The future of his world depends on her. But will he ever find her before its too late?      Alina POV Flashing images of blood-stained snow, horrific creatures, a m******e of bodies. Wolves. Fae. Goblins. Witches. Vampires. All dead. Harrowing screams. And then a voice. “A cruel injustice comes to light, An impure child will lead the fight. The gem they seek is their portal, To end the life of all things mortal.   A choice is made, never undone, The mark of many comes from one. A sacrifice, a new begins, The truth is found from within.”  It jolted me from my sleep, heart pounding and sweat running down my temples. Searching the darkness of my room as I sit up in bed, I am relieved to find the horror has not followed me here. It felt so…real. The sound of Ezra’s new-born angry cries snapped me back to the present as I clambered out the bed towards his bassinet. His eyes were screwed shut, mouth open wide and limbs kicking and punching the air, demanding attention immediately.  I raised him from the cot, shushing and rubbing his back as I cradled him against my chest. Breathing in his powdery baby smell helped to calm me. I was still reeling from that nightmare. Logan stirred in the bed behind but refused to wake fully. I rolled my eyes and kissed Ezra’s head with a smile. “Your daddy could sleep through an earthquake, you know?”   After feeding my ravenous boy and placing him snuggly back in his cot, I sat in the velvet chair by the window, gazing out at the inky night's sky. There was no way I was going to go back to sleep after that. Although now with my eyes open, the vision came to me again. Clear as day. It was no nightmare. It was a Prophecy. Closing my eyes, I focused on the unearthly voice that etched the words into my brain like tattoo ink on skin. It was my calling as a new member of the council. It was my purpose; I could feel it in my soul. I knew instantly from the way that my body filled with dread and my heart raced in my chest that it was a warning. A warning of the end of all our kinds. The war of all wars. I had to do my part to protect my kind. But how? Suddenly, the words held a new meaning. A heaviness grew in my heart, and I felt the weight of the world on my shoulders. Though I would never agree with them, I understood the previous council’s actions. An impure child will lead the fight. It was the reason they had been so against the birth of hybrids. But no matter what, I was not going to follow in their footsteps. I would never become like them. There had to be another way. Sitting back in the chair again, I glanced up at the moon’s crest and sighed. When I felt the blood moon’s pull a week ago, no one was more shocked than me. To be chosen as the next wolf elder and blessed with the gift of foresight was no small thing. Although my gift had not come to any use yet apart from stopping Darius from sitting on a broken chair yesterday at breakfast, I knew it would be a blessing and a curse. To see the future minutes before but not always being able to change the outcome. I sat for hours, playing the riddle over and over in my head, trying to make sense of even a line of it but when I tried to repeat it out loud, my throat restricted. I opened my mouth and moved my lips, but no sound came out. The prophecy was enchanted. It would not allow me to speak of it to another soul. Great. Not only did I have to solve this mystery alone, but I had to keep it a secret from everyone I loved.  - - **This is book three from The Last Alpha Series.
