Alex POV
I sat silently, looking at the photos on Caleb's phone. My hand rests on my chin. I see her again. Shirley. The woman I let go of two years ago.
Sometimes I think of her. That night I was completely satisfied with her. I enjoyed her body, and she seemed pleased with my s****l skills.
"Do you know where she lives now, Caleb?" I asked curiously. But I showed a very calm demeanor so Caleb wouldn't get suspicious.
Purple Moon Pack was destroyed a month ago. None of the Alpha family was left. But I got a strange report. There were only three bodies found. While reports say, Teddy Mendes has two daughters.
Bruno urged me to find Teddy Mendes' daughter. Bruno repeatedly said that Teddy Mendes' daughter must be arrested immediately.
I knew Shirley was Teddy Mendes' daughter. I thought that she, too, died in the attack. Until I saw the photo. Oh my goodness, Shirley has changed. She wasn't what she used to be. And what a fool I was. Just looking at Shirley's photo made my chest pound.
"Shirley doesn't live in Wolftown, Sir. I've already sent a spy to find out," Caleb replied.
I held my lips. My eyes suddenly caught something in this photo.
"Who is he?" I asked, pointing to the photo of a man standing behind Shirley. His figure was not very clear. But I could see his clothes which could be said to be branded.
Caleb came closer. He squinted his eyes. Caleb used telekinesis to get information from the photo.
"What kind of information can you get from a photo?" I grumbled. Caleb was like this sometimes. He's too random about everything.
"He's an Alpha, Sir," Caleb said.
I was quite astonished by Caleb's abilities. He doesn't need to touch a living being to get information. I won't let Caleb go. He must be my loyal servant.
"Alpha? From which pack?" I asked in surprise. I didn't think I recognized the man in the photo.
"Outside from Wolftown," Caleb replied. He didn't smile at all. Sometimes I wondered. How could Caleb always have such a flat face? It's like he has no emotion at all.
"Let me know when you find her," I said. I had to find Shirley first before Bruno did.
"Should I kill her outright, Sir?"
"No!" I screeched. Caleb's words were a shock. But realized his suspicious look. I mean, I had to meet him first. Shirley's family is dead. She must be very disappointed."
"Yes, Sir.
****
Several days passed. There was no news from Caleb about Shirley. I deliberately took a walk around Wolftown on my own without Caleb. Maybe I could meet Shirley.
There was something I wanted to talk to her about. I wanted to clarify something. It's just that I have to keep this a secret from everyone.
The car I was driving stopped at Vradie. This place is still very solid. Since the massive attack on Wolftown a month ago, Vradie has been quiet. Only in the past few days have we seen shifters walking around in the place that became the icon of peace in Wolftown.
I smiled proudly as I successfully led the largest shifter territory on this continent. All the shifters bowed to me. I led several Alphas from various packs.
"Sir," someone greeted me. A beautiful woman. I recognized her. She was Katty, a member of the Silver Lycan Pack. She was my childhood friend.
"Katty!" I was so happy to see her. I quickly got out of the car and hugged her.
"People are watching us. I could be considered having an affair with you, Sir," Katty said.
"Don't call me Sir. We are best friends," I said. She had become strange since this month. She was like a servant. Even though I still consider him a friend.
Katty smiled. She leaned against my car while watching my face.
"Why?" I asked in surprise. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"I heard a strange rumor," Katty said. She folded her hands together.
"What?"
I'm always curious about the rumors circulating in this region. Katty is very accurate in knowing about rumors.
"Your wife is barren. I heard Wolftown's parliament urged you to have a concubine," Katty said.
I laughed out loud at Katty's words. She always had crazy ideas. But I couldn't agree this time.
"Nope. The Lycan King only has one wife," I replied. "You know that."
"But you can have a mistress. You make children carry on your bloodline."
I looked at Katty while shaking my head. I approached her and leaned on the car beside her.
"Do you want to give me a descendant?" I asked. "If you want to. I'd better do it with you."
A small slap hit my face. "I'm not interested in getting involved with drama. You know your wife doesn't like me? I don't like her either. Don't involve me in any drama."
"Hey, she's a sweet girl. Well, a little annoying, though." I tried to defend Bianca. Just to keep her honor.
"Why are you sticking around if you're fed up, Alex. It's been two years. It feels like you're pushing yourself too hard." Katty looked at me. She was waiting for my answer.
"I don't know," I answered briefly.
I looked up at a hotel that was familiar to me. The hotel where I slept with Shirley.
"Are you still looking for her?" Katty asked. "Better let her go, Alex."
"Am I being cruel, Katty?" I wanted Katty to say no. Oh, really. I don't want Katty to say I'm cruel.
"Yeah, you're so cruel, Alex. You've hurt her. And now you're going to block her from the parliament."
I was disappointed with Katty's answer. She should at least be compassionate to me. Katty always told the truth.
I looked around Vradie. I was glad things were back normal after the attack a month ago. Wolftown was in chaos back then. I couldn't control the shifters who were rioting here and there.
Suddenly I smelled a distinctive scent. I know this scent very well. I followed where the scent was going.
"Shirley?" I muttered.
"Sir, where are you going?" Katty asked me.
I didn't have time to answer Katty at the moment. I had to concentrate on finding Shirley's scent that suddenly flashed by.
I kept walking. I tried using telekinesis to focus more. Damn, I even had to run because the scent disappeared when I entered the Vradie building.
"Alex, what's wrong? Why are you suddenly running!" Katty chased after me. She was panting because she couldn't keep up with your speed.
"She is here," I said, looking at Katty seriously.
