HISTORY IS A f*****g MESS

Daphne and I got back to the mansion and ran to the kitchen because we were starving. The aroma of pancakes lingered around the dining area, my stomachs growls. Elijah served the pancakes with maple syrup, my mouth waters just by the sight of sweet syrup covering the entire pancake. Without any shame, I start stuffing it.

“I made plenty of pancakes, so stop eating like a pig.” Elijah taunts but I ignored and stuff another bite of the delicious breakfast.

“Pigs don’t eat that much, I can eat like a horse.” I replied to him. Elijah chuckled and muttered under his breath, “Like a white horse.” I shoot him daggers. “I heard that.” I said angrily, to which he shrugged and served another pancake in his plate.

We ate the breakfast while cracking jokes, honestly I never felt this happy before. I felt a connection with them. I laugh when the sibling fights and say something sarcastic to each other. I helped with the dishes and Daphne cleans the house, Elijah did the laundry. When the chores finished, we decided to sun bath. As the temperature is low, the warmth of the sun felt like bliss. We were in the garden, where Daphne taking a walk. I was sitting beside Elijah; he was lost into a book, “what is this?” I ask

“A book” He said, I roll my eyes, “that I know but what book is this?” I mumbled.

“That is the right question. It’s a history book, just basic.” He said, “I have to teach you the history of Verglasia.”

I frowned, “History of what?” I question him. He looked surprised.

“I am going to teach you the history of our kingdom, Verglasia.” He stated, he handed me the book which is written in a manuscript pattern and the language is foreign. “How am I supposed to read this?” I raised my brows at him.  His attitude always remains calm and silent, which sometimes gives me creeps.

“Try it.” He stands up and crosses his arms, I open the first page and the symbols appears alienated to me but as I try to concentrate, I can figure it out, like a toddler learning the phonics. I repeat the word written at first page, “V…. E..R….Ggg..L..AAA, VERGLASIA! DID I READ IT RIGHT?” I ask him, to my surprise, he stood in shock. I frowned again and handed the book back to him, “how did you know that I can read it?” I ask him and Daphne joins us.

He gulps the saliva down his throat and replied, “I don’t know, but I can teach you to read it.” I eyed him suspiciously but I felt that he is telling the truth, so I decided to leave the topic for now, “I want you to teach me the history. I should at least know something about my birthplace.” Yeah the place I have no idea existed before.

Elijah put the book at side and looks at me, “so, let’s us start now.” Daphne and I sit on a log and Elijah sits opposite, facing us. “I am having the feeling of a campfire night, where little children gathered around a bonfire and the head of the camp tells stories to them.” Daphne smirked.

“I will start from the beginning, how the kingdom established,” Elijah said, It is going to be interesting, “there was a water spirit Each-uisge, who fell in love with a spirit Púca, they lived together until Púca discovers that Each-uisge is a vicious spirit. She broke all ties with him and Each-uisge enraged and furious curses her that his descendent will bring darkness to the world. Scared, she runaway from him and took a rest on earth. She soon discovered that she is pregnant and delivers another spirit Beira.

Beira later becomes the goddess of winter as she loves snow and cold. She created the weather and Snow Mountains and took rest in BEN NEVIS. She fell in love with a human, king Valdor. The king was kind and aware of Beira’s identity. They both got married and ruled the kingdom together. Everything was perfect except the fact that Beira was not able to give an heir to the kingdom. After ruling for 100s of years, finally Beira got pregnant with first child. Later the little prince Rudolf was born and fills their life with colors.

The young prince grown into a wicked man, he was into dark magic. He wanted to rule over the kingdom so he killed the king.” I gasped at the moment as I was feeling the whole story going through my mind like a movie. “What? Why did he do that and the king was a human so did he able rule over 100 years?” I ask him..

“Well, King Valdor’s aging process stops after getting married, I guess the goddess is responsible for that, I am not even sure. There are plenty of books in the library, having detailed history of the kingdom and things related to it.” He quickly finished the statement, and then continues with the story… “Beira finds out the horrendous act of his son and confronts him, where he accepted his crime and tried to kill her, but Beira is more powerful than him. She abandons him from the kingdom and left him to live on his own.

After few years, Rudolf came back to take his revenge, he had build an army of dark creatures, gets near the kingdom’s territory and attacked the innocent people living there. All these inevitable attacks, lead to a small war where, Rudolf faced the defeat. Beira, being furious, imprison his own son.

She seeks her mother for help, Puca explains her about the curse and she got worried. There is only two ways to break the curse. First, to kill Rudolf and second, a blood related will kill him, that means Rudolf’s sibling. It does not matter how much Beira was powerful, her mother instincts won’t be able to kill his only son and the king is dead, the chances of another child was nil. So she decided to keep Rudolf away from the kingdom. She castes a powerful spell, creating a barrier around the territory, which made the kingdom invisible to foreigners, more she made the territory into a moving island so it would be impossible for Rudolf to find it.

 But that created a problem, as no one can find the kingdom, the population started to decrease, which leads to the fall of kingdom. Beira decides to have intercourse with every male present in the kingdom and delivers as many children as she can, to increase the population again, strangely that worked and the species that generated called Caillech. The children had s*x with each other and delivered more children and the process goes on till few more thousand years. That’s how we Caillechs were born.”

I was speechless, but I laughed and fell from the log, “whoa! The goddess was a w***e. It was a stupid idea.” I spat out. Elijah eyed me and Daphne giggles, “it worked so who cares if it was stupid.” Daphne said. We laughed hard and Elijah narrowed his eyes at us, “attention!” we said in union, “yes, sir!.”

“So where I was..” Elijah put is index finger under his chin and snapped suddenly, “yes.. then..Beira went barren after delivering almost 174 children.” My jaw dropped to the ground but I covered it up, well this history is definitely f****d up, queen f*****g others males around her and everyone else f*****g each other, what kind of a mess is this? They should have named the kingdom as fuckland or kingdom-o-fuckingea.. Morons..

“But after 400 years, Rudolf returns with dark powers, in search of Verglasia, but he found nothing, he was furious about the disappearance of the whole kingdom. On the other hand, Beira becomes weak after the deliveries. She realizes that she has to end Rudolf but now she can’t as she is not that much powerful now. Puca visited her, and advise her about the second way, Beira ask her mother that she already have 173 kids, Puca observes all the 173 kids and shook her head, indicating that, none of them are that powerful to kill Rudolf. That means, the legendary one is yet to born.”

I was confused about something so I asked Elijah, “wait! You said there was 174 children of Beira but Puca saw 173. Where is the 1?” Daphne slaps on my head, “Rudolf was the first child, and he was kicked out from the kingdom. Got it?” I nodded my head while rubbing it from the back. Elijah starts to continue..

“Beira is barren now and none of her offspring were able to kill Rudolf. Beira crowned Linta, her great granddaughter as the queen of the kingdom, who is currently the queen of the kingdom. She does not want to rule anymore and transferred her responsibility to a worthy one. Beira left the kingdom to see the world and met new people. After that, no one saw Beira again.”

“That was the story.” Elijah finishes off but I was not satisfied.

“Wait, the story ended like that? It felt incomplete, something is missing.” I asked in determination. I am sure that the story is far beyond.

Elijah sighed deeply, “some says that she died or she settled somewhere out. No one knows the actual truth. I am also clueless but queen Linta definitely knows something. We will meet her soon so you can ask her your queries. Now who is hungry?”

We raised our hands and ran back to the mansion. I somehow feel the history familiar, there are lots of thing that is hidden from me, but why? Well I will find out that one day.
