Aurora:
I sat on the floor, not saying a word as I leaned against the bed behind me.
My hand was on my stomach, right where my baby was growing, and I couldn’t help but find myself thinking of what the pack Luna had told me. The idea of accepting it was something that I didn’t want, nor did I know how to do, but I knew that it was going to be for the best if I wanted my child to survive.
Flashback:
“You are going to give me your baby, and he or she will be growing with me as their mother. I am going to take care of the child, will be raising it as my own, and trust me, it won’t be needing anything. You are going to give the baby to the Alpha and Luna of the pack. You can think of it this way, the baby is going to be the pack heir.” She said, and I looked down at my lap, now scared of how things were to be.
The woman didn’t know that the baby was in fact that pack’s heir, and I knew that the second she found out, I was going to be losing everything that I had. Ezio wasn’t going to care, he was the Alpha. I was the one who would be suffering the consequences.
“Luna, with all due respect, but you are asking me to give up my child.” I said, looking down at my feet, avoiding her eyes. “The fear that I have of doing so is far worse than the one that I have of death. I would rather take my baby and leave the pack if I would be…”
“The baby would be surviving. You can have an opportunity to see your child, I can arrange for that even if they do force you to leave. But thinking of the baby and your situation, how are you going to manage raising the child as a rogue? You know, I spared you now, but I don’t know if I am going to be able to do that later.” She said, stopping me. “Don’t be too hasty to reject or accept. It is an offer that I am giving you and I believe that you can make use of it. Especially considering the fact that no one has come out to claim that the child is his, I can tell that you wouldn’t have run if you knew that the man would be willing to accept the baby.”
Her words hit me harder than I thought that they would, and judging by her expression, I knew that she saw the pain in my eyes. It was one that I couldn’t express, and she knew that it was one that she saw. The idea of hearing that wasn’t something that I wanted.
“I will leave you to think, and you can give me your response. And if you are worried about Ezio not accepting the baby, don’t worry, I’ll be speaking to him. I know how to get things in my husband’s head when I want to…”
End of Flashback.
Never in my life did I feel as helpless as I did, and wrapping my arms around my knees, I pulled them to my stomach as I took a deep breath.
My phone rang, and I knew that it would be Natalia who was calling. I couldn’t blame her. The woman would be worried sick, and considering that I haven’t been answering any of her calls, I knew that they would be thinking the worst. However, answering was going to put her in more danger, and I knew that my father would have my phone bugged. The last thing that I wanted was to have her in a tough situation.
“Your phone has been ringing for the past hour,” Mom said, entering the room. I stood, taken off guard that I didn’t even sense her presence in the room. Her eyes met mine and she shook her head at me. “Look at the situation that you put yourself in, do you find yourself being happy with what you did?”
“Mama, it is not something that you understand. Neither one of you…”
“Do not call me mama. I am not related to a woman like yourself.” She said, breaking me more than I already was.
“I didn’t want things to get to this point, but you wouldn’t have listened…”
“I came to see you based on the pack Luna’s request.” She said, stopping me again. “I didn’t aim to come here, but she has requested that I check on you. It seems to me that you have more luck than others would. She was kind enough to give you something, a place to stay because believe me, your father and I were debating on putting you in the attic.”
“Anyhow, you are safe and well, I will show myself out.” She looked me up and down, and I knew better than to respond, my heart aching as she turned to leave.
She slammed the door shut, taking me off guard, making me jump. My lips quivered as my hands shook, and I cried out before throwing the pillows that were on the bed that was in the room, giving in to the rage that I felt.
“f**k…” I muttered as my stomach hurt me, and I frowned, sitting on the floor, squeezing it. I shook my head as I cried, allowing my tears to fall freely from my eyes before looking out the door. No one was there, and even if they were, neither one of them would bother coming to help me.
“I give you my word, Ezio Auditore, I am going to make you pay for making me go through this.” I whispered, keeping my hand on my stomach as I fought back my tears. “I promise you, you are going to regret what you’ve done to both me and my baby. All I have to do is make the proper plan for that to happen…”
