“So, what is the deal with you two love birds?” Ariel whispered to me at the lunch table, as Keira and the boys were engrossed into their conversation about sports.
“What do you mean?” I asked, playing stupid.
“Shut up,” she cut to the chase. “What’s up with you two?” she emphasized again.
“Well.” A big smile crept onto my face. I couldn’t help it. “She asked me out over the weekend.”
Ariel slapped me and tried holding in a squeal. I slapped her back, trying to shut her up before she embarrassed me.
“That’s awesome! I’m happy for you,” she said. I was shocked, kind of. She was never the enthusiastic type. This seemed to be the exception, though, and I was glad for that.
