The Moon family had to leave soon after my alone time with David. Therefore, I did not have time to retaliate to David's little speech earlier on. I was devastated. I was hoping that even if I got married to a stranger, we would eventually warm up to each other after having lived together, but this man was telling me to completely ignore the biggest change in my life. I learned that night, that the brothers had been given a house on their 18th birthday and they were side by side. It was a huge mansion and both the brothers had been living there. I would be moving in with David after the marriage. Apparently, between the two of us only my life was going to change. The only difference in his would be an extra person in his home. I would only be of face value and be an escort to him during company matters. That was his plan, but our parents expected us to fall in love. This was turning out to be the worst arrangement ever. Even the little glimpse of hope that i had for a fairy-tale love, had been shattered.
After they left I took off to my room and locked the door. I changed into my night gown and checked my phone for any new messages. I had 7 new messages. 6 of them being from my best friend Bianca and 1 advertising the latest promotions at Sephora. I was just about to reply her when a call came in. Speak of the devil. God, this girl was impatient I thought as I answered the call.
"Hiomghowwasit? Howdoeshelook? Doyoulikehim?"Bianca blurted out. I can understand why she'd be excited, but I wasn't in the mood.
"Hey B, I'm not in the mood right now. can I call you back later?"
"What happened?" her voice turned from excitement to concern.
I told Bianca all about David. I conveniently left out about my embarrassing incident with Daniel though. No one needed to know about that.
"OMG! That son of a… How could he?” she cursed.“But Rach, it could be a good thing, right? You can make a plan or something?"
‘I don’t know B. Maybe? Anyways, I'm tired, and I really need some time alone to think so I will text you later okay. I love you."
She understood, and I hung up the phone. I let out a sigh. This was going to be a long night. I tossed and turned in bed all night, but I could not sleep. So instead, I made a list of all the pros about living the way he said. I found a lot of reasons as to why it'd be convenient. I even made plans to exact my vengeance on David. I was supposed to be attending college soon after getting married. It was going to be a very small gathering and among my friends only Bianca would be there. No one else would know I was married so I could easily snag a boyfriend and bring him back home with no consequences. I was beginning to like the plan. I texted Bianca with all my plans for after marriage and even mentioned that I would be living even closer to her, so that was going to be another plus point. Freedom is what I wanted, and freedom is what I will get. David may be handsome and all, but his personality was just making it easier for me not to like him. I guess that is a good thing on hindsight. I eventually fell asleep on a much happier note and slept peacefully.
I woke up the next day and went down to get breakfast. I saw my mother seated at the table and wished her good morning.
"Good morning darling! I'm glad you're here. I just got off the phone and the date has been set" she proclaimed.
It took me a while to comprehend what she was talking about until I realized that she was talking about the day that I would have to lie and say ‘I do’.
"When?" I asked disappointed. "Awww sweetie, don't look so upset. The reception is set for the 15 October and the next day would be your actual wedding dinner."
“That’s only two weeks away!” I half yelled.
My mother explained to me that since it was going to be a very small reception, there was no need to put it off any longer. It was not like the planning would take too long either.
I groaned. This was going to be the longest two weeks ever.
