*~*A Year Later *~*
I’m waiting in my office for Alex to return with the reports I asked for last week. It didn’t take long for his good boy act to turn sour, although he kept it up for longer than I or anyone else for that matter had anticipated.
The reports are vital to my meeting with the Elders in just under two hours, they contain evidence of an alliance between two of our biggest rivals in Global City. The Platinum Moon and The Eclipsed Moon Packs.
I see my pack as one of the superior packs in Global City, and underneath us are our closest rivals, the ones who could challenge us both financially and physically. They include The Indigo Moon Pack, The Platinum Moon Pack, and The Eclipsed Moon Pack.
Then there are the packs that are smaller or weaker or poorer, Such as the Clear Moon Pack, the Mystic Moon pack, and the Crescent Moon Pack. Those packs usually pledge allegiance to the bigger packs and in turn the bigger packs offer them protection.
It was brought to my attention that an alliance was being made between the Platinum Moon and the Eclipsed Moon Packs with the main purpose of overpowering mine so they could take over it and force me out.
The fact that for over a year I’ve been trying to do damage limitations because of Alex’s inability to behave like an adult had further weakened my position. However we now seem to be coming to a level playing field, only for my brother to go on the missing list yet again.
For the first time in history, I am considering building an alliance with another rival pack, The Indigo Moon Pack to be exact. This will make my pack the biggest, best, richest, fiercest pack not only in Global City but in the whole country.
The most basic way to do this is through business deals, through contracts and votes and signatures. However the most historic way of doing this is through marriage. Not only do you have to emotionally invest, it is also legally binding.
So now that I have finally outlawed the teachings of the Moon Goddess within the Scarlet Moon Pack and have passed on our learnings to other prominent packs, I’m free to choose who to marry and have been advised by my Elders that it might be ideal to accept an arranged marriage.
I want that evidence first. The whole point of outlawing the teachings of the Moon Goddess was that I got to choose my mate now I’ve somehow ended up in an even worse situation.
I need evidence that there is a growing conspiracy against us, and that the only way to protect my pack is to align with the Indigo Moon by marrying the Alphas daughter.
Alex’s job was to collate the information and present it to me. If he doesn’t buck up his ideas, I will lose my temper and oust his sorry ass!
When my door finally opens, my brother falls into my office, bloody and broken, his clothes are shredded bearing signs he has had to shift whilst fully clothed,
“Brother, there is trouble brewing. John-John is dead, and the Platinum and Eclipsed Moon packs are meeting as we speak.” He falls to the ground, coughing.
“Alex, Alex!” I shout for help, and as I stand away from my brother, I notice the large envelopes next to him.
“Andy... ANDY... the evidence you needed, it’s all there.” And then he passes out.
The staff rush around him, he has several injuries but is alive and breathing. He is taken to the pack hospital, but I can’t go with him, I’m Alpha and I must get my pack ready and protected.
I roar with anger and aggression. Who has dared to harm my brother? He may be an immature i***t but he’s my immature i***t and no one, not one person in the world can stop me now, I will destroy them for hurting him.
I order the pack to be ready for attack. Louis, my Beta, organises the best lieutenants, the Elders are organising trackers and investigators. Mylo, my Gamma, goes to protect both my mother and brother at the hospital with his group of men.
I wait to hear news ready to lead any counterattack, but nothing comes, no one claims responsibility for the attack, Alex is unable to identify who attacked him and why, we can only presume it is one of our enemies... but which ones?
Alex physically recovers quickly, he’s back home the following day. However, the incident has changed him mentally, before he was carefree and a ‘seize the day’ sort of person, whereas now he has become serious, he calculates risk, he weighs up pros and cons and is cautious. That is not a word I would have previously used to describe Alex, but the incident taught him to be cautious, he had to grow up.
I never thought I would miss his cheeky, childish ways until they are no more.
