MARRIAGE PROPOSAL

ACT ONE SCENE THREE

( A week later , Stuart enters the office wearing a blue suit with a black turtle neck inner . He walks over to the company's kitchen to get coffee , as he is brewing the coffee Alice walks in )

STUART : ( pours the freshly brewed coffee into a mug ) Hey ( he says as Alice walks past him )

ALICE : ( Ignores him , she puts some freshly baked cookies on a plate )

STUART : ( pours milk into the coffee and adds four cubes of sugar , he uses a spoon to stir it before passing it to Alice ) Coffee ?

ALICE : ( Scoffs ) You may have been able to sweet talk my dad into signing the contract but that doesn't make us buddies ( she leaves with the plate of cookies in her hand )

STUART : Sweet talk ? ( he asks himself in confusion )

TWO DAYS LATER

( Stuart is having dinner at his parents house and they are chatting but mostly about business )

KELLY : ( Stuart's mother , she is a beautiful light skinned woman in her forties with brown long hair and light brown eyes ) Your father and I are going on a vacation

STUART : Really , where to ?

KELLY : Italy

PAUL : We'll be gone for a month

STUART : Wow you've. never been on a vacation so long ( surprised )

KELLY : Yeah we thought it would be a really good start for your father to get a little taste of retirement ( she gives Stuart a sarcastic smile ) It's also a great chance for you to get a little taste of what it's like being a C.E.O , I mean you'll get to run the company for a month

PAUL : I don't think so

KELLY : And what's wrong if he runs the company , he is going to be the C.E.O one day

PAUL : Until that day comes , till then my company Will not be ran by someone who can't even control his own personal life

STUART : What do you know about my personal life and what the hell has that got to with me running the company ?

PAUL : If a man can't handle one person what makes you think he can handle a whole multi billion company

STUART : And What the hell do you mean by that ?

KELLY : You know your father does have a point

STUART : Oh my God , not you too

KELLY : But he's right , not about you not being able to run the company but your personal life , I mean you're 26 and yet
