Edwin's eyes fluttered open, his head pounding with the aftermath of last night's excesses. For a moment, he lay still, trying to piece together his fragmented memories. As consciousness fully returned, panic gripped him. This wasn't his bedroom. The unfamiliar surroundings sent a jolt of fear through him. "Not again," he muttered, his heart racing. He'd woken up in a strange room before, but this time felt different. The room was tastefully decorated, with large windows letting in soft morning light. It was a far cry from the seedy hotel room he'd found himself in that unfortunate morning. Edwin sat up slowly, his body protesting every movement.
