I looked at him straight in the eyes after hearing his offer. I feel so low of myself. I maintain my composure even though my eyes started to water. I sat snappily to let him see that I am not affected at all. I am not as weak as he thought. Of all I don’t want him to feel pity for me. But do I have choice now?

“Well, it’s your choice and decision to accept or not my offer”, he said.

“So what do you think? Don’t worry we have a high rate salary even in Janitorial and maintenance department”, he looked at me waiting for my answer.

“I’ll accept your offer Mr. Montreal”, I replied sadly.

“Good then. Welcome to the MR Group of Companies Miss Ramirez and hope you enjoy working here. You can start immediately tomorrow, just pass all the necessary documents to Mrs. Jane Reyes of HR Department”. He said devilishly.

“You can go now Miss Ramirez”, he said while pointing me the door.

“Thank you so much Mr. Montreal”, as my voice shaking.

He looked at me blankly and I Stand up walking directly out of the room. That’s when my tears fall like a river. I suddenly wiped my tears and compose myself from crying. As I opened the door Mr. Singh looked at me and asked.

“How’s your interview Miss Ramirez?”, he asked.

“It went well Mr. Singh, I got hired”, I replied not to mention what position is it.

“Wow! Congratulations! Welcome to Mr. Group of Companies Miss Ramirez! Hope you have great time working in here and it will be nice seeing you every day”, he said happily and offer his hand for a handshake.

Good thing he doesn’t know

“Thank you so much Mr. Singh”, I respond smiling.

I went to the HR Department to pass the necessary papers. After the processing, one of the trainee assisted me to my locker and presented me the offices. Lastly, we went to the Janitor’s storage room.

Mina is a loud and bubbly young trainee and I like her.

“So, this is where the equipment and materials you will be needed”, she said sweetly and stared at me like I’m some kind of an alien.

I looked back and asked her.

“Why? Is there anything wrong?

“You know Miss Ramirez, you looked like a goddess you’re too beautiful to be assigned here at the Janitorial Department. Not to be nosy but are you sure you really applied to this job?”, she asked me curiously.

‘I am Miss Mina I will be starting tomorrow”, I assured her.

“You are not fit in this job.. I mean the cleaning. You looked so out of place here”, she added.

I smiled to her to pretend it’s okay.

By the way, I called Jun the Head of this Department. He will be guiding you to what will be your schedule tomorrow and the rest.

Then suddenly a young man appeared at the door.

“Good Morning Miss Mina!’, he greeted and looked at me.

“Morning Jun! so this is Miss Ramirez she is a newly hired in your Department. You can discuss to her the schedules and everything” she replied to him.

“I will leave you two so you can talk. See you around Miss Ramirez”, she said and walked out the storage room.

“Hi Miss Luna! Welcome to our Department! It will be nice working with you and hope you enjoy our company in here”, he said happily.

“Shall we go my office first so we can discuss there the things”, he said.

“Oh sure!”, I smiled at him.

We got out of the storage room went to the front of the next door.

“This is my office, in front of the storage room and the door beside it (right side) is go we called quarters. You can rest or sleep there if it’s your break time”, he informed before entering the room.

We went inside the office. I surveyed it with my eyes. It’s not small neither big but spacious and looks simpler but so pleasing to the eyes.

“Have a sit Miss Ramirez”, he offered.

“Thank you!”, I said.

He is sitting in his chair and browsing some documents in his folders and then he opened his computer.

“I will just print out your schedule”, he said

I nod and waited patiently.

After a few minutes he handed it over me.

“That’s your floor and time schedule for the entire duration of your contract. Unless there are some special or unexpected schedule that are needed immediately. They can request it especially from the higher positions”, he continued.

“Noted Sir June and thank you!’, I said politely.

“See you tomorrow then” he said.

I smiled and say my goodbye too.

I went home at 5:00 pm tired. Mentally, physically and emotionally drained. I went directly to my room and lay on my bed. I fell asleep with out changing my clothes.

At dinner Nay and Tay ask me about my day. The first thing I want to tell them is that I meet Dominik and he is the owner of the MR Group of Companies.Secondly, the nature of my work in there. I feel ashamed of myself and both of them are already old. I don’t want them to be upset on anything concerning about me, Dominik and work. So, I decided to keep it a secret.

“I got accepted at the MR Group of Companies Tay, Nay”, I answered them.

“And I will start immediately tomorrow”, I added.

Tay smiled at me sweetly and hug me while Nay stared at us fondly.

“That’s a great new Princess! I knew you will be excellent in handling your work. you are very good in Management”, Nay said excitedly.

We finished our dinner and I see both my parents are happy about it. After that, I went upstairs to prepare for tomorrow. There is a lot of questions in my head, what happened today are too much to ponder. I just don’t know how to react when we cross paths again. He is the owner of the company so it’s impossible that I won’t see him. I will do my job professionally and avoid him.

That’s my entire plan.

Morning came and the usual thing to do. Woke up at 6:am, cook breakfast, take a bath and eat together with my parents.

“Good luck on your first day my princess!”, Nay said.

They are both hugging me like I’m a school girl that first time going to school. I just laugh at them.

“Don’t treat me like a kid Nay and Tay, c’mon I’m a big girl now, I can handle now on my own”, I assured them.

I kissed them both on the cheeks and say my goodbye.

“I’ll go ahead Nay and Tay”, as I waved my hands to them.

I don’t blame my parents when they are so clingy and protective. I worked in our farm business my entire life.

I arrived at the building early, logged in and went directly to the locker room to change into the janitorial uniform. I looked at my printed schedule which I pasted out in front of my locker. For today, I will be cleaning in the second floor, Finance and IT Department and be cleaning at the hallway.

When I finished changing clothes, went out to the locker room and get the things I need at the storage room.

I meet Sir June inside checking some material at the storage room.

“Good morning Sir!

“Oh morning, ready for today Miss Ramirez?”, he asked.

“Yes, Sir!

I get the cleaning supply cart, vacuum cleaner, rubber gloves, broom and dustpan, plastic bucket, sponge map, trash bags and dust towels. And stormed out the room.

Indeed, to start my day.

The next time I should bring my lunch so I can save my money. This time I need to be practical.

After done with my break time I immediately go to the Finance Department to take out trash and clean.

I went inside pushing the cleaning cart and begin the task. Getting their shredded papers and documents, vacuum the floor and wiping windows and display materials.

Then suddenly a man with beard asked me.

“Are you new here Miss? I just see you today”, he asked.

“Yes Sir! I just hired yesterday”, I replied.

“And I guess you will be cleaning here from time to time huh”, he added.

By the way, you can call me Ben short for Benford, Sir is too formal for me and I think we are on the same age”. he said smiling.

“Sure Ben! Nice meeting you! I am Luna”, and I introduce myself.

I finished cleaning for almost two hours in the whole department before lunch time. I feel so hungry and exhausted even in just only a half of a day.

I ordered my lunch, the rice and shrimp sinigang. And I eat like I am deprived from eating for how many days.

I go directly to the quarters to take a nap. I need to rest a bit if not I will be too exhausted to clean the whole IT Department later. I will just alarm to wake me up.

I came back to work at exactly 1:00 pm. Again, cleaning the whole department by only yourself is so tiring. Physically.

The employees in the departments are just only focusing at their job, not that friendly. Who cares right? As long as you have a salary every month no need to be friendly. Just do your thing as an employee.

As soon as I finished cleaning. Relieved got me, finally I can go home and rest. First day is quite hard work day for me.

I’m already heading to the locker room to change my working clothes when Sir June talked to me.

"Miss Ramirez, Mr. Singh called just now. Mr. Montreal requested to clean his office”, he informed me.

I swallowed hard. I fell my face colder and maybe Sir Jun notice it.

“What’s wrong? Looked like you seen a ghost, you fainted”. he concern asked me.

“Nothing Sir!, I replied.

“Are you sure? Your first day is quite tiring and guess you’ll have an overtime”.

“It’s okay Sir, I will go now to Mr. Montreal office then. Thank you”. As I get by.

I will be going to clean as fast as I could so I will not be nearly encountered him. Going in the elevator with my cleaning cart and landed in the 7th floor. I walked towards the room and Mr. Singh is already looking at me with questions in his eyes.

“Uhm.. Miss Ramirez-, he greeted me first and don’t know what else next to say.

“Good afternoon Mr. Singh I’m here to clean your room and Mr. Montreal”, I informed him.

“Yeah, I mean- it’s a surprise- like how come? He asked me curiously.

“He already hired someone and it’s the only vacant position he can offer me. I told you that I really need a work so I grab the opportunity”, I explained to him.

“What?”, he asked me like I’m telling lies to him.

I start cleaning in Mr. Singh space and while I do that he keeps glancing at me. Like he wants to ask more questions but he did not. Finally, I already done cleaning for Mr. Singh. I nervously stared at the other door.

“I’m done now, I will clean for Mr. Montreal office now”. I said.

“Go ahead, he said you will just enter when you done here”. He said smiling.

I knocked before entering the room walked towards and when I got a sultry scene.

I saw Dominik in his swivel chair kissing a girl torridly, hugging him tightly and like they are lost in their own paradise of lust. My eyes widen when I saw the girls face. It’s Paris Mendoza! A model socialite. Daughter of Senator Peter Mendoza.

I stepped back and turned my back to them. It’s a wrong timing to saw the scene. When I heard Dominik saying.

“You can clean now Miss Ramirez don’t mind us”. he said coldly

“Babe-

And then I saw him kiss her again and it breaks my heart. The boy I used to loved changed a lot, gone the sweet, thoughtful, kind, humble and loving Dominik Montreal.

And it’s my fault.
