16. Mixed feelings

Taxi driver took Alyia straight in front of her building and helped her bring the bags to the lobby. The security guy took over from there and helped her to the elevator. Alyia felt relieved seeing how many good people still lived around here. It didn’t feel bad being able to depend on others. Most of her life, she had to take care of herself and her mother.  Alyia had little time to think about what happened back in the store. Her stomach announced itself again, this time louder than before. Alyia took out the bento she bought back in the store and placed into the microwave. Her hand hurt already and standing on the healthy leg caused her same pain as the hurt one. Her little trip to the store exhausted her more than she was willing to admit, and getting quick food felt like the only opt
