Whether she paused again to catch her breath or let the news sink in, I had no clue, but after a moment of stunned silence, she continued, “And surprise, surprise…investigators found a sizable rock next to the body, covered in blood. The police are hoping some of it was transferred from the assailant when he wielded the blows.”
Blows? I mouthed to a wide-eyed Leah, as Decker prattled on.
“Anyway, they’ve kicked me from the scene, but while I’m here I’m gonna see what else I can find out about this homeless guy, maybe talk to a few of the others he hangs with, see if I can get a line on him or find out where he hangs during the day.
