Chapter Four

Summer Time

“I should have marry and love a man with principles in terms of handling difficult situations in every life aspect. I don’t need a man with a lots of money”, I answered him directly.

“You’re young, you can’t still understand how it works”, he said while looking his feet in the water.

“Maybe I’m young but I can fully understand what loves means and how it works. My parents came from a marriage of convenience but later on they tend to learn to love each other. Gladly, I made from of love”, I let a small laugh.

“Money is tangled up with love but money can’t buy you love, as falling in love and having your hear broken”, I continued saying while looking at the sky.

“Indeed, money can’t buy you happiness and you are made from beauty and love Luna”, he said adorably

That was our last conversation before we got home. We reached the barn house when I heard Tay that he wants to go home and he is looking for me. and when he saw me he eyed me seriously after that his eyes drifted to the person behind me. Tay sharp eyes directed to Dominik and I feel so nervous. I know that he is so strict. Dominik is just looking at us normally , hope he did not notice the way Tay looked at him.

He just talks to Tata Selo to say goodbye. Nay and I walked towards the car and wait for him. After a few minutes we are set to go, Nay just waved her hand to say the final goodbye to the farmers. I just looked one more time to Dominik and I saw him smile and waved. So I did I to him.

Back to normal boring days again at the mansion. Summertime sucks when you have nothing interesting to do. I just read books if not watch some movies the whole day. I heard Tay that we are going to harvest our rice here and some farmers from Iraya will help so they will be finished early.

I keep on staring at the windows to looks someone. I admit that I have a huge crush at Dominik. He is good, kind and a gentleman. He values his family especially his Nay. He is also a hard working an and smart. Every time that he is near in me I got butterflies in my stomach. Or maybe he is the first man I ever talked closely that long. I don’t know. Ever since that day I can’t stop thinking about him and makes my blush imagining things about him.

I moved closer to the window when I saw an old truck with our farmers in the back of it. Park near the tree and beside the small hut house of one of our resident farmer. My eyes immediately scan the farmers getting off the truck and to my disappoint, the one that I want to see is not there.

I sadly go back to the sofa pouting. I will continue reading this book “Pride and Prejudice”. But a few minutes later I suddenly got bore and just keep coming back to the windows to peak. My eyes curiously went to the old motor cycle parked beside the old truck.

Nay walked out the kitchen carrying a basket full of breads. She stopped by when saw me laying in the sofa.

“Why don’t you help me with this Princess”, she said showing the basket.

“Lina can’t bring it there because she is busy cooking for our lunch”. She added.

Ate (older) Lina is our trusted maid, together with Ate Marites and Ate Nela. The maybe they are busy doing their task. Tay is already there surveying the farmers and the harvest. I get up, nodded and follow Nay outside.

When we reached the hut houses, some farmers are already resting in the small wooden bench.

“Good morning Madame, Senorita”, they greeted us.

“You can have your snacks while resting”, Nay informed them.

We put the bread in the table and farmers are starting to get and eat. I’m just watching them closely eating. And the other farmers who are in the field arrived now together with Tay. Tay kissed my cheek and went beside Nay on the other side. Even if we have a lots of farmers, they still want to be hands on in attending activities like this and of course keeping our relationship to our workers intact. That’s two of those are the factors that we are successful in this kind of business.

I’m busy watching my parents when my eyes widen to see who is the the last one walking towards the table to get some bread. I immediately composed myself.

“Morning Senorita”, he greeted me.

“Morning Dominik”, I greeted back.

He sat directly to the ground while I’m sitting on the old rattan chair.

“You won’t eat?”, he asked me while eating his bread.

“No, I’m not that hungry and those foods are only intended for you”, I said.

“Oh okay then”, he answered.

“Uhmm I did not see you getting off in the truck. You come here early?”, I asked him curiously.

“I was tasked by Tata Selo to do the fertilizer in the vegetable area. I’m already going with them in the truck but Tata Selo called. He said I will just follow and borrow the motor cycle of Gil when I’m done with it”, he explained to me.

“Really? You know how to drive a motor cycle? How about a car?”, I asked more.

“I know how to drive a car too and a horse. I learn that all in Iraya with Tata Selo”, he said looking at me now.

I was pouting when he looked at me.

“Why that face senorita?”, he asked me curiously.

“I don’t even know how to ride a bike”, I said still pouting.

He just laughed at me.

“I can teach you how to ride a bike or you wanna join later for a short ride with the motor cycle?”, he leaned to me and whisper the last.

I nod in excitement. But..

“How- I mean I can’t do it without getting the permission to Nay and Tay”. I told him.

“Then we will sneak and won’t tell them, we’ll do it fast”, he said.

“Just tell Sir or Madame that you want to go home and I will tell them I will buy something and be back soon. What do you think?”, he said while eating his last bite of bread.

I feel excited and at the same time fear and nervous. I will be dead if Nay and Tay will found out that I have my escapades and break their rules.

We wait for them to finished and got back to the field to work. I watched Tay go with them and I approached Nay if I can go home now. She said yes. She will stay here supervising too.

Dominik just nod at me to go first he will just pick me up a few meters away so no one will see us. He is now talking to one of the farmer. I walked straight home and when I reached the gate I run as fast as I could and went to waiting shed. After a few minutes I hear a loud sound of the motor cycle, I stood up and see Dominik driving. He stopped in front of me.

“C’mon now, faster Luna”, he said.

It’s my first time riding on it so I don’t know to sit or what position should I do.

“Hop in now, just put your feet on it pedal and hug me tight Luna’, Dominik said.

“It’s gonna be a great and awesome ride”, as we drove off.

I hugged Dominik tight as he set the motion faster. It feels like relaxing when the wind waves my hair. I enjoy the ride with him looking around to where we going through while he is busy driving.

Finally, we stopped on the big coconut tree with an old cement rectangular saddle where we sit and take some rest. We are too far away from the mansion now. Dominik pulled up something in his pocket and he resented me three little pieces of like chocolate. He touched my hands and placed on it.

” What’s this?”, I asked frowning.

“It’s just chocknut”, as he scratches the back of his head and looked at me shyly.

“I mean not the typical and expensive to what you eat but it tastes good too”, he continued.

“Oh! It’s okay I’ll try this”, as I unwrapped the little plastic covering in it.

I put one little bar at my mouth while he is staring at me seriously for what would be my reaction. I chewed it carefully.

“It tastes really good’, I commented as I unwrapped another one.

I saw him smiling widely and said.

“I’m glad you like it, I should bring more when I got a chance to go here for you.

“You will visit me when you get a chance?”, I asked him clearly.

“Honesty, the first time I saw you, beautiful, innocent and charming. I likes it but when I got the chance to talk to you for a while. It feels surreal because I just saw you on photos. Ever since that day I can’t get off you out of mind. It’s been two weeks and I don’t know what I’m feeling”, He confessed.

“Me too”, I said in a small voice.

He was silent for a while and I heard him say.

“You mean you think of me too?”, Dominik asked.

“Yeah, uhmm-”, I put my hands to my face foe embarrassment.

“I guess the feeling is mutual”, he concluded.

I just looked away shyly at him.

“C’mon now, we are just going to ride a few minutes and be back now. I’m gonna drop you off behind your mansion”, he said and started the engine.

“Put your hands tightly at my waists”, he added.

We enjoy the ride until he dropped me off behind the mansion. He held my hand and smiled at me before I run going inside. And when I open the back door I glanced once again and waved at him. He waved back and then go. I just wished Nay is not here yet or maybe Ate Marites and Ate Nela did not saw or asked something. I feel relieved when they are busy working and its normal like nothing happened when they saw me.

Nay and Tay went home for lunch. The farmers have their own food so they will just there. We eat quietly when dad said.

“You are quite close to farm boy Dominik, is he your friend?”, Tay asked.

“We just talked Tay”, I answered nervously at him.

He looked at me once and continued eating while Nay is just silently looking at me.

Days, weeks and a month passed that Dominik and I always saw each other. Either in Iraya or here in Mansions rice field to work. If I know Nay and Tay going to Iraya I’m suggesting that I should go to learn about farming. That’s my excuse to them. But Tay is always happy when he heard me being interesting in Agri-Business. Or Dominik will get along with the other farmers to go here for some meetings and harvesting.

Until one day in Iraya when we are in the brook.

When we are still walking here he seems so nervous. I wonder why?

“Uhm I have something to tell you”, he said nervously.

“Yeah, what is it’, I said casually.

“It’s been months since we met and I guess I’m falling inlove with you Luna”, he confessed.

“I love you”, he said to me sincerely.

“I don’t know when did start, first I just like, I enjoy your company and -

“I love you too, Dom”, I said smiling at him.

He was stunned for a while and then I tip toed and landed a peck of kiss on his lips.

He was staring at me for a while when he bowed his head and claim my lips for a long passionate and sensual kiss. We both got out of breath after that. He put his fore head on mine and said while staring at me.

“From now on, you’re mine”.
