Sienna's POV
"We are here" Asher says, trying to wake me up.
I open my eyes and I see we are in middle of deep deep woods. I look at Asher and he tilts his head. I nod as I hop out of the car. I don't see anyone and I walk to Asher.
He holds my hand and we start moving forward. As we walk I understand that cars or any other vehicles cannot drive through here. Not enough space with all these thick trees and bushes.
"Do you need anything?" Asher asks me.
I shake my head as I keep walking.
"Water or anything to eat?" He asks me again.
"Asher, stop. I am just fine. I just want to know what pulled two witches and a Gamma into the fire" I say to which he just holds my hand tighter.
"You cannot pretend like everything is okay. I will know when it is not" Asher says.
I look at him and sigh. Of course who am I kidding? Asher will know everything even without me saying. We grew up together and we have always been together as best friends. He knows me inside out.
"I am still processing last night" he says again.
I nod.
"Can we.. not talk about it? It's still hard" I whisper.
Asher pulls me closer to him and side hugs me. He smells like Ocean to me. I feel that is his natural scent. And that scent calmed me many times.
A few minutes of walk later, I see houses. Nice. Avery was my friend, but I never really came here. She never really invited me.
"Alpha Asher Nelson!" I hear a voice.
She smiles wide as she looks at Asher and Asher opens his arms. She runs and hugs him. Her smile is really really wide. Guess she just likes Asher a lot.
She might be around five feet eight inches tall. Salt and pepper hair. Fair complexion. And her blue eyes really stand out.
"Nice to see you again, Julia. You look stunning!" He says making her chuckle.
Julia then looks at me and narrows her eyes.
"She is Sienna. My best friend and the Gamma's Daughter of my pack" Asher introduces me and I smile at her.
"Hello sweetie, you look lovely. I have heard about you when Asher mentioned twice. Nice to finally have a face to the name" Julia smiles as she pulls in for a hug.
I smile and hug her back and we start walking forward again.
"I see the witches here likes you" I whisper and he smiles at those words.
"Who wouldn't?" He winks at me making me roll my eyes.
The confidence he displays around me, I really hope he would be the same around other girls. The thought reminds me of Avery again. I wonder if Asher understood that my heart is aching, he pulls me closer again. Julia looks between us and she smiles walking forward again.
We all walk into a house that is a little larger than other houses here.
"This is Agnes's house" Asher whispers and I nod.
"Alpha Asher! Welcome back" A man greets us with a wide smile.
Asher greets him back while I sit there and smile politely waiting for Asher to drop the news.
"Do you need some water?" Another woman who looks a lot like Agnes smiles as she walks towards us.
Asher stands and greets her and I stand too. Of course with a polite smile on my face. I don't want to come off as the girl who is rude and offends everyone.
"Where is Agnes?" She asks again.
The man and the woman who looks like Agnes sits along with us. I take it as Agnes's brother and her mother. Judging the age and everything, I highly think so.
"I am really sorry to break this news to you people. But something went wrong. Agnes and Avery lost their lives" Asher says.
Shock is written across their faces and I feel sad. I can relate to them too. They are not crying and I know they are still processing the fact of the loss of their family member. I can understand that very well.
Julia's eyes fall on me and her eyes soften again. I notice that I am still in the black dress.
"Yeah. I lost my father too" I say and they all look at me with soft eyes.
"Should have seen this coming when Agnes chose dark magic over traditional witchcraft" The one who I believe to be Agnes's brother says.
Excuse me what?
"Care to elaborate?" Asher raises his eyebrow getting into his typical Alpha mode.
Now all the eyes are on Agnes's brother. He looks around and he gulps.
"She asked me not to tell anyone. But now that she is not here, I guess I can break my promise" he whispers.
Everyone sits on the couch and chairs again with all the attention on him.
"Now tell us, Oscar. What is it?" Asher again.
So his name is Oscar. Nice.
"I caught her practicing dark magic one day. She had burning Sage on one side and wild pea flowers on other side of the table. They were emitting black smoke. I knew it was dark magic. I stopped her" he says and looks at all of us again.
"But she said it was to bring back her dead witch friend, Mallory. She told me she would stop with this once she brought Mallory back" Oscar says.
Something is wrong in this equation.
"And you are okay with that?" I ask him.
He looks at me and then at Asher. When Asher nods, Oscar answers to me.
"Mallory was also my fiancé" he says.
Now this makes a lot of sense.
"Moon Goddess must be angry. A Witch from the Elder family who is practicing dark magic, is also the one who carried forward your ritual. I am so sorry on behalf of my daughter, Alpha Asher Nelson" Agnes's mother apologises through tears in her eyes.
"It's alright. We can take care of our pack lands for the next five years. But I am sorry for your loss. Not just Agnes, Avery also lost her life trying to help Agnes with the spell. They both were holding my Gamma David's hands. And that was how we lost him too" Asher says.
A pang of pain hits me again. Asher holds my hand and places it on his lap. I smile a little and I also see witches noticing what Asher did. But he doesn't seem like he cares at this point.
"Julia, do you mind showing me the way to Avery's home?" Asher asks again.
"I am afraid not, sweetie. She doesn't have a family. She was an abandoned child. Clara took her in. You were the only friend that Avery made so we couldn't deny when she wanted to meet you" The one whose name now I know as Clara says. Agnes's mother.
I see Asher who went still. Avery doesn't have anyone. She always liked me as her best friend. She loved Asher. She planned on asking him out on a date. She lost her life before that happened.
I want to cry but somehow, no tears roll down my cheeks. Did I already lose my tear quota in this life?
"I am so sorry again" I hear Asher saying.
"If any, we should be the one apologizing you Alpha Asher. You lost your Gamma and the ritual was a fail because of my daughter's black magic. Please forgive me and the coven" she says with her soft eyes.
Asher and I stay in Agnes's house for a while and start walking back to the car again. No one says a word. We just walk back.
There is nothing like a hidden agenda or some sort. Whatever happened was a result of Agnes walking down the wrong lane. Avery and my father were the collateral damage.
With heavy hearts, Asher and I drive back to our pack. The Crimson Moon Pack is one of the largest one across the globe.
I take another shower in Asher's home. Yolanda lets me know that my mother is sleeping and I feel glad. She needs sleep. She needs peace. She needs all the time in the world to move on. And I would do anything for her sanity at this point.
I walk out of the guest room neatly showered. I throw on one of my outfits that I have here. I always have few of my dresses here. Because I have the permission to crash here anytime I can.
"No this is ridiculous! You all are sick" Asher shouts out loud.
He shouted so loud that I had to flinch. But when he looks at me, his eyes soften. I walk towards my family who is in the living room, amidst a heated argument.
I see my mother too. She is just staring at Asher and then her eyes fall on me. I let out a sad smile but she doesn't give one back. She is only staring at people with no emotion on her face.
"What is happening? Is anything wrong?" I ask particularly no one.
I see Asher, his parents, Ivan and his parents, my mother and I. All the higher rank wolves are here. So this must be something serious.
"It's-"
"No, don't. That is sick, Mom. You all are crazy. That is not going to happen so do not bother her" Asher screams again.
Now why the f**k is he shouting at everyone. And why shouldn't they bother me when such heated argument is already taking place?
"Let me know, Asher. If that is ridiculous, then maybe I will have a good laugh" I say.
"Trust me, Sienna. You wouldn't want to know what they are saying. More like asking" Asher rolls his eyes as he tilts his head towards our family.
I look at everyone to see if anyone can tell me something. But no one does.
"So I am the outcast one again?" I almost scream.
"Sienna, honey. I want you to listen carefully to what I say. Please don't see the one side of coin to this. I want you to see my perspective" Yolanda says.
"Why do I feel this is not a good news?" Hayley whispers.
And I don't have a good feeling about this too. But still, I nod. I want to know what got Asher shaking with anger. I did not really see him this way till now.
"I wish-"
"Mom, please" Asher whispers and I can see he doesn't want his mom to finish what she is about to say.
"Tell me, Yolanda. What is it that you wish?" I ask her again and I pressurise her to tell me that.
"I wish Asher and you to marry each other. You would be the Luna and the Gamma. Asher would have an heir. Everything will fall into place"
