Chapter Two

Alpha Sebastian’s POV * * * “Do it again Sebastian!”  “No Bee!! I’m trying to get ready for training! I don’t have time!” I protest, sitting down on the sofa and pulling on my sneakers. “Pleaseeee!!! Just one more time?” she pleads walking over to place her tiny hand on my knee. “Urggg!! This is the last time Bee, then I’ve really got to go.” I answer standing up and folding my arms across my chest.  She claps her hands together happily and hops up onto the sofa shuffling through her little collection of monster cards that she so dutifully collects.  “Okay… Rainbow Unicorn… Power Rating?” she asks narrowing her eyes at me.  “65.” I answer quickly.  “Speed?”  “78 miles per hour.” I reply.  “Weaknesses?”  “Lightening and mushrooms.”  “Strengths?” she continues, smirking at me.  “Night vision, self healing and flying.” I reply triumphantly.  She drops the cards and jumps up and down on the sofa with glee.  “That was soooo cool Sebastian!! Please do another one?” she asks eagerly.  “I can’t Bee… maybe later.” I chuckle bending down to kiss her head.  “But Seb-“  “Ask Aiden!” I answer as I make my way to the door.  She lets out a huff and sits back down to put her precious character cards back in order.  “Pfft he doesn’t remember anything about my cards. His brain is just a normal brain.” she sulks as I shake my head with a smile.  *** I open my eyes and stretch over to the bedside table to look at my watch.  6.45am. f**k.  I shuffle out of the bed and quietly make my way to the bathroom in the far corner of the room.  I flick on the shower and walk towards the mirror to examine my worse for wear appearance.  Man I look rough this morning.  It’s what usually happens after I have a dream about Bee. I usually dream about her when I’m feeling restless, a lovely reminder from my brain about just how much I’ve lost in life.  Lately I’ve been dreaming about my little sister more. Memories will randomly appear in my minds eye and they feel so real, like I’m actually there with her.  I was eighteen when she was killed. Murdered by accident in an assassination attempt that was meant for my brother Aiden. At the time I was completely heartbroken. I still am but I’ve managed to push through all these years. I guess I learned to turn off my emotions from an early age. When Aiden left, I had no choice but to step up to fill his shoes. He is the strongest man I know and in order to measure up, I knew I had to numb myself to the pain. To learn to carry on regardless.  I open the shower door and step inside, letting the soothing water rush over me. I don’t waste too much time, knowing that I have to get back home in time for training.  After drying off, I head back into the hotel room and pull my pants on, fastening the belt buckle quietly.  I am just about to lift my shirt off of the floor when I hear a muffled moan emerge from the bed.  “Mmmm why are you up so early?” Camilla mumbles, rolling over and pushing her hair away from her face.  I pull the shirt over my shoulders and sit on the edge of the bed whilst I do up the buttons. “I’ve got to get back, I have a lot on today. Go back to sleep, I’m sorry I woke you.” I say sincerely.  She leans up on her elbows before stretching her manicured hand towards my arm. “Can’t you stay just a little while longer?” she coos, fluttering her eyelashes.  I smirk and shake my head in answer, standing up to grab my suit jacket from the back of a nearby chair.  “No I can’t, sorry but thanks for everything.” I reply cheekily.  “You enjoyed your stay with us then?” she grins.  “The service was excellent.” I answer jokingly.  She laughs lightly and sits up to watch me make my way to the door.  “When will I see you again!?” she asks in a slight panic.  “I’ll call you.” I answer, sending her a small smile before opening the door to leave.  I make my way out into the hall and set off for my car which is still parked outside from when I arrived here yesterday.  Okay… I know it wasn’t perhaps the right decision to stay the night but where is the harm in it?  It’s not like I’m looking to take a wife any time soon and I’m pretty certain I’ll never be lucky enough to find my true mate. My brother was recently married to his, a rarity in our world nowadays. Aiden and Natalia are perfect for each other in every way and I’m truly happy from them both. Goddess knows they both deserve it after everything they have been through. However, their blissful happiness leads me to believe that it’s not in the cards for me. There’s no way that two brothers would both be blessed with a true mate. Statistically, it just isn’t likely to happen. So I decided that it couldn’t hurt to have a little fun once in a while. I don’t make a habit of sleeping around but I’m not some sort of monk either.  I make my way outside and am about to open the car door when I feel a pair of eyes on me from the opposite side of the parking lot.  I cast my eyes over and see Alpha Ivan staring directly at me with a screwed up expression whilst his men load the car behind him.  It doesn’t take a genius to realise why he’s pissed.  The blonde. Camilla. I wink at him and smile before getting into my car and revving the engine, taking off towards home, leaving him in a jealous rage.  *** “s**t Seb, you pushed us hard today.” Dan grunts pulling back the chair and dropping down onto it dramatically.  “Awwww poor baby!!” Rosalie chuckles sarcastically reaching behind his head to stroke his neck softly.  Rosalie is Natalia’s sister, her and Dan met a few months ago and decided to become mates. She’s a great woman and fits in well with everyone here at Shadow Warriors.  “Well we have Jace’s wedding in the morning… we have to make up for it.” I answer in return as the servers begin to lay food out on the table in front of us.  “Thanks Michael.” I nod to the head cook as he finishes off service.  “What time is your flight?” Murray, my Gamma asks as he picks up a fork and begins to dig in. “Early morning, 5am.” Dan groans.  “Hey no complaining!! This is Jace and Iris we are talking about! We have to be there for them and we have to be happy about it.” Rosalie chuckles pointing directly at Dan.  He holds up his hands defensively and laughs.  “Hey I am happy for them!! Even if Jace does take every damn opportunity to wind me up!”  I join him in a laugh before turning to Murray.  “Will you be alright here in the meantime? We shouldn’t be gone more than a couple of days?” I ask him carefully.  “Course I will… I’ve held down the fort before, it will be fine.” he answers confidently.  “Good.” I reply cutting into my steak. “I heard today that there was a couple of disappearances in Alpha Tobias’ pack during the night. Just be on alert.”  He nods vigorously.  “Will do.”  “So… aren’t you going to invite a date to the wedding?” Rosalie teases with a glint in her eye.  “A date? Nah.” I reply, throwing a look to Dan.  He shrugs and grins in return.  “Not even the blonde from the meeting yesterday?” Rosalie continues, raising her eyebrow at me.  Murray laughs as I shake my head from side to side.  “No and Dan should learn to mind his business.” I answer with a chuckle.  *** “ALPHA…the perimeter has been breached!!”  My eyes shoot open at the sound of the message through the mind link and I leap out of bed like a bat out of hell.  I tug on a pair of shorts and head for the door, running down the halls of the pack house.  “MURRAY, where? Tell me what’s happening?” I demand as I reach the front door, taking off towards the forest.  “The east side, near the caves, an unknown wolf has been spotted. I’m almost there now!” he replies quickly.  I burst through the thick of the trees and turn to see Dan running closely behind.  It’s rare that anyone ever manages to make it across our boundary, let alone within such a close distance to the pack house.  Whoever the intruder is, they are going to wish they never f*****g stepped foot on this land. That’s for sure.  I’m just about to shift when Murray’s voice enters my head once again.  “Wait Sebastian… it’s alright. No need to worry.” he says in relief.  Despite this, I don’t slow down the pace. I’m only a minute or so away from the caves anyway.  We stop at the clearing and hear the voices of those who have made it here before us. I step through the trees into the moonlit space, Dan following on behind as we approach.  I’m confused to see a group of my warriors all standing around, peering at something on the forest floor.  As I get closer, they sense my presence and move out of the way to let me through. I look at them in confusion before my eyes look down to find the source of all this commotion.  My breath almost catches in my throat as I take in the sight before me.  A woman.  A beautiful, tiny, angelic looking creature lying curled up unconscious on the grass.  Her fragile looking body is completely naked, her long golden hair strewn over the long grass that surrounds her.  I can’t help but be instantly mesmerised by her ethereal beauty. She’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before. From that moment on, I’m certain that I’ll remember this very second. The second that I looked at this beautiful woman for the first time.  “She must be freezing… Dan give me your shirt.” I demand and he obliges, quickly tugging it over his head and handing it to me.  I bend down slowly and tilt my head to the side as I examine the woman carefully.  She’s still breathing, her heart beating strongly but yet she’s completely unconscious, as though in a deep, deep sleep.  I slowly drape the shirt over her body and look up amongst the curious eyes who are watching on.  “Where did she come from?” I ask no one in particular.  “Her wolf burst through the boundary a few minutes ago… she’s fast. I couldn’t keep up.” One of my warriors admits, looking slightly ashamed of his inability to capture a tiny woman such as this.  “All of you… back to your stations, be on the look out for any more disturbances.” I order commandingly.  The group scatters and Dan and Murray wait behind.  “I need to get her to the hospital.” I say, as they nod in agreement.  I put my hands down to scoop her up and my fingers graze the silky soft skin of her back.  Instantly a burst of crackling sparks travel the length of my arm, radiating from where my finger touch her body. I pull my hand away in shock and look down at it, studying it closely.  “What the f**k…” I mutter to myself, still staring at my hand in awe.  I look back at the sleeping woman and lightly brush the hair away from her face.  There it goes a again.  Sparks dance up my fingers as a result of the small action.  “Is everything okay Seb?” Dan asks worriedly.  I can’t answer yet… I’m still in complete shock.  I nod instead and lift her tiny body up, rising up to hold her close against my chest.  A shiver runs down my back when I feel her light breath hit against my bare chest.  I look down at her again and study her intently as my feet begin to move back towards the pack house of their own accord.  I hear someone talking but I’m not listening. My whole attention is focused on the woman in my arms.  I’ve never heard her speak… I’ve never so much as looked into her eyes and already she holds so much power over me.  My True Mate.  Can this be real?  After trudging back through the forest, I head straight to the pack hospital and walk through the doors.  There is a doctor and a couple of nurses already waiting to receive her. Dan must have called ahead to let them know the situation.  The doctor moves towards me and attempts to take her from my arms but I jerk out of the way automatically.  “Alpha…”  I’m not listening, I’m watching the gentle fluttering of her eyelashes. Is she about to wake up?  I have to be here if she does.  “Seb…” Murray says quietly.  I suddenly register the eyes watching me and come back to reality with a bump.  “Sorry….” I reply but I don’t give her up. “Doctor which room would you like her in?” I ask him.  He nods his head towards treatment room two and I make my way inside, lying her down gently.  I stand by her side as the doctors get to work, listening to her heart and opening her eyes in turn to shine a bright torch inside.  Blue eyes… her eyes are blue. I think to myself vaguely.  “Is she going to be okay?” I ask the doctor impatiently as he lifts the woman’s wrist to find her pulse.  “We don’t know yet… we still have many tests to do. We can let you know our findings when we get through Alpha.” he answers respectfully.  “It’s fine… I’ll wait.” I answer in return, taking a seat in the corner of the room.  It’s taking everything in me to allow them space to work.  I just want to be near her… to be holding her hand but I know that she needs medical attention first and foremost.  I watch in silence as the doctors carry out their tests and through it all she doesn’t move.  Not even a little bit.  I don’t know how much time passes before the doctor approaches me.  “We have done all we can for now… we are still waiting on the results of some tests. She’s comfortable for now.” he explains before leaving the room.  I lean my elbows on my knees and stare at her beautiful face once more.  She looks so peaceful but I’m willing to bet her story is anything but.  The door knocks and Dan opens it to walk inside.  “Seb… it’s time to go to the airport… for the wedding at Black Dawn.” he says.  Shit the wedding… it completely slipped my mind.  “I’m not going Dan… can you pass on my apologies.” I say as I stand up and walk towards her bed side. “No problem… Jace and Iris will understand.” he says carefully. “Sebastian… what’s going on?”  I let out out a puff of air and turn to look at him.  “She’s my true mate.” I answer honestly.  His eyes widen in shock before he shakes his head in disbelief.  “Really? f**k…” he answers as we both look back at her.  It’s then that he decides to address the elephant in the room. The fact that I’ve been trying to ignore since I first set eyes on her in the forest.  “Sebastian.. she’s marked.” he says quietly, glancing at me from the side.  I nod my head and rub my hand over my face in exhaustion.  “I know she is… but she belongs to me. We belong to each other.”
