I was brooding.
Truth be told, it was pretty much all what I did these days.
Why wouldn't I be?
Everyone, literally everyone in the pack had found their mate but I hadn't. I was the alpha but I was the only one alone and without a mate. It was pretty tragic. I had to watch everyone be all lovey dove with their mates but I couldn't get to do so.
I had searched countless times for my mate but it was all to no avail. I was beginning to think I didn't even have any mate.
After feeling bored for God knows how long, I got up from my bed and walked out of my bedroom. I strolled the hallway, heading towards Alec's room. He was my friend, also my beta. As I approached his room, my super sensitive ears picked up the sounds coming from inside his bedroom. To be specific, I heard moans coming from inside the room, it sounded so loud in my ears that I had to slap my hands over them. It was obvious he was with his mate Ashley.
I decided to not badge in on them like I usually did and went ahead to go find my second friend, Andre. As I approached his room, the smell of arousal invaded my nostrils.
"You've got to be f*****g kidding me" I muttered under my breath.
It was also obvious he was with his mate Gia.
I sighed in disdain. I decided to take a walk outside instead. I stood In front of the huge mansion my father left behind, which was also the pack's house, and took a deep calming breath, letting myself hear every single sound around me. All I heard were sounds of either laughter, sloppy kisses or moans.
The realisation of being alone hit me real hard that I couldn't take it. With one last deep breath, I shifted easily into my wolf form and ran off into the woods.
I roamed around the familiar woods for hours to clear my head until the full moon reached its apex. I knew I had to return and control my pack before they started running off to hunt or feed off humans.
I was just about to do that when a very pleasant smell invaded my nostrils. I paused for a moment and inhaled deeply, that action suddenly made me feel...excited?
I started moving to the direction of the smell, the closer I got, the more intense the feeling became. I didn't only feel excited, I felt drawn, I felt the vulnerability, I felt my heart beating faster. Then it hit me.
I finally found my mate.
So I picked up my pace until i finally heard her voice. She spoke ever so softly. when I finally laid eyes on her, my heart stopped.
Sitting on a tree stump was a girl that looked to be the prettiest I had ever seen. Her long light brown hair fell by her shoulders, her eyes were glittering even in the dark as the moon illuminated every inch of her face.
She was beautiful.
But she had tears in her eyes which made my heart feel heavy.
Immediately, I wanted to go to her. Talk to her, wipe her tears, tell her that I was going to protect her and also tell her she's mine but as I took a step forward, I felt a tree branch break underneath my paws.
Instantly, she gasped and that was when she noticed me. I immediately felt the fear erupting from her and I heard her heart beat echo in my ears. She stared at me with horror but at the same time, I noticed the curiosity in her eyes although it didn't last long, it was quickly replaced with panick.
I chose not to move an inch forward in order not to frighten her even more, seeming I was in my wolf form. I watched her back away until she took off.
Shit! I didn't mean to scare her.
It felt somewhat painful as she ran away from me but at that moment, I wondered...
Why would she run away?
Then I recalled not sensing her wolf scent. Could she have hidden her scent? No, that couldn't be because that was rare.
Then I also recalled that it was a full moon and every werewolf would be in their wolf form, except...
She was not a werewolf at all. She was human.

The next day...
"Dude! Are you crazy?" Alec exclaimed after I told them my encounter. I hadnt been able to get it off my mind...get her off my mind.
"Are you really considering this?" Alec continued. I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair. It hadn't even been up to 24 hours yet I was already going crazy thinking of how to find her. But then again, I know I could probably sniff her out.
"Bro, I know you are probably pressured with this mate stuff but..." Andre started, "I think you shouldn't jump into conclusions yet. It might just be a misunderstanding"
"Yeah" Alec supported
"Maybe you mistook her for the girl while your mate was probably around there somewhere" Andre said.
"Dude what the f**k are you saying" Alec faced Andre confused.
"Guys it was her" I called their attention, "I felt it" I tried to convince them.
Alec sighed, "this is not a problem at all" he said sarcastically. "I mean I can remember how many werewolves, sorry, alpha werewolves have had a human mate. Wait let me count" he gestured with his fingers, "none!" he exclaimed again and I rolled my eyes.
"We get it Alec, no need to be dramatic" Andre stood up and grabbed his school bag.
"Let's just go already, we're getting late" I told them. The three of us went downstairs and got into my car.
I drove us all the way to school and parked in the schools parking lot. The moment we got out of the car, all eyes were on us. We were used to it already, apart from the fact that we were stylishly handsome, we were also rich kids. So a lot of people admired us, I guess.
We ignored all the stares as usual and strolled into the building. Immediately I did, my wolf suddenly started purring.
"Guys!" I called, "she's here" I said half excitedly.
"What?" Andre stared at me
"Thats imposible. we have been in this school since kindergarten, if your mate was here, you would have sensed her a long time ago" Alec was quick to disagree.
"I can feel her" I left them where they stood and went in search for her. I heard their footsteps behind me. I focused all my senses in order to spot her as I scanned the hallway filled with students.
My feet came to a sudden halt when I found a girl standing alone in front of her locker. Her light brown hair drooped down, stopping at her bra line. I knew it was her even without seeing her face. I felt exactly how I felt the previous night.
I took a bold step forward and approached her, when she sensed that I stood beside her, she turned around and once again, my heart stopped.
Seeing her in the day light, she looked even more beautiful. My heart was beating so fast in my chest as I stared at her with deep affection and attraction while she stared at me confused.
I opened my mouth but the only words that came out were...
"Mine"
"Excuse me?" She looked even more confused.
"Mine" I repeated, "you're mine"
"I'm sorry, I think you've got the wrong person" she closed her locker and turned to walk away but I quickly grabbed her wrist without thinking. She quickly withdrew her hand and stared at me with what seemed like annoyance.
"No, its you. You're my m... "
"Hey man" Andre rushed beside me, awkwardly tapping my shoulder. Then he looked at her.
"I'm sorry about my friend, he mistook you for someone else" Andre said and I frowned at him deeply. She stared at us like we were crazy for a second before she turned around and walked away.
"Why the f**k would you do that?" I exclaimed and Alec joined us.
"Seriously bro" Andre faced me.
"You almost blew our cover. May I remind you she is human" I was silent as I realised he was right.
"But that wouldn't stop me, I would get her and make her mine" I told them and Alec face palmed himself with a long sigh.
