Gamma's Daughter

Chapter 9

Sienna's POV

"Mumma, please open the door" I whisper as I knock on her door again.

It has been a week since we lost the apple of our eye. The whole pack is trying its best to recover from what happened. The attacks from other packs and other supernatural races have become frequent. And yet, we fight because this is our land and we protect it.

But my mom, she is just stuck there. Every single day, she locks herself up in a room out of blue and cries till she falls asleep. I can understand that her emotions take a toll on her all of a sudden, but she cannot stay this way forever.

Asher and I are planning to get married. But the pack needs the Gamma female till then. The patrol duties are now being taken care of thanks to Ivan. Asher is taking up the job of documentation. Along with their own Alpha and Beta duties, it is being hard on them.

Moreover, I don't want her to stay this way forever. She should move on. I wish for that to be true, the way vampires can turn on and turn off their humanity as shown in various movies, books and all.

"Mumma please" I whisper and I hear my own voice crack.

I sigh as I walk to the kitchen. I make myself a cup of coffee and sit on the couch. The house feels so empty. My dad is not here anymore. My mom.. it feels great if I see her once a day.

She asked me to choose right when the topic was about Asher and I marrying each other. By the time I came back to tell her that I was ready to marry Asher, she already locked herself up in her room. Well, their room. Mom's and dad's. She must be rewinding all the memories they had.

"One run please?" I mindlink Asher and wait for his response.

My wolf Hayley needs a release. I did not let her take control in a week and she feels suffocated. I just don't know, I wasn't in the mood for runs.

"Of course yes!" I hear Asher's voice not in my head but behind me.

I turn around to see him walking through the main door with a smile on his face. He sits beside me and places a peck on my lips. I don't know, I still feel awkward kissing Asher. I kissed him the day I said yes, but that is it.

Because maybe, deep down I still treat him as my best friend. Or maybe, it still takes time for me to start looking at him that way.

"Your mother?" He asks and I tilt my head towards her room.

He frowns and shakes his head with a sigh. That is exactly my reaction since a week. I cry myself to sleep sometimes, but I am learning to move on. Dad would definitely not be proud if mom or I get stuck in the same point. I am still mourning in my own way, but just not loud.

"Come!" I say and stand up to walk outside.

Hayley badly needs this run. Asher and I walk to the run clearing in silence. Asher roars as he allows his wolf Dash to shift and take complete control. His black wolf is actually a beauty!

"Hayley!" I roar and she doesn't take another second to shift.

Hayley is a red wolf that comes off intimidating to people. Because I am the only red wolf that there is. Just like the name of my pack. Crimson Red.

Dash and Hayley starts running and I feel good. Because I can feel the bond between Hayley and I getting strong again.

I see Dash running a little faster and Hayley smirks before speeding up her pace too. I close my eyes just for a minute but I wake up when I feel presence around me. Not just me but Dash too.

Dash is already growling at the Rogues around us. Five in total.

"Hayley?" I call her and she smirks.

I mostly fight in my human form because, well, Hayley is not someone you can mess with. She is a devil in disguise and, you can see what I mean now.

Dash smirks and takes a step back. He knows he can save energy by not fighting.

"Hayley needs this, so let that be" Asher mindlinks and I agree.

Hayley growls at the Rogues and she quickly pounced on the one right in front of her. She tears the Rogue's head off its body in just seconds. Blood spills and I can feel that on Hayley's fur.

Hayley growls dangerously at the four alive Rogues. Two Rogues run forward and Hayley doesn't even flinch as she jumps on one and hits the other with her paw in the process.

Both the wolves fall down and she uses that time to tear chunks of flesh from their bodies. She enjoys the blood on her as she kills both of them like she killed the first Rogue.

She then looks at the two Rogues who are looking at her with fear evident in their eyes. She grabs hold of one wolf but the other one runs and escapes. The last one is an easy kill. Because he is afraid and his heart didn't take long to stop beating.

Hayley looks around and Dash walks to her with a wide smile on his face. Hayley and Dash then run to the stream where Hayley takes a bath. The blood slowly dissolving into the water. Dash is at the shore just staring at the stream. Dash is an Alpha wolf, but still a silent one. He falls into action only when needed.

Hayley walks out of water and shakes her fur. What a beauty! Her red fur is so beautiful with the rays of sun hitting on it.

Hayley and Dash stay silent for a while and then give back the control. Hayley is so happy that she got to kill few Rogues. She took just 2 minutes to kill 4 Rogues and I call that incredible!

Asher and I shift back and throw clothes on our bodies.

"Asher, we need to get married soon" I say and he narrows his eyes at me.

"The attacks. They are more frequent. The pack is in need of a Gamma and a Luna" I say and he nods as he falls into deep thought.

We both start walking towards the pack house. And we both stay frozen when I see my mother. She is finally here again.

"I am so sorry for being the worst mom" she whispers with her tears surfacing again.

I shake my head and I start crying as she opens her arms wide. I run and hug her as she repeatedly apologises me.

"You don't have to apologise me. You were mourning in your own way. Glad you are back now" I say in between sniffles.

We pull away from the hug and I see she is indeed trying to get back to her normal life.

"So, what is the news?" Ivan asks as he walks through the main entrance.

I look at Asher and he nods. Okay, so it was Asher who called him. I also see Yolanda walk out of kitchen with some spaghetti in a plate. My mother's favourite. I smile at Yolanda and she blows a kiss in air.

"Now that everyone are here, I have.. sorry, we have an announcement to make" Asher says.

We? Okay.

"We would like to exchange rings and have an engagement ceremony soon. The wedding will take place the next full moon"
