Chapter Ten I was busy fuming over that thought when my cell phone rang, causing me to jump. Apparently, Leah had been deep in her own weeds as she squeaked while nearly falling off her stool. The number came in as “Unknown” but that wasn’t all that surprising, as many tended to come in as blocked, unavailable or unknown these days. So much for the “smart” in smartphone. But hey, I could always talk to Siri whenever I was lonely. Leah was favoring Alexa, because Vargas had one, but I felt that chick was a little too up in my grill for my liking. I’m saying this from the perspective of someone who talks to herself. No sense confusing the poor gal, even if she was artificially intelligent.
