4 A barking laugh escaped my lips before I remembered at whom I was laughing. Death’s unamused face sobered me up pretty quick and I whipped my head back to Eric. The corners of his lips twitched upward, but otherwise his expression was stoic. “I had no idea you took to such animals outside of your occupation,” Eric mused as he cupped his chin in his hand. “Do you believe they are after the feet?” Death gave him a sharp look. “This is no laughing matter, Haldor.
