Chapter 6 Excerpt from Barrow’s Journal – My Year with Dragons Drakelings are able to fly early on during adolescence. Their wingspan grows as their dragon bodies do, but occasionally there are minor bumps and bruises while learning to fly. The body of a dragon is immensely heavy, so the wings must be large and strong in order to lift the body upon the wind. I thought at first that dragons were like birds, but in truth, they are far more like bats, with bone and sinew forming their wings. Mikhail recently told me that a group of dragons together is called a “wing of dragons.” I rather like that, thinking of their wings and the way their scales glimmer as they fly in the sun.
