monday
the shrill beeping of my alarm woke me at 6 am. my small, one bedroom apartment was bathed in clear, blue from the twilight as i walked into the kitchen to start the coffee machine so it'd be ready by the time i got dressed for work, a quaint daycare center about 5 blocks away. after peeing and washing up, i dressed myself in my usual fitted t-shirt and jeans rolled atbthe ankles because of my petite height of 5"3. after slipping on my sneakers and cardigan, i put my black coffee in its travel cup and sipped it on my 12 minute walk to work.
walking through the gates, the squeals and laughs of children puts a smile on my face. its almost refreshing to hear their joy and innocence bouncing around the playground.
"joh-eun achim"
i greet as i walk into the staff room and remove my shoes. i dont speak much korean, only the basics; i was hired to teach the children english due to an increase in parents' requests to my boss Mrs Oh whom i had met at the fruit market anout 8 months ago. as i walk into my designated classroom, i'm greeted by a chorus of good morning, miss mogi. after my 12 students and i bow to each other. we begin our lesson until 11 when the children have lunch and a break for recess. i decide to eat a green apple i grabbed on the way out of my apartment this morning as i sit on a bench and watch the children play.
"hello, imogen."
i hear a deep voice say as i look to my right and see my boss's son, Oh Sehun sit down next to me. Oh Sehun, where i was petite, he was tall and broad shouldered. Oh Sehun with his dark hair, dark, intense eyes, and strong hands. Oh Sehun with his clear, pale skin with a slight dust of freckles, with small, pink lips, and strong thighs that fit his jeans oh so perfectly; Oh Sehun.
"did Mrs Oh need me?"
"no, i just saw you by yourself and thought i'd join you."
"oh,"
was all i could reply to him even though he was the only other person who spoke enough english for me to be able to carry on a conversation with. we sat in silence for about 15 minutes and as i stared ahead at the children, with my apple forgotten, i could feel him taking glances at me every so often. when i felt his eyes on my next, i turned to face him, stared back and said,
"did you need anything?"
"no-"
he started before i got up and started walking away.
"my lessons are done for today, goodbye, Sehun."
i said without looking at him again.
