7th Daughter

CHAPTER 1

Emma:

The birds were chirping and enjoying the cool breeze. The dew drops were falling from the leaves of the plants. The grass was wet because of the dewdrops. The sun was rising from behind the clouds.

It is a Monday morning, the first day of my job. I am very excited and nervous. I have shifted to another city in search of a job and it finally completes the hunt with a good package and a multinational company.

Mia is my roommate and my best friend since graduation. She helped me a lot to find a new job.

Mia "Get out of the bed Emma, today is your first day, do you want to get late and create a bad first impression? Here is your bed tea. Breakfast is ready on the dining table, have it fast and get ready"

Mia gave me a teacup and started getting ready for the office.

Taking a sip of tea I said: "May every girl get a roommate like you, Mia."

"Land down from the 7th cloud Miss Emma. Today is your first day and so I have made everything ready, from next week we will divide the work." Mia replied and gobbled the breakfast.

Mia while collecting the office material started "Some things you need to remember is that, I hope you remember, Tell me, Emma"

I replied, "first is to be polite to senior."

"Second?"

"Don't be over-friendly on the first day."

"Third?"

"Don't discuss your package with anyone."

"Forth?"

I was lost in gazing at the little birds on the tree.

"EMMMMA, what is the forth?, Answer me quickly, I am getting late"

"Forth is don't allow any guy to hit on me or flirt with me and never give a single that I am available because," I took a pause

Mia threw a cushion toward me, "Continue Emma."

"Because it is my first job and I should concentrate on career and not affairs."

Mia left in a jiffy for the job

I looked at the watch and s**t; it is 8.30 am. I have a reporting time at 10.30 am. 

I got ready in a jiffy, fetched my documents and required stuff. 

Mia had booked a cab for me. So good of her. 

The traffic here was Soo damn bad, that I was sure that I will get late. After a while traffic police managed it well, and the route was clear. 

In a midway, there was a boy wearing a helmet was asking for a lift. I asked the cab driver to stop the car. 

A tall, muscular, wearing a black coat, the guy said; "Hello, my bike got punctured and I have a meeting for the new joiners and I am getting late. I will pay the full cab charges in advance, you can drop me in the mid where I can get a cab or a bus. Please help me." 

"Where are you heading to?"

 "Skylark apartment, in IT park."

 "My destination is the same, come I will drop you." 

"Thank you so very much"

"But what about your bike?" 

"My roommate will pick the bike, he has an extra key of the same."

He removed the helmet and WOAH, Blue eyes, fair skin tone, curly black-brown hair, and as he entered the car, the smell of perfume was amazing.

"Hello, I am James."

"Emma." we had a handshake. 

He took headphones out of the bag and started listening to the songs.

We reached to the skylark apartment.

"How much?" He asked the cab driver.

"No, it's ok. I will pay." I replied.

"Please don't. I was in need, and you helped me. Let me payback."

I entered the IT park. It was an enormous area with many buildings.

I went to Skylark apartment. I saw a big board of "Marker" where I had my first day of work.

As I entered the office, I saw a bunch of people standing to the entrance area, and one employee announced on mike to enter the conference hall.

I was reading the rules and regulations book given to us. We all were introducing each other and till the time a person on mike started:

"Can I have your attention, please? Welcome one and all. I hope you all are excited. Enjoy your work and give your 200%. We explained rules and regulations to you prior and emailed to you. So have a great week." 

A girl sitting next to me said, "Employees here are so hot."I checked the person with the mike, and it was James.

We were told to follow the team leaders who will take to our respective desks.

Surprisingly, my team leader was James. I got butterflies in my stomach.

Wow, I was so excited to have such a hot team leader at my first job.

He guided me to my desk.

"Hello, Emma. It is nice meeting you again."

"Same here," I replied."Settle down fast, we will have a team meeting in the next 30 minutes."It was noon. I went to have a coffee.

I switched on the button of the coffee machine, but it dint work so I pat to the machine to work.

"Hey, easy. You will soon break a machine." James laughed, saying this, and helped to get a cup of coffee."So, how is the job going?" James asked.

"Great," I answered. 

We had a brief chat and went to the desk again.

The days passed, and I was getting attracted to James.

Mia's fourth warning was hitting my brain, but my heart was deaf to listen to that.

One day he came to give me a task. After the explanation he said, "From tomorrow onwards you will report to other Team leader and he will give you the task."I was about to ask him the reason, but he left till then.

Bunch of questions started running and playing in my head. Why is he leaving our team? Why did he change my leader? What if he has resigned from the company? What if I never see him again? What if he is getting married?

What and why questions had today become the resident of my thoughts.
