I was not expecting that.
Raya said that the wolves in her time believe the Faceless to be hybrids or mutants, and looking at the lifeless creature at my feet, it appears either could be true, but I’m still not sure which one it is. I have never seen anything like it; they are not shifters like we are, who take one form or another. They seem to have a hybrid natural form - half-human/half-snake - but we also know they can shift into anything they like.
If it were not for the things Raya had told me to watch out for, I would not have known the doctor was not a werewolf. In almost every other way, he seemed to be the king's physician, a man I had known for years. We were not close acquaintances, but I knew him by sight, and now I am wondering how long the shapeshifter
