylar, I need to know.” He said.
I looked around, making sure no one was looking or was close enough to hear us talk.
“No, it never scared me. I am not going to lie; it intrigues me.” I said.
“What part?” He questioned.
Is he going to make me say it? I looked at him, eyes wide he never changed the look in his face, he was waiting for me to answer his question.
“You know what part Logan, I am not gonna say it,” I said.
“You mean the part about getting spanked?” He smirked.
Oh My God, did he have to say it out loud? I swear the people behind him heard us cause they were looking at me now. Logan never seemed bothered in the slightest, never seemed to be caring if anyone heard us.
“Yes, now can we please change the subject?” I said quickly, not needing my face to get any warmer.
“For now, yes, we will continue later when we are alone at my place.” He said.
His place? I never said I was going back to his place. I don’t think that would be such a good idea, but yet I found myself nodding in agreement with him. I think I agreed to it to make him stop talking about it right now. I grabbed my coffee, drinking it, distracting myself from him looking at me, from his fingers dancing up and down my thighs. I found myself wanting to finish my coffee quickly.
“I should get back, make sure the movers are getting on OK, start organising my place, lots of work to do. I need to go to the shops too for shopping.” I said.
It was all true, I had all day to do it, but I think I made it out I had to get it all done right now to try to get away from him for a little while. Logan finished off his coffee, paying the bill.
“Come on then. I will come with you. I don’t wanna leave you alone in your place with a group of strange men.” He said.
“I am sure you have better things to do. They are workmen whose company is well known; I am sure I am safe with them.” I laughed, shaking my head at him.
“You don’t know that. I am not leaving you alone with them, as simple as that.” He said more sternly.
“OK,” I said, shaking my head, not wanting to find another reason for us to start fighting again.
Logan placed his hand on the small of my back, leading me out of the coffee shop, heading back home. The guys were still busy taking my things upstairs. I said hello, smiling at them as we headed inside. Logan and I made our way to my apartment, a lot of my thighs already in, they couldn’t have much more to go.
“Sorry for everything lying about darling wasn’t sure where you wanted them.” One of the guys said, an older guy.
“Sorry, maybe I should have said before I left.” I laughed.
“It is fine; we are nearly finished anyway so you can tell us where you want the thighs, safe you having to move them yourself.” He said, smiling.
“Thank You, appreciate that,” I replied.
As I stood to have a conversation with the nice guy, Logan never left my side, his arm coming firmly around my waist and I could see him out the corner of my eyes watching the guy closely. The guy headed out, and I turned too, Logan.
“What is the matter with you? Why are you tense?” I asked.
“Nothing I am fine.” He said no emotion to his voice.
He seemed jealous, why I do not get we were only having a general conversation. I shook my head at him, walking away and started organising the things that I could move myself, trying to give the guys more room to move around my apartment. I ignored him as I did this, I couldn’t have him distracting me right now, too much to do. He asked if he could help and I told him he could, moving some of the things into the bedroom. He did as I asked, well until the guys came back, Logan soon appeared back at my side again. I decided to ignore it this time, not say a thing about it because he will only deny it.
I put my attention on the workmen, telling them where things were to go. It never took them long to get everything where I wanted it.
“Thank you, appreciate all the help,” I said as I walk them to the door.
“No, bother. Welcome to N.Y.C., I hope you feel like home.” One said.
I said goodbye to them, closing the door behind them, leaving Logan and me completely alone again in my apartment. I turned around, walking into his hard chest. I never even knew he was behind me. I never had a chance to say anything before he pulled me into him, kissing me. The kiss was still passionate, not as rough as earlier, still feels good though. The kiss only lasted a moment before he pulled away, smiling at me.
“Come on, let’s make this place a home for you.” He smiled.
“Yes, let’s,” I said excitedly.
I know it was going to be hard work to get the place the way I wanted it, knew it would be worth it in the end.
