Wanting A Divorce- King Draco's POV
The door to our room was slammed by an angry queen.
“I’ve done nothing, but stay by your side like a queen and a wife should.” Queen Caroline said, waving my divorce letter in the air. “I’ve bore you twelve children, starting at the beginning of our marriage. I even got compliments from your parents while they were alive and well. However, for the past six years, I haven’t understood why you would ask me fovorcer a divorce on my 30th birthday.”
I ignored her, slipping out of my clothes from the evening event we had for Caroline’s birthday. Normally, I would stay until the end of the event, but I was not feeling it. Caroline, whom I was married to, failed me as a wife. I handed my clothes to the servant and he walked out of the room with them to watch.
“What do you expect me to say?” I asked her. “You knew this was going to happen when we stopped having intercourse.”
“And whose fault is that?!”
I turned around to face her. Her personal servant was with her, helping her remove her elegant attire that she wore for her celebration.
“Thank you, Jocelyn.” She told her servant. “I’ll take it from here. Close the door on your way out.”
Bowing to her Queen, Jocelyn glanced my way before she left the room, closing the door as she was told. Caroline picked up the bottom of her dress and walked over to me.
“Please talk to me.” She begged. “I need to know what I can do to fix it. I want us to die old together.”
“You know we can’t do that.” I told her, walking past her. “You’re not a Dragon like I am. You don’t have dragon blood in your veins like I do. Your lifespan is shorter than mines. Pretty soon, you could die any day.”
“Don’t act like you are immortal, Draco! You can get killed like us mortals can.”
I made it to the bed and got under the blanket. Caroline came over to my side and stood by me.
“I’m not divorcing you until you give me a good reason why you want this divorce.” She said to me.
“You will side that paper.” I told her. “I don’t have to give you a reason of why I want a divorce.”
I’m the King. There should be nothing that would prevent me from divorcing this woman.
“Fine, then we can take it to the Courts tomorrow.” She said.
I turned over on my other side, ignoring her. Then, I closed my eyes, drifting off to a deep sleep.

The Next Day:
“Are you kidding?” I asked the Royal Judge, Lord Arlington. “There’s no way of a divorce in my favor?”
Lord Arlington looked up at me from signing a paper. His blonde eyebrows raised up at me in question.
“You know I can’t do that without reason, King Draco.” He told me. “Why are you looking for a divorce, anyways? Caroline is a very amazing woman. She’s mature for her age and she has helped a lot around the Kaenid Kingdom. She helped our country out and you’re just going to up and leave her?”
I huffed, folding my arms over my chest. That was a reason why I hated the courts. You must have a reason for every thing. Lord Arlington got up from his desk and walked around to me. He placed his hand on my shoulder and chuckled.
“Why don’t you go home and work it out with your wife?” He asked me.
Irritated, I snatched away from him, then turned and walked out the courtroom. There was nothing else to say to him at that moment. Storming out of the room, I walked down the hall, thinking of what Lord Arlington said to me. Just his words alone, angered me and I needed to blow off steam.
“There you are, my dear friend.” I heard a familiar voice from behind me.
I stopped in my tracks and smiled as soon as my friend, Edward Porcili stopped on my right side.
“I thought you hated the courts?” He asked me.
I turned my head in his direction and sighed.
“Can we talk?” I asked him.
“Over a couple bottles of strong Whiskey.”
I chuckled and nodded my head. That was what I needed as well. A good, strong drink to take my mind off Caroline and the divorce s**t. I patted my friend on the shoulder and walked ahead.
“Let’s grab something to eat as well.” I told him. “I’m starving.”
“Dragons are always hungry.”
I laughed at his remark as we walked out the Kaenid Castle.
**
Edward shoved a big piece of venison in his mouth before he turned his attention back to me.
“So, what are you going to do?” He asked me with a mouth full of meat. “A divorce is crossed off until you can find that reason.”
I swallowed the meat that was in my mouth before taking a long gulp of the Whiskey, accepting the throat burning sensation for the fifth time that day.
“I don’t know. There’s nothing to really do.”
Edward chuckled, grabbing another piece of meat from his plate. That time, he dragged the meat through the thick, brown gravy that was still there.
“Well, I have a suggestion.” He said before stuffing another piece of meat into his mouth. “However, I’m unsure of how you’ll take it.”
“Well, I’m willing to listen to your ‘suggestion’.”
He glanced at me and smiled.
“Why don’t you take a mistress?” He asked.
I raised an eyebrow at him. Not once have I ever taken one due to me being already in a marriage.
“I can’t do that.” I said, shaking my head.
“Every King had one.” Edward said. “Your father is included in the matter.”
“My father didn’t have a mistress.”
Edward chuckled at my comment.
“He did. You were just too blind to see it.”
I stared at him, trying to think when did I ever see my father with another woman.
“Your mother’s servant, Isma.” Edward confirmed. “She was your father’s mistress.”
I sat back in the chair and stared at Edward with a open mouth. He burst into a laughter as soon as he saw my reaction. Not once, did I ever think my father would have one.
“Isn’t it illegal?” I asked him.
“You’re the King; it’s your choice.” Edward said. “Your wife can’t do anything about it.”
As I continued eating, I thought of a ‘what if’ scenario. If I took a mistress, then what? What would we be able to do?
“You have so many thoughts racing in your head.” Edward said. “Just spit it out?”
“I don’t want just any mistress.” I told him. “I want someone…. Perfect.”
“Someone better than Caroline, right? There’s plenty of women here in the Courts.”
I glanced around at the women in the restaurant. They were pretty and that was that. Caroline, however, she was stunning. None of those women in my Kingdom matched up to that.
“No, I want someone outside of the Courts.”
Edward stopped eating for a second and looked up at me.
“You want to travel for your mistress?” He asked me.
I nodded and he did a quick chuckle.
“When are you able to make time for that? Aren’t you a busy man?”
“I am, but I can cancel my plans for the rest of the days. I can’t stand being here, anyways. Having to sleep in the same bed as this woman is torturous.”
“Okay, next question for you. Where are you looking to go?”
“Anywhere?”
Edward shook his head at me.
“Anywhere could take up all the days of your time off. You need to pick a place. You also need to send letters off to let them know that you are coming. So pick your places and write letters to them. Limit to three places, at least.”
I nodded and we gotten silent as we finished our food, savoring the rich, thick taste that danced in our mouths. Right after this, I was going to write to the three places. One of them was owned by a good friend of mines: Nigel. I needed to see him at his home, in Gerinburg.
